A classic beat'em up, with good multiplayer and better artistic work. It has no online, nor is it varied, but with company it's fun.
-
A must buy if you like beat'em ups and have some friends to call over. Might even be worth your money playing it solo if you're into the genre, pixel graphics and Scott Pilgrim.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Super-nostalgic retro "kick'em up" serves more as a reminder what games once were than anything else. Modern gamer will be soon get bored by waves of generic opponents, probably. [Issue#196]
-
Just like Streets of Rage or Mutation Nation, this game is a simple and primitive 2D beat 'em all that manages to speak to nostalgic gamers with its pixilated graphics and great MIDI soundtrack... A very good recipe.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaOur biggest gripe is it's just too cheap and mean, leaving you very alone and swamped in single player against the hordes of enemies and overpowered bosses. Foes come thick and fast and players who charge at the edge of the screen whilst it's scrolling will get a sudden foot to the face for their eagerness [Oct 2010 p.76]

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is pretty much the perfect Scott Pilgrim game, hitting all the notes that fans of the series and its worldview could want. But for those who couldn't tell an Envy Adams from a Julie Powers (pity them), it's little more than a cute parody game, meticulously detailed, but outdated by design.
-
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game makes for one of the better movie-based games out there. It carries its homage to old beat 'em up games a little too far, forgoing online play and a consistent checkpoint system, especially for a game that's not meant to be played by yourself.
-
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is fun to play but only for a little while. The monotonous gameplay, simple graphics and bad music will make sure that you get bored very fast.
-
Retro fans will feel acknowledged and loved but everyone else may miss the hype.
-
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a fun throwback to a simpler era, but visibility issues and a lack of online co-op get in the way of your enjoyment.
-
A magnificent tribute to retro graphics and music, but the game underneath remains a hollow tie-in.
-
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is a great homage to beat-em-ups of old that plays well, but is hurt by a few technical issues and gameplay missteps. No online co-op can also sour the experience.
-
Edge MagazineA detailed and intelligent fraud: a slice of cool, corporate entertainment for an audience that probably sees no contradiction within that notion. [Oct 2010, p.98]
-
There's a fairly good game here that's just marred by a terrible co-op system.
-
Quotation forthcoming.
-
This game is tough. Maybe I just suck at it but it seems unreasonably hard for what I expected to be a fun brawler. Then again, at least it didn't turn into licensed shovelware.
