Agents Of Mayhem - Launch Trailer
Aug 15, 2017It's not easy to still find ways to innovate in the open-world space, but Voltion has managed to stay on the pulse of the genre well enough over the past few years. Agents of Mayhem is another strong entry in the developer's fan-favorite library, and has just as many memorable characters and moments as the best Saints Row titles. There are times where it feels like a bit of a grind, but even those elements are outmatched by Agents' charm. Saving the world has never been this vulgar or felt this good, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Aug 15, 2017Agents of Mayhem is cheesy, rarely funny, and generally ridiculous, but I was eager to play for long periods of time. The action is frenetic and fun, with room for strategy using all the characters’ assorted abilities. Even if Seoul ends up being a bland backdrop, I enjoyed being in the world and causing explosions in at every opportunity.
Aug 15, 2017Agents of Mayhem is an interesting experiment, but with short legs. While on one hand we have twelve agents all different and fun to use in fast-paced and dynamic gameplay mechanics, on the other hand we have a gameplay experience ruined mostly for the repetition of missions background and the copious presence of bugs and glitches ready to make you start a great run over again.
Aug 23, 2017There’s a lot of potential scattered around Agents of Mayhem but not enough of it is realized. The shooting and abilities are fun, the characters are interesting and could develop followings individually, but everything is hindered by a half-baked open world. No matter how fun the shooting is, the in-between moments are consistently a chore. If this was intended to spring a new series of games to life, the initial effort spits and sputters on the launch pad.
Games Master UKSep 7, 2017Mayhem's slick squad combat is wasted on repetitive mission design and a soulless open world. [Oct 2017, p.76]
Aug 15, 2017Personality can only take a broken and repetitive game so far. The attitude behind Agents of Mayhem has potential, at least if it's executed properly. But there's little to Agents of Mayhem beyond its foul-mouthed and bombastic attitude, which push the game into grating and obnoxious territory. Throw in the poor mission design and bugs, and you've got a game with loads of mayhem, but not much else.

The characters are awesome and diverse, the city is small but dense, the dialogue is probably the best part of the game. If you were a fan of Sunset Overdrive this game is for you, if not then it isn't for you. That doesn't make it bad like so many people are saying.
I would probably give it closer to a 7 but since people review things as either GARBAGE is PERFECT I have to give a 10 to help even out the score… Expand

Apart from the final two or three missions where I encountered some annoying glitches everything was like an amazing roller coaster. I am a fan of the Saints Row series and I can’t see any reason why people cannot enjoy both games. I am at a loss of why people criticised the game so much. Definitely one of the most underrated games. Under no circumstances should the game get only a 6 rating like now.… Expand

+ Character Designs were so awesome.
+ The overall Cartoony Art Style of the world and characters.
+ The overall Animations were spectacular and so so satisfying.
+ The futuristic setting of Seoul
+ Climbing and traversing the skylines feels great.
+ Combat was fun and challenging after bringing that difficulty level way up.
+ Switching between characters worked really well, better than expected.
+ No cover based mechanic, Just dashing, sliding and jumping while shooting.
+ The particle effects and explosion effects were pretty awesome
+ No Multiplayer/Co-Op
- Open World feels empty.
- Driving feels good but I feel like this game didn't need it. But because you had cars you had to make the open world big wide and drivable which contributed to the world feel big and empty. Traversing along buildings felt so much better and I could only imagine how great it would have been if driving was excluded and the map was smaller and condensed.
- The music was pretty non existent. Which contributed to the world feeling empty and dead. In a game like this inspired by the 80's I feel there was a big missed opportunity.
- Character dialogue felt a little forced. Note just because your characters are constantly talking, doesn't make them more likable, its the opposite.
- Can't backflip and shoot. It would have felt so good to backflip and shoot but currently when you try to step back and jump you just jump straight back no backflip animation which doesn't feel good or satisfying.
- No wall running while shooting. Felt like it would have been obvious to add some kind of running off walls and shooting animation in a game so over the top but it may just be me.
- Was not a big fan of Anime-Ish cut scenes unfortunately. It looked great but It would have been great if cutscenes were handled in engine.
Volition don't get discouraged by the negativity. This was a great idea for a game and I really hope you keep supporting it with expansions and DLC. I've watched all the livestreams since this games was announce and I know you guys put a lot of effort into this game. With some polish here and there you can have a hit. I hope this sells well because i would hate if volitions next game is another saints row game or some multiplayer game. I feel this game could have benefited from just having 4 small open world maps and remove driving completely.… Expand

A Sleeper hit
A gents of mayhem is a spin off game from the saints row series
where a group of heroes are assembled with their own hatred for the legion to take them down
The game takes place in south korea and the story is told with animated cutscenes and tons of humor and charm…
This is a bit of a 3rd person version of a hero shooter.. though completely single player
you start out with 3 characters, and once youre set free in the open world youre able to go and recruit the other 9…
The game handles the introductions and unlocking these characters perfectly…
and rightfully so as recruiting them makes up a hefty chunk of this 22 hour long campaign
To unlock a character you have to complete a mission with that character..
each characters mission introduces them, gives them a back story and their reason for wanting to take down legion…
and none of them feel throw away, every single character in this game feels fleshed out, both in their play style and their personality
These missions introduce the characters weapon, their special attacks, and their mayhem attacks..
They force the player not only to dip their toes in the water with each character, it forces them to prove they can succeed with that character as well
And each is balanced in a way that you may love 2 things about them but hate one… or really love one thing but hate the other 2..
This makes picking your favorite 3 so hard…
And keeping in mind you need a variety of characters in your squad for different objectives missions may throw at you..
Once you have your 3 favorite characters , its time to squad up and take the city for your own
A squad consists of any 3 characters
You can take these characters and clean up the town if youd like, taking over outposts so that you can unlock a regions side activites or claim currency terminals to increase you dollar per minute you earn back at your base
these side activities aren’t really too interesting or fun…
I don’t imagine many people will spend their time running around this tiny city doing them..
and other than unlocking schematics for new cars theres not much incentive to do them anyway..
speaking of cars this is how you will traverse unless you choose to jump and dash into the air, but the game makes it easy by letting you call a car instantly with the touch of the d pad
but sadly there is no fast travel here, youll be driving a lot
most of your time will be spent doing main missions and running through lairs or dungeons
These lairs and dungeons are found in story as well as in the global conflict section of the game which is where you send out your unused members to go out and earn xp and scraps for gremlin tech which is basically a consumable attack
These dungeons are where youll earn mods for your equipped characters
The mission structure here though is practically identical throughout all 20 hours..
heres the crazy thing though..
The game stays fun throughout inspite of this..
Im surprised how much I ultimately enjoyed agents of mayhem…
while the open world is shallow, the level design is extremely repetitive, and a low health indication like a harsh vibration or blood/discoloration on the screen doesn’t exist..
the heroes with their different moves, diolog, and personalities, the different villians that are fun to hate.. the overall writing in this game.. all of it keep this game fresh and fun throughout…
if youre a fan of hero shooters in any way.. don’t miss out on this one
I give Agents of Mayhem
an 8/10… Expand

Deep Silver needs to do better, these bugs should not be happening in a $60 release, this clearly needed a few months extra development time to correct some of these issues.… Expand
