"Anniversary Collection" consists of eight Konami arcade games from the 80's. It features seven aircraft-based shooters and "Haunted Castle", an alternate version of "Castlevania". Every title is enjoyable with the exception of the latter. Fans of the Dracula-themed action series will find it to be more frustrating than fun. The collection also includes "Nemesis", "Vulcan Venture" and"Anniversary Collection" consists of eight Konami arcade games from the 80's. Fans of the Dracula-themed action series will find it to be more frustrating than fun. The collection also includes "Nemesis", "Vulcan Venture" and "Lifeforce" which are similar to "R-Type". There is also "Typhoon" (which plays like "After Burner"), "Twinbee" (a cartoony "Galaga") and "Thunder Cross" which is basically "Contra" with spaceships. Finally, "Scramble" is the oldest entry in the set complete with 8-bit graphics. Game options are good, if not the best. You can change difficulty levels, increase lives, enable scanlines, adjust ratio sizes and add borders. Additionally, you can change the control layout. Retro fans should enjoy the Japanese versions of the games and a "Behind the Scenes" e-book. Overall, this compilation is good, but the "Contra" and "Castlevania" collections are even better. I would rate this with a 7 out of 10 Expand

While the games vary from must-plays to weak curiosities, this collection lacks the *cough* options of newer retro collections like SNK 40th Anniversary Collection. While we get difficulty adjusts, mid-game saves, and a PDF book, there’s none of the playfulness of SNK’s release. Still, it’s enough to keep your mind off leaked Stranger Things season 3 spoilers. Konami's first anniversary collection is a lazy compilation mainly directed to old-school-shooter lovers.

Konami starts off the celebration of 50 years of work with a nice collection of arcade games. The most games in this set did already come out on different platforms, but the bonus book is a nice addition. The Haunted Castle game does not make sense here.
