With the game's mix of a hugely interactive open world, a compelling setting, and a finely tuned combat system, I'm eager to return to delve even further into the Animus.

Assassin's Creed III is unavoidably, inescapably epic.

Freerunning has taken on new life with Connor's ability to flit through the trees, and the new weapons hem nicely into the freedom and wealth of options of the series...I can personally guarantee it'll see the top of many Game of the Year lists, perhaps even our own – Assassin's Creed III is a masterpiece.

A great continuation of the Assassin's Creed series because of the strong visuals, gameplay and story. Though it must be said that the story gets somewhat boring towards the end, which leaves a sour taste.

A gargantuan, lavish historical epic that pushes PS3 to its limits, only to be led down by linear missions and a clunky interface. [Christmas 2012, p.82]

Generally, Assassin's Creed III delivers most of the things that fans want. It's a fresh new setting wrapped around the familiar core mechanics. We've lost the less engaging elements that they experimented with in Revelations while adding a couple of new tricks to the range of gameplay.

The Assassin’s Creed formula of fighting and parkour is starting to get old, even with the ability to climb trees now. Maybe it’s the repetitiveness of the series, or maybe it’s just less interesting to toss crates of tea into the harbour than to hunt and kill corrupt bishops.

The story is fine but the DLC is a really good addition to that game. The present storyline was a really good one too. Only thing I really disliked were some bugs and glitches. It got frustrating at one point but AC3 is still one of the better games of the series Expand

A bug was in my game that would say a one star level assignment was available in an area and when I opened the area to select the assignment it turned out to be a two level assignment (or three)...not game breaking but annoying to say the least. Contracts were a joke. Many could be completed by walking up behind the target, stabbing him and walking off. Homestead missions added a lot of flavor to the character development in the community although the voice acting for the main protagonist was horrible (he did much better in the main quest). The naval battles were off the chart awesome...Ubisoft should seriously consider making a pirate game. Neither the story nor the main character are as engaging as past "Ezio" games except for the sequences with Haytham (best character in game) and at times if felt a little ridiculous with Connor being the "savior" of all these huge past events. The sequences with Desmond were at times more fun than those in the animus and the game is worth the price if for nothing more than seeing the conclusion to his story. One shortcut was taken that really annoyed me. In the frontier at least 5 viewpoints are trees....I have no problem with that except for the fact it's the exact same tree every time...and when you do them one after another to open up the map, it is really aggravating. A solid game...enjoyable for the most part but not as good as AC2 or Brotherhood. Expand

The ending wasn't great but I still think the story is the strength of this game. It does start out slow. But it felt like a good TV show or long movie. I liked Conner as a character. I also liked playing as his father at the begining of the game. It added more weight to his character and to the story overall. The gameplay did not age well. Using R1 for running and climbing wasnt a good idea.. I hate how you can only climb some things in spots. I'm so happy they changed that now. Also the combat is just counter and attack for the most part... I hated the missions where you had to run on a track pretty much and follow someone and if you didnt keep up you would get desynchronized.. Same thing with the stealth. Desynchronized, desynchronized, desynchronized. Only time you should ever get desynchronized is when you die. I felt like I was playing a Dark Souls game in a couple missions.. Might as well replace "Desynchronized" with "You Died" because it felt like it.. Sequence 10 was bad when on that one path chasing that guy. It took me like 10 attempts to do it. Overall story is 8/10 and gameplay 4/10.. The real world stuff was good other than the bad ending. Expand

But this, this is a stupid game, what happened to the free roaming glory of the other games, building up your assassin's etc and really getting stuck into this action, it just felt to me like this game only gave you one road to follow with little animus interaction or options . I'll keep it simple. This game has ended the franchise for me. Played them all and only sold Revelations because it was quite pointless. ThisI'll keep it simple. This game has ended the franchise for me. Played them all and only sold Revelations because it was quite pointless. This one is as low as it can get for fans who hope to actually play a game centered on assassinations. The first AC is miles better than this. Keep in mind that the series creator as long been fired by Ubisoft. Surprise, surprise. Keep your pirates, the milking has to stop. Expand

You might have to wait until next year to play GTA V or BioShock: Infinite, but there are still plenty of major games arriving over the next few months, including a new Assassin's Creed, the latest Call of Duty, and the beginning of a new Halo trilogy.
