Although it seems clearly inspired by The Legend of Zelda series, A Knight’s Quest forms its own footprint. Despite a few minor setbacks, A Knight’s Quest does a great job delivering a fun, light-hearted adventure. Its funny storytelling sets it apart and makes a welcome addition to the Switch library. Genre fans should certainly check this one out.
There is an incredible amount of charm and character to A Knight’s Quest. I’d strongly encourage anyone who thinks they can get past the technical and combat issues to give A Knight’s Quest a try. While those issues are substantial and may turn some off, there is an amazing game resting just below the surface.
It's a beautiful game, fantastic art style and great platform gameplay. Combat wise it's not the most polished game, but it has potential and there's lots of fun to have here.
Soundtrack it's just fantastic, this is an amazing start for a small company.
It sure doesnt deserves all the hate it's getting.
I'll give a perfect score to balance this downright injustice
This game has charm, this game has ambition and this game has love in it, i dont know why everyone wants to **** on everything that is not a "AAA" game, its not in its perfect state, but far from deserve a 3, i will give it a 9 so it counters the "just hate"
A Knight´s Quest is a good game to younger players. The title presents a simple history with simple challenges. The graphical side is a little bit poor, but it can be a good choice if you want a classic adventure at a good price for a younger player.
It can be difficult for small studios to get a good start in the video game business. At Knight's Quest proves it once again. It's not a bitter failure, as there are things to keep, but it's not enough to simply copy the great names of this industry to make a good title. The lack of originality and the chaotic technique got the better of the game for our part. On the other hand, if you are not afraid to play a RPG you have already seen 25 times, the story length and the price might seduce you.
A Knight’s Quest brings a much needed light-hearted take on the action-adventure fantasy genre, with a genuinely funny sense of humour running throughout and plenty of world to explore. It’s marred by a poor navigation system, inconsistent visual quality and an overall lack of polish. There’s plenty of fun to be had on this quest, but there’s very little to write home about when the Switch is full to the brim with similar titles that provide superior experiences.
The dialogue is enjoyably sarcastic, and it blends in political commentary in an impressively unobtrusive way, getting the point across without feeling like it has to slam you over the head with it. It’s still not funny enough to make it worth your while to play A Knight’s Quest, though. There are numerous games that do the same thing but in a much better, more interesting way, and you’d be better off playing any — or all — of them than wasting your time and money here.
That A Knight's Quest is being sold on the eShop at all is ludicrous. Combat, enemy design, the camera, the save system, and the script were all in desperate need of more time. Sky9 releasing the title as is, is simply downright embarrassing. Beyond the lack of polish and the frequent bugs, this is a title that ignores 20 years of conventional game design philosophy, and massacres itself in the process. Few have managed to mangle the basics of 3D combat so badly. Play anything else. A Knight's Quest is one of the worst games of 2019.
I was enjoying this game, but as I approached the end game, it started crashing more and more. It just crashed during a boss fight I was most of the way through, and somehow took all my health/buff items when it crashed (I seriously don't think I used all of those). I don't think I'm good enough to get through this battle without some help, so at 92%, this might be the end of the game for me. (Other crashes meant I had a bunch of stuff to do over again, a drag, but not fatal.)
More generally, I don't like that with this game, once you walk into a boss fight, you have no way out. If/when you die, you respawn into a locked area. So even without crashing, you can't decide you're not ready for this particular battle, either because you forgot to stock up or because it's a harder boss than you're ready for.
Overall, it's a fun game with good music and a reasonable story. The battle and item mechanics are a little wonky, but you get used to it. There are some weird ways to get sort of trapped in walls and end up dying (so, a little bit of missing polish), but I was really enjoying the game till the repetitive crashing started.
(I guess one way to deal with the 'getting stuck' would be to have an alternate save file, but I had only one save file I was using.)
This game was alright until you realised how the game saved. I was in the 2nd lava/fire dungeon and got a ways into it before dying. The game only saves when you leave and area but this dunegon zero loading screens and it saves what you have done in the dungeon when you die. The problem is that this specific dungeon had a hub area where you had to change the levels of lava to get to places so i ended being stuck at the start of the dungeon with no way to continue

The game is unfinished and suffers technical issues. The release is a disappointment, and I cannot recommend it.
Take note of the negative reviews, they are all true. This game has the MOST jarring and bad platforming mechanics. Controls as simple as a single button press is unintuitive as some in-game actions requires you to tap action button once whilst others require some sort of random series of taps or button mashing with no seemingly logical explanation or purpose.
The controls in-game are rough, inaccurate with game set design often relying on precision movements making this game a frustrating experience and not the good souls game type but the buggy type.
The saved system is nonexistent and saves at end/start of each stage (15 ~ 30 mins average interval). I would boycott the developers of this game as I’ve never encountered a game that’s as frustrating as this. New gamers, kids wouldn’t mind this hand but any RPG or Zelda fans stay away. Not worth any price and if Nintendo has a refund policy as good as steam I’d got my refund by now.
SummaryA gorgeous action adventure on an epic scale. Play as Rusty, a clumsy adventurer who accidentally sets about the end of the world. Solve mind-bending puzzles, fight challenging enemies, defeat huge bosses and platform your way through a fantastic open world.
