Anoxemia does have some issues, but overall it's well designed and once you get used to its flaws it's very enjoyable, particularly if you like this type of game.

Anoxemia has a great sense of atmosphere with an interesting plot but the whole package seems to lack a little punch. Exploration is fun to partake in and, whilst your objectives rarely stray from collecting things, there’s a certain enjoyment to be had from adventuring deep, down underwater. That might prove enough for some who fancy a shorter, more forgiving experience.

Anoxemia is a fun game at the start, but loses its charm quickly because of repetition. The second half of the game is more challenging, but it doesn't change the fact that it is very repetitive. A fun game to play in between others, but no more than that.

Overall, I had a mixed feeling about Anoxemia. The game is, by no means, terrible. It has a rather interesting story, although told in a minimalist style. It successfully evokes the ambience well with both music and aesthetics. However, I found myself unable to invest in both story and the environment. There is foreboding presence in the deep, but instead of being pressured or scared, I am just largely annoyed by the glaring flaws in the game design. If one could overlook these frustrating factors, this could be a somewhat enjoyable adventure game with a unique premise and solid puzzles. Unfortunately, these infuriating shortcomings require a great deal of willpower to overlook.

Anoxemia’s intended atmosphere is one of horror, yet I mostly felt annoyed. I wasn’t afraid or juiced up with adrenaline, I was just frustrated. If you’re looking for the wonder or the terror of the deep, you may want to look elsewhere.

Anoxemia in the dictionary defines; lack of oxygen in the arterial blood. Through out this game you struggle for oxygen. Now the true mission is you are working with Navy tasked with procuring plant species from the bottom of the sea, the main character is Dr. Bailey who is in a submersible that he use after his submarine crashes. The Navy maroons him at the bottom of the ocean and Dr Bailey decides to continue his mission collecting plants. If collecting plants were all there were to it we'd be in heaven, but as you explore there are many hidden dangers including nature itself as well as those that are man made with their mission being to take you out. The game gets tougher as you progress. You receive upgrades for your submarine that allow you to out smart any enemy.
    I rate Anoxemia 6.5/10 (Good).
The overall balance of the game was phenomenal made you as blind as you'd be at the bottom of the sea, the controls were basic yet this game was worth the play. Great job Badland Games.
