One of the most vivid games in my memory is the first Call of Duty, the campaign that made me simply happy to play and replay it over and over. This time around the campaign is amazing. I love it. Characters are great, the story is compelling and both audio and visuals are of the best quality I have ever seen in CoD. I can see myself playing it again and again alongside the first games. Props on this one. And man, I wish I could buy a singleplayer only for a third of a price because the rest of this game...

Zombies have zombies. Enough said. I vomit with zombies. Movies, TV, games, zombies are everywhere. They are boring. They were boring years ago. Just stop making zombie games and movies already! They've been done to death... Pun intended.

Multiplayer is weird. You have that new hub section where a bunch of people run around, open boxes with random **** and do nothing but look for a menu to see the multiplayer modes. It's confusing at first but it is a good idea... but seeing loot boxes being open, seeing other people getting some random junk made me realize that the point of this hub is to gloat about your loot. Nothing social or interesting takes place here, just consumerism at its finest! The gameplay itself is like CoD of old. No recoil, no strategy, no thinking. Maps are built with sniper nests and choke points from grounds up, so... every game looks exactly the same. It gets boring after a while and because of how weapons handle you feel like the game was programmed as your first shooter - when you're done go play something better (most games are better).

To sum this up. Singleplayer campaign is an easy 9/10, multiplayer is for me 3/10 (7/10 for CoD players) and zombies is about -1000/10. It's a shame you can't buy just the singleplayer, I'd pay for that.

This game is SO poor: graphics are nowhere as it should be on today's consoles, animations are the same as 10 years ago, explosives are poorly done and the indestructible and hidden borders of the environment is something retarded.

That's because of the old engine from the beginning of the franchise. They just 'modified' it but the basics remain the same. The download package is 70GB (!!!!), all of which is bloatware. We're not talking about ultra HD graphics are heavy renedering for next gen consoles.

The gameplay in multiplayer is very arcade, very fast and it's like I'm playing against and with bots. They all move so jerky. Shooting mechanics are poorly done, it doesn't feel right, it's all too fast. After a MP round, it takes ages and ages before a new game starts and you have to stare five minutes at the scoreboard without any possiblity to go to another screen.

What's great? The unlockables, the perks and kill cams are still great and something to play for. But the gaming experience is so so so poor and it's painful to see how the gaming press keep giving it high scores. Perhaps it's because of the Campaign Mode, which I'm not interested in.

But the whole game experience and above all, the game mechanics are retarded and outdated. This is a game for PS3, not for current gen consoles. Once again, you should be ashamed Activision to support publishing a cheap rip off of this franchise. IW or Sledgehammer MUST create a new engine for this game.

This is like like playing FIFA 07 on a PS4 in 2017.

Single player seems fine, even if it is more of the same. I play COD for the multiplayer but this is a step backward (and I don't mean because its BOTG). So far for me it is purely twitch gameplay which means you can't play smart. For most of the COD multiplayers I'm a 2.0 KD player. I like to outsmart people, not just out reflex them. Sniping is a joke, no point when a AR can pick you off across map. Shotguns are way to powerful (probably will be nerfed). Overall the movement and aiming feel floaty, like AW. I'll keep playing for now but I'll probably be going back to MW remastered soon. Please Please make a Modern Warfare 2 remaster!

    FWIW my top COD multiplayers:

This game is horrible. Literally the only redeeming quality is parts of the campaign but even then it is one of the shortest campaigns in CoD history and still does nothing compared to CoD4/MW2/WaW/BO1/BO2.

The MP... good lord is it horrible... guns lack any authenticity and are completely reskins (Tommy gun is literally the ASM-1 of AW). Returning the moment I leave work.

