Oct 10, 2012NiGHTS is an important game for many reasons. Perhaps the most prevalent is that it shows creative thinking and unique ideas can create a game that is not only well-loved at its release, but also stands the test of time for future generations to enjoy. It's been 16 years since NiGHTS was released and yet it shines as bright today as it did then, inviting players into a world that is still unlike any other game. The terribly impatient might take issue with the initial lack of direction, but those that cherished the game on their Saturn and anyone looking for an engaging testament to a simpler time are going to be overjoyed with this.

Oct 10, 2012There's just nothing else quite like it. NiGHTS HD doesn't transition as elegantly into 2012 as it deserves, then, but it's clear this 16-year-old cult classic still knows how to soar.

Playstation: The Official Magazine (US)Nov 20, 2012For a trippy rush of never-give-up candor and liberating loop-de-loops, take a trip back to the Sega Saturn and switch off your brain for a while. [Holiday 2012, p.81]

CD-ActionNov 29, 2012Reheating this antique was a risky venture, but the outcome is surprisingly good. If you turn a blind eye to its obvious archaism, what remains is pure fun. [CD-Action 13/2012, p.77]

Oct 9, 2012Nights Into Dreams is out of its time. Still fun and well developed, can no longer surprise as many years ago.

Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaNov 9, 2012Leaving you with no indication on how to progress might have been quirky, innovative game design in 1996, but in 2012, it's an exercise in pure frustration. Replaying the initial laps over and over again, just so you can have another crack only makes matters worse. The original Saturn version of the game is on offer too if you are so nostalgically inclined, but it still doesn't manage to escape the fundamental inadequacies NiGHTS possesses. [December 2012, p80]
