Fan favorites such as Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more will join Sonic in their custom built vehicles, revving their engines and jostling to stay ahead of the pack. Each character will speed around the track in cars, planes, motorbikes, and in Aiai’s case – a banana mobile! Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium. But winning is only part of the fun in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing! Each character has a specific All Star move – such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado – that allows a quick way for competitors to get back into the race! Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position. [Sega] Expand

  1. All Stars isn’t an overly ambitious racing game and won’t turn the kart racing genre on its head. It has some minor framerate issues and the varied character selection is at odds with the less varied bevy of tracks. You won’t see this game fly off the shelves as fast as anything with the ’Mario Kart’ name on it, but if you are a fan of kart racing to any degree, you’ll find something immediately appealing in what’s offered here.
  2. There's plenty to do when playing alone or in split-screen multiplayer. The only real downside is that the online multiplayer is restricted to just racing.

Kids'll love it, but it's lifetime adult gamers who'll truly relish this nod to a legacy a quarter century in the making. [May 2010, p.83]

This racer is surprisingly deep and robust, and even with its unoriginal design it's a great time no matter which version you get.

It's got Sonic in its name and it's good. Been a long while. [Issue#190, p.72]

Polished, and fun to play, but this is lagging behind more creative racers. [Apr 2010, p.94]
  7. This is the best Mario Kart experience one can get without owning a Wii, with party graphics and clever courses. Entertaining for console gamers of all ages.

It has A lot of your favorite characters and a large selections of tracks. There are also a few modes that you can do with multiplayer similar to Battle mode in Mario Kart. Online is pretty nice feature but only a select few on it at a time. The single player is deep in the sense that their a lot to do but variety wise not really. The single player can definitely last you a good time. Great 4 player split screen multiplayer when you have family or friends around. The controls are pretty smooth From being able to change direction smoothly while drifting. All characters have a special move too which gives a bit of uniqueness. Most importantly No Unblockable/Unavoidable Blue Shells like in Mario Kart to cheaply take you out of 1st place Expand

I borrowed this game from the public library on a whim and I am glad I did. Despite being an almost carbon copy of the Mario Kart games, II borrowed this game from the public library on a whim and I am glad I did. Despite being an almost carbon copy of the Mario Kart games, I found this one somehow funner. Perhaps, it was just because I like the PlayStation controllers better than any controller Nintendo has. My favorite aspect of the game was that no matter what you do or how horrible you do you still get money after each race/event to spend on new tracks or racers. This made everything seem worthwhile and rewarding. I haven't played multiplayer online, but the split screen is awesome and tons of party fun. If you like Mario Kart or just want a lighthearted racer, this game will not disappoint. Expand