Maybe COD should take a cue from Ubisoft and take a year or two break from COD and really take the time to craft a sick shooter, with an actually good campaign, and awesome multiplayer. There hasn't been a decent COD game since Black Ops One, and even then, that's where the series started to change for the worst. Even the remake of Modern Warfare has left little to be desired. Twitch shooters are not fun, just mindless running around. I really wanted to give this game a chance, as they promised going back to the roots. Well, they went back to the roots of Call of Duty on the surface only, that being a themed game in World War Two. That's the only thing. It is still a stupid, mindless twitch shooter. My first hour in, I was four matches into playing just regular Team Death Match and my soldier score was 16/45 with a KDR of .36. I don't seem to have that trouble on games like Battlefront or Battlefield. I do like the layout of the maps, lots of choke points, but the fact remains that this is a twitch shooter. The gameplay gets very tiresome very quickly. The last Call of Duty game I "bought' brand new was with my Xbox One and that was Ghosts. Ghosts was a better attempt to fix the last couple of releases prior to it, but still fell short. I vowed never to buy a COD game again. Yet the promises and hope that Activision finally drilled into the developers heads that the players wanted a solid COD game again, has fallen very short. It's the same rinse and repeat re-skinned twitch shooter. So now that I have wasted my money, I can say that I am officially DONE with this franchise. I will never purchase another COD game new. I didn't even buy the remastered Modern Warfare new because I had a feeling it was going to be trash, I bought it cheap on ebay and I recommend anyone wanting to give this game a chance to wait a while and do the same, get the game cheap on ebay as a re-sell and the company doesn't get the profit. OH, and if you thought the microtransactions of the last game were bad...wait until you see COD WW2's. Micro transactions everywhere. This is a trash game, save your money and continue to have faith in DICE and the Battlefield series...they for the most part listen to their customers and deliver a mostly solid game. Expand

The campaign is mediocre, the multiplayer is copy and paste from every year. It just isn't worth it. Cod is a dying franchise.

The multiplayer seems to be different for those who are used to jetpacks yatta yatta. We are heading back to WW2 and it feels nice for a change. I topped the leadboard on my first match with flame shotgun bullets. It was satisfying for sure. Although there is something that I do not like about this game, and it is the fact that they tried so hard to make this a game that would be played for hours on end, with amazing detail and what not. Unfortunately this game is not amazing and lacks a lot of graphical improvements and the optimization is just crap. I played on a 144hz monitor 2460 or 2K screen, with a 1080 graphics card and it didn't look all that great. The multiplayer is ok at best, but moving over to zombies, is just downright cringe worthy. The zombies look amazing art wise and their voices uncomfortable feeling which is great, but it just isn't as scary as we had hoped for the series. It has jump scares, but that is it. This Call of Duty, is by far an improvement for sure in some areas, but overall just isn't a game that I am interested diving more into. It was unfortunate because this was one of my anticipated game of this year, and it did not deliver to the hopes I thought it would bring. Expand

Time after time I'd fire a shotgun point-blank into an enemy's chest only to have it not register at all and be killed. Most gunfights are based on some perverse sense of luck rather than any skill. The weapon damage has no basis in reality. HQ is a waste of time, and the micro-transactions are simply another insult to an already poor game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Firstly, the campaign doesn't even touch on the idea of Russians, Japanese and/or the German point of view. Same old "americans were the only one with souls and feelings, germans were robots" clichè. They included a black person with another "you underestimated the blacks" clichè and totally dumped historical correctness for the sake of political. Same goes for the women characters which had no purpose to be women and could have easily be replaced by more appropriately for the historical time men.
The game conveys no feeling, similar to how WAW conveyed feeling of horror just by the looks of the menu, the soundtrack and so on. I can associate any COD with some feeling, but I can't associate WWII to anything. In addition, I didn't notice any impressive soundtrack.

Let's touch on the Mutiplayer. The moment I open the menu I see how terrible the UI is. In fact, I wonder if it could be worse than that. It's confusing, cluttered with stuff, backgrounds change, blur and have no relation to one another when you navigate. Navigation is horrible. It feels more challenging to open weapon customization than reach lvl 20 in zombies. I can't see scoreboard during a multiplayer match. I have to go through a few tabs, then one option down, then a popup for confirmation in order to leave the match. I can go on for hours about what's wrong with the UI.
Maps are mostly terrible. 3-lane, boring, no diversity, nothing fun or special about them. Such a rushed design. I will leave it here regarding multiplayer.

Zombies are lacking the horrific Treyarch feeling. There is unnecessary customization. Playing zombies is extremely easy. No soundtrack, no cool sound effects when you pick up a drop, it just doesn't make me want to replay it.

Overall, the game is horrible, rent it, play the campaign and get rid of it.

This back-to-basics approach is comfortable as an old shoe, but the new additions are hit-or-miss and the lack of risks taken won't do anything to win back those who found the series to have gotten stale some time ago.

