  1. Excellent graphics, simple controls, no tilt and just a really fun game, Super Stardust HD is the must have game for PSN.

So is Super Stardust HD better than "Geometry Wars"? That is something that will likely come down to personal preference. I happen to much prefer Super Stardust for its diversity of gameplay -- multiple weapons, multiple stages, multiple ways to build up score -- and its better graphical and aural presentation.
  3. SSHD is a great package - it's complete, timely, expertly produced and at just £4.99 it's absolutely essential for any shooter fan.
  4. In every other respect, Super Stardust HD is an absolute star, the jewel in the crown of the PlayStation Store and quite possibly the best purists' shooter to appear on console since the legendary Geometry Wars.
  5. 87
Addictively satisfying mechanics, great visuals and tactical yet simplistic design. In truth, and I say this as a heavy duty "Geometry Wars" player myself, Super Stardust HD is not only just as good as Bizarre Creation's it's in many ways better.
  6. Graphically, as PSN games go, Super Stardust HD is superb, and it nicely combines the neon glow of Geometry Wars with the detailed retro pixel work of the first Stardust. The difficulty level is spot on, providing a challenge without causing a headache.
  7. If you have room in your heart for yet another Robotron clone, Super Stardust HD is a good addition to this well-worn genre.

Invest a little time in it and you'll be hooked. There's an amazing amount of strategy integrated in what seems to be a standard shooter. The controls are basic, but the gameplay is anything but. I'd recommend it to my friends if it was $60 like a normal PS3 game, but at $10 I recommend it to anyone. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but it's a small investement for what might turn out to be your new favorite game. Expand

Lots of fun, lots of challenge, and lots of pretty explosions and graphics. I love downloadable titles because with a few dollars I can buy original games that are almost infinitely better than $60 full games like The Godfather or The Darkness. Definitely buy this game and play it like crazy. Expand

I bought it, because it is one of the rare two-button-shooters on the system. There are also 3 types of weapons on the first planet. But when you play the game for two hours without advancing at all - I got stuck before the first checkpoint - the game gets boring very quick: Always the same enemys and weapons don't make you play is as long as you might one day absolve the whole planet after 10-20 hours of training basically the same stardust game I played in the eighties. There might be much more variety, but the game is simply too hard for that gamer with 30 years of experience that I am - I am not too good at action games I admit. So, maybe fans of hardcore hard games might like this, but I regret the 8 euro I spend on the game. Expand
