Feb 1, 20198 Bit Hordes is a nice addition to the 8 Bit series, especially with the fantasy centered theme. The gameplay is essentially the same, which is great for fans of the previous game. For RTS fans, you'll appreciate the ability to control three different groups while managing your resources.

Jan 29, 2019In summary this is a very addictive game. It is really well thought out and accessible to all skill levels. Controls on the Dual Shock are easy to master and general navigation makes sure you keep up with the action. This is a delight to play and I am sure that it is going to pleasantly surprise a lot of people as it did for me.

Mar 4, 20198-Bit Hordes doesn't do anything special but will provide a fun and comfortable experience to new players of the real-time strategy genre.

Oct 8, 2018The second game is a trilogy but not necessarily an improvement. Sure, the campaign has been expanded upon and the troop management aspect works like a charm. At the same time input registration is flaky and the selection wheel can really get on your nerves for not being accurate enough. The online part of the game is already extinct and that is worrisome to the game's lifespan.

Feb 1, 20198-Bit Hordes is by no means a bad game, but perhaps an example of a missed opportunity. It doesn't reach a place as either a nostalgic throwback to previous strategy titles or as a beginner's game in the RTS genre, lacking the deep elements that keep those things afloat. That said, it still has its moments, and those after a relaxed strategy game might find something here.

Jan 30, 20198-Bit Hordes is a pleasantly diverting and fast-paced “blast”-style throwback to the heyday of the RTS, with plenty of charm. It’s also easy to pick up and play. But its major lack of depth will turn off hardcore strategy fans, and several annoyances detract from what would otherwise be a polished product.
-
Jan 21, 2019A voxel based console RTS that tries to simplify things for the platform but comes up short. There is a whole lotta game here but the simplistic controls and poor AI end up making the whole experience hard to enjoy unless you really love the RTS genre.