    The campaign:
Sledgehammer Games shows once again that they're almost as good at telling stories as the team at Treyarch. With the exception of the protagonist (whose voice actor has some trouble maintaining his southern accent), I actually cared about the characters. I wasn't a big fan of the gameplay changes though. The removal of recharging health for a limited bar that you need to keep an eye on is at odds with the chaotic nature of the action where bullets come at you from every direction. The new squad system where your AI teammates can resupply you with ammo and first aid kits is interesting, but not fleshed out enough to have any real impact. While I was invested in the story actually playing through it wasn't something I enjoyed all that much.

    Zombies:
I think WWII actually has one of the best iterations of the fan favorite cooperative mode. The new tone and setting are really creepy giving it a distinct vibe. All of the abilities, power-ups, and single use skills will be easier for newcomers to wrap their heads around than they were in Black Ops 3. While this change may not sit well with some, I love the addition of regularly updated goals for the sense of direction they give. Of course playing with randoms isn't ideal. Especially if you or they don't have a mic. This is still a mode that is at its strongest with friends.

    Multiplayer:
The biggest portion of the package and the thing that's kept this franchise alive. It's where you'll feel the effects of the return to boots-on-the-ground style gameplay the most. With the removal of all the movement systems introduced over the years as the series pushed further and further into the future this really does feel like playing old school CoD. The new War mode can be quite a bit of fun with each map offering different objectives for teams to complete in order to win the match. It adds some nice variety, but can be a little unbalanced at times with certain objectives giving one side a clear advantage over the other. The Hub is kind of an odd addition. Giving you a place to interact with other players. It has its amusements, but for the most part I never used it.

The loot box system is understandably controversial as it has led to the inclusion of microtransactions. They are totally frivolous though as all they offer are cosmetic options. They're given out at random and you can earn them by completing "contracts" that require you to complete certain challenges. You can even get specific things you want with the easy to amass in-game currency by going to the Hub. So you'll never feel pressured to spend any money on them. Personally, I kind of like them as they mean I don't have to hit some crazy goal just to get a stupid charm or skin for my guns.

Newcomers and longtime fans alike are going to face a bit of a learning curve when it comes to navigating WWII's confusing mess of menus. I don't know why Sledgehammer decided to ditch the sleak, easy to figure out layout of previous CoD titles, but it wasn't a smart move. Its the kind of thing that helped put Medal of Honor: Warfighter in a very early grave and has kept me from ever sticking with a Battlefield game for too long. I also encountered a startling amount of disconnects from matches. The stability is quite questionable given the meaty update sizes.

    Technical:
Patch sizes are something Sledgehammer really needs to work on. I've been able to get every update put out for all of both Treyarch's and Infinity Ward's entries in the series over the years without ever having to worry about whether or not I had enough space for them. Here though I had to clear out a nice chunk of memory to make room. This was in issue for Advanced Warfare as well and I abandoned that game because of it.

    Conclusion:
If you've wanted to see the series return to a more grounded style of play that's free of laser beams and robots then this is the CoD for you. Sledgehammer has tried to add some defining changes to the mix with varying degrees of success. Overall though this is another solid addition to the franchise and a sign that perhaps we haven't seen everything this conflict has to offer.

I personally enjoyed the game quite a lot. With this being said I also had a lot of issues with this game. Some of these were the maps aren’t the best, aren’t enough guns, killstreaks aren’t great, and the loot boxes are my biggest complaint. I overall enjoy the multiplayer and campaign even with all the criticisms.

    - The MP system sucks, too many perks that never get used and the kill streaks are actually boring. Along with that, it takes too long to unlock what you want with the skin you favor being locked behind a loot crate. I quit the game only after playing it off and on for 4 months and i only collected maybe 15% of the stuff that I actually wanted.

My game is lagging like really a lot. Every time I play, it starts to lag. Then when I want to continue someone killed me or my game does not want to continue. So, every time this happens, I must restart the whole game and start from the beginning. Then I also want to ask to bring in more powerful weapons. For example, it takes 4 shots to kill someone, and by that time someone already killed me. My game also takes very long to connect online or in multiplayer.

    The Pros of the game:
I really like the maps in the game. It has really nice hideouts for sniping. I also like to follow the story of how the game takes place. The best for me is the great graphics. It really looks realistic.

I would recommend this game to people who likes war games.

The campaign is the best in the Call of Duty franchise since Black Ops. It has stunning visuals, great characters and has a compelling story. It has replay-ability and manages to stay interesting. The only real negative of the campaign is that it is too action packed, which is a common problem with COD games. Huge explosions, great falls and unrealistic odds make the game unrealistic and goofy.

