Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 revives the classic Commando franchise with an all new adventure. Fight solo or recruit two other specialized commandos to defeat the evil tyrant, General Ratiev and his army of Zalestad soldiers. This frantic war fest combines precise, old-school gameplay with High Definition 3D graphics. Play as codename Wolf, Coyote or Fox as you take on waves of soldiers, rescue P.O.W.’s and blow up armored vehicles through a variety of dangerous battlefields. The missions become even more chaotic in 3 player local or online co-operative campaigns where the game adjusts its difficulty, so don’t let your guard down. Jump into tanks and jeeps together to boost up your firepower. With loads of weapons and power-ups at your disposal, gear up and blast your way to victory. [SCEA] Expand

Despite the minor flaws, I loved most every minute of Wolf of the Battlefield. This is a great game to pop in when you're sitting around with only a few minutes to spare, or when a couple of friends are looking for a quick way to kill some time.
  2. For $10, you get a great presentation, packing plenty of action, three difficulties, scoreboards, and online play.

It's a solid enough action title, but there's little variety on offer, which was also true of the arcade original. [Aug 2008, p.104]

If you're looking for some brainless, thow-away thrills, Wolf Of The Battlefield provides polished, no-frills action. [Aug 2008, p.80]
  5. Commando 3 is an all-too-brief shooter that delivers high-caliber fun in solo and cooperative bursts.

The nostalgia of the Commando name isn’t enough to carry this one beyond the ordinary, and the lackluster graphics and generic art style don't help either. As arcade shooters go, Commando 3 isn’t a bad game, but it's just nothing special.
  7. There’s a real lack of enemy variety, as well.

If you want to get your money's worth out of this one, then start out on the 4-star difficulty. Dont play the easy difficulty, because you will beat it on your first try and ruin the fun. It is just how classic commando was, 3 lives then GAME OVER. No continue or any of that fairy stuff. Its game over, you start from the beginning. Like I said, play it on hard. Expand

8/10from me - best played with others but retro fun even in single player.

But after a while I noticed that this is an arcade game all the way. So you can't save between levels, you have to finish the game from start to end in one go. Who has the time for that these days? And it's a very difficult game too. Also, it's kind of repetitive so I would have enjoyed playing this in short bursts, that's not possible though. Expand
