A mixture between action and stealth with charm and a lot of fun. If you like spies, just try it.

All too often you'll be screwed not by stealth slip-ups, but by twitchy, inconsistent AI and the odd clipping glitch. If you can handle that, then this is pretty damn fun. [Nov 2014, p.78]

Counterspy's scrappiness makes anything beyond [a few hours of fun] rather dicey. [Nov 2014, p.90]

Really enjoyable at the beginning, but it goes down fast. The errors due to random map generation and its zero replayability make the 12,99 € better spent on other summer offers like Rogue Legacy or Hohokum.

It may provide fast gameplay and charming visuals, but unfortunately the lack of depth and some notable frame rate issues make it difficult to recommend CounterSpy.

the cold war just got hot

counterspy is a fun little "rouge-like" game that has you making your way from start to finish without raising the defcon or for that matter dying. once the defcon goes to high it's a game over and the world explodes.

the games visual appeal is very unique and the graphics hold up considerably. the best part of the game is as the game progresses it gets increasingly difficult, introducing harder enemies and levels getting longer

all in all, a good game for a quick spy fix

This largely visual spy throwback to the cold war shenanigans of the early 1960s is beautifully done and for the most part a great play. AThis largely visual spy throwback to the cold war shenanigans of the early 1960s is beautifully done and for the most part a great play. A consistent 2D platform shooter, it was a joy to see the programmers utilize much of the real estate of the game to give us large heroes and villains on the screen instead of the little Mario/Sonic characters from previous games. There’s a little something for everyone to love: whether it be the headshots, the explosions, the music or the graphics, this is a neat game. What’s NOT neat about it? There are NO save points during the game. YES, that’s right boys and girls: You HAVE to continue on with the game. You CANNOT turn it off. If you exit the game, you lose your entire work. Although there is a storyline (there are five missions of five items you need to advance - which IS a plus) you must continue the whole way through to completion. This alone shatters much of the game’s excellent potential. Expand