The online multiplayer (which for most is the highlight of the game) is the polar opposite of the campaign. The visuals take a hit and are noticeably worse than the story. The maps are boring and not very re playable and it is a forgettable and boring experience. The maps are small and linear, the invisible walls are unforgivable and 2 of the very limited maps are obvious copies of Modern Warfare maps. Unlike the campaign which was over the top, the multiplayer is so under whelming. On top of this, the multiplayer suffers from pay to win mechanics and poor servers. Most guns are locked behind loot boxes which you can either pay real money for or grind like hell, only to end up with customised weapon grips. A FPS has customised weapon grips which are barely visible! As for servers, i played the game about 7-8 months after release and i keep being kicked from games and being locked out of matches. After 8 months, this should have been fixed.

The final game mode is Zombies. Zombies is fun and interesting. There is a story and multiple different objectives and the map is huge. It is difficult however and is best played with friends in co-op.

Over all, this game is a mixed bag, excelling in some game modes but horrifically failing in others. The campaign is great, as is Zombies, however the Online seriously holds the game back from greatness.

The game is amazing looking however and the graphics are top notch. The shading, the environments and lighting are all great. The sound of basically everything as well is great. The base game-play at its core is very well polished. The shooting feels perfect and movement is smooth. The campaign has some likable characters but the story is so generic and short making investment useless. Its well acted and sometimes actually well written but its so predictable and the everything feels so forced in so it can be condensed into a few hours. The game-play is standard corridor shooting and can get very old but the squad dynamic and having teammates supply you with health and ammo adds much needed depth. The vehicle sections feel under utilized and out of place. The game does switch it up sometimes and has some very cool moments but overall very average. The multiplayer however is a disaster. The maps are super small and force you into the same approach every time. They all feel very similar and generic. The weapons are good however and pretty diverse and feel good to use. Customization is lacking with certain divisions locking off certain things. Score streaks feel very unrewarding and useless and make the multiplayer feel very empty. The hub area has some cool things like playing old Activision games and one versus one duels. Mostly its a glorified loot box show room though. The cosmetic loot system is so lazy and broken that items are literally reused with different names. The cosmetics do not fit with the WWII setting and break any possible immersion. Zombies has some cool horror aspects and a cool atmosphere but the positives end there. The map is convoluted and annoying to navigate. Enemy variation is lacking and many things are made to complicated like the horrible perk system and power ups. Overall a very underwhelming experience. Expand

Every mission has an element where you need to rescue someone, clear certain areas, hold certain areas for a time period, some allies dying violently and a little bit of quick time melee. You run and you shoot, as simple as that. Yes, the dialogues in this game are dull and full of washed out cliches, but it`s not a first FPS to abuse that and definitely not the last. COD WW2 also has a number of gameplay shortcomings that get quite annoying after several hours of playing, like indistructible tables or other seemingly fragile objects that absorb RPG shots and leave enemies untouched, or crazy damage the nazis do on high level of difficulty resulting in frequent one-shots. Also, the friendly NPC`s are often annoying as they constantly run in front of you making it more difficult to aim at the enemies.
But generally, I liked the dynamics of the game, I loved the missions where you operate a tank or a plane, the shooting itself feels pretty good, and the whole COD WW2 just feels like a solid game to spend a few eves with.

It has surfaced that rather than matchmaking, the netcode guys would rather "inject" random lag across all players. Over time, this shouldn't affect your K/D, but it is just wrong on so many levels. The objective is to give one player a lag advantage along with an emotional/mental high to keep coming back when they have a match go 17-5 in their favor. Not unlike a drug dealer. Where does it leave the casually good to exceptional player? They don't care and now I don't care. Every game since the original black ops has had this with some varying degree. How many times have you played on a team with one of these games and wonder how the majority of everyone went negative? It's there. Group this up with an anemic number of maps and some of the series worst score streaks, you've got a really boring game. I don't feel compelled to play it - I often forget that I have it. I'm sure not "buying" anything on it. The sad thing is, they'll promote a redux of MW2 when they realize no one is playing or buying it, but they'll do it with the same awful netcode like they did with MWR. This is why the series is dead. Your skill or desire to build a skill-set doesn't mean anything to them. Expand

The multiplayer feels as if they threw $20 into a usb drive and are now trying to run the entire multiplayer servers through that. It is appalling how poorly the servers have been since the launch nearly a month ago and I have seen no signs of it getting better. With the quick-scoping, you can miss by 3 meters and still get an instant kill (if you aim and don't hit the head, you may not get a kill). This takes so much away from the multiplayer that just this issue requires me to award the multiplayer a complete failure. I know there are people that love this, but it is ridiculous.

My other annoyance is all complete stupid little things you get for kills and how fast they come. I have had games that I quit because we were owning the other team so bad that it you couldn't play the shooter. I have joined games where the team I was on was getting so wasted that I couldn't even leave spawn - kept getting hit by all the perk crap, before I even took one step.

After the last three games, I have decided I will no longer buy a copy of COD. Too bad you had to keep going downhill starting with MW3... (for those of you that thought the nuke was cool, really!?!?)

Campaign: Remember when Call of Duty actually had good campaigns that could be considered a selling point? I'm talking about the Modern Warfare trilogy, World at War, Black Ops 1 and 2, etc. This campaign does not fall into this category. Daniels is a bad main character. The game spends a lot of time trying to make the player feel bad for him, but I simply don't know enough about him to feel any emotion towards him. There are some interesting new mechanics in the campaign, such as health that can only be replenished using medkits, and squad members being able to resupply, but the resupply mechanic needs work. The only reason I took stuff from them is because they would not shut up until I took it from them. I had to toss grenades randomly on purpose just so my squad member would stop screaming every five seconds that he had grenades ready. The opening level is very good, you get a good sense of the danger soldiers faced and how grim the battlefield is. Every level after this is nothing like level 1 and they just get boring after a while. I think this game could have benefited from a branching stories campaign like World at War, because fighting Germans exclusively gets old, especially knowing that WWII wasn't only fought between the U.S and Germany. Overall, the campaign is a waste of time.

Multiplayer: Awful. The game only came with 9 maps, which should be considered unacceptable. Headquarters is a waste of space. Call of Duty doesn't need a social hub and it only caused the game to crash or simply not work for about a month after release. The weapons are unbalanced. There is auto aim on the snipers and SMGs and shotguns are definitely overpowered compared to the assault rifles and LMGs. War mode is a joke. Given the run and gun style of COD multiplayer and the fast death times, how did they think an objective heavy mode like this would work? But the worst part is I'm writing this review more than a month after release and the game is still broken. Crashing is still a big issue, the supply drops you supposedly earn during games never appear in your inventory, and hit detection is still awful, and Sledgehammer has the nerve to push their first DLC pack while the game is still broken and they do nothing about it. A very bad experience.

Zombies: I don't have much to say about this, but it's not very good. I'm a big fan of Treyarch zombies, so I had high hopes, but it didn't deliver. The characters are boring and the map is one big boring circle. It's also too easy. The game's equivalent to Juggernog on steroids is available right from the start for a measly 500 jolts, This mode is nothing special.

This game alone has made me skeptical about buying future COD titles, but it has ensured that I'll never buy another product with Sledgehammer's name attached to it ever again.

After that game I lost interest in the series as I began to hate the direction the series was starting to go to. I didn't pick up or play any of the jetpack games, Ghosts through Infinite Warfare, as it finally looked like Call of Duty lost its way, and what the series was initially about.

When WWII was announced I was a little excited that they were going back to boots on the ground, going back to WWII, and going back to the series roots. Though I was skeptical, and became a little disappointed in some of the features they were implementing, or blatantly ripping off from other games, I still decided to pick the game up on launch day to play it, and hopefully get that same feeling I had when I played CoD 2, 3 and WaW. Sadly, this game is probably one of the worst, if not the worst Call of Duty game I have played.

    To break it down:

    Weapons -
Dont even bother using any of the other guns unless its the STG 44 or BAR, as silent SMGs dominate in this game. They are great in CQC, and can outgun nearly any sniper rifle, LMG, or typical
semi auto rifles at medium and long range. STG and BAR have nearly 0 recoil, and again can out shoot any of the other weapons at medium to long range. Don't bother with the shotguns unless you run with the incendiary rounds loaded as even nearly point blank, shotguns are a 2 hit kill.

    Maps -
These are probably the worst maps in Call of Duty history. Every map is a chokepoint meat grinder. It's you're typical 3 lane map, but there's no tactics involved. They become a meat grinder as they are poorly designed. Maps are filled with clutter, no flanking routes, terrible spawns, and they are easy to spawn camp on. Unless you like to die over and over and over due to campers camping your spawn, you'll probably not enjoy these maps.

    Matchmaking-
The matchmaking in the game is equally as terrible as anything else. You'll constantly be put on teams filled with the worst players in the game, as the enemy team is stacked with above average and good players, which just results in a steam roll for the enemy team.

    Gameplay-
This game is filled with players hopping around like Master Chief, and dropping down onto their bellies to drop shot you. Due to all the clutter on the maps, you'll get everyone headglitching behind an object.

    Zombies-
Zombies in WaW was fun. It was addicting. Zombies in WWII is utterly boring. Played 1 online round of Zombies, got to level 30+ and everytime I died or go downed, I was praying the game would be over. I was that bored of it. I was bored of the game by level 15. It was just too easy to advance. I never felt threatened by the zombies at all. It was just boring.

This game is just utter crap. It is probably the worst Call of Duty that I have played. I was hoping that when they said they were going back to boots on the ground, they were going back to Call of Duty 2, one of, if not the best game in the franchise, but with modern tech. Nope. This game feels like it was made in 2006. Unbalanced weapons, matches, poorly designed maps, which look like one of the developers toddlers designed them, horrible lag, and matchmaking, and ultimately just a poorly developed game. The fact that this game took 3 years to make is astonishing as it looks like they did everything in 6 months. Wait, Call of Duty 3 was developed in 8 months, and was a better developed game than WWII. There was no sense of accomplishment when you do well, no satisfaction when you kill an enemy who was besting you the whole match, no sense of pride as you rank up yourself, your division or your weapon. I was extremely disappointed with the game, and I didn't have a lot of expectations coming into it. If you want to play a good WWII game, play any of the older Call of Duty games. Play Medal of Honor Frontlines/Rising Sun/Airbourne/Allied Assault, they will all give you a better experience in a WWII setting, and online, and be a whole lot more fun than this game.

The only thing that is redeemable in WWII is the new War mode. That is the only redeeming factor in the game. Even then, there's only 3 maps, which get old fast. If you want to waste $60 on this game, I won't stop you, but I will warn you I wouldn't spend $20 on it.

I really don't understand why the developers have gone in this direction. Maybe it is to differentiate themselves from BF. Either way, the COD series has become a joke to serious gamers. I will not buy the next title.

Before I list the pros and cons I want to say that this review is not based on me being bitter or being a "hater" or any of that crap. I got my kill/death ratio to around 2.6 so I'm a lot better than the average player. This is an honest review.

    Pros:

▪Not a bad campaign but not great either.
▪Graphics are good in the campaign and average in multi-player.
▪Footsteps are easily heard unlike MW Remastered.
    ▪ I personally like the new HQ instead of just sitting looking at a lobby screen. Pretty cool how you can look around and interact with different things.

    Cons:
▪Team balancing is horrendously poor. I played around 100 games and was on the team full of clueless morons about 75% of the time. A lot of games were not close at all, too one-sided.
▪The game lags quite often and has caused me multiple deaths (Not my connection as every other multi-player game is fine).
▪There is something massively wrong in multi-player. In many 1 v 1 gunfights where on my screen we (Me and an opponent) see eachother at the same time and I shoot first, get about 10 bullets into my opponent and he picks his **** gun up whilst being shot and drops me in 2 bullets. I watch the killcam and somehow he was already shooting me before I even lifted my gun up?? He had taken no damage either WTF??! Absolute joke.
▪Loot crates should not be in any game ever unless the game was free maybe. People already paid £50+ for the game and these greedy developers aren't satisfied and want more money for doing nothing basically.
▪Perk system/Division is just stupid in my opinion as it restricts you. If you don't want to show up on the enemy UAV then you have to use the Mountain division. You may also want to resupply from dead enemies.. Nope! Sorry, you can't have both as resupplying is in another division. So dumb. Should have just had normal perks as usual.
▪The maps are absolute garbage except 3. The other 6 are just painful to play. The inept developers had very little imagination when designing them. Only 9 **** maps in the base game is absolutely pathetic as well. The war game mode has its own 2-3 unique maps but that gamemode is pretty poor anyway.
▪They are copying off Battlefield with the Bayonet charge, War mode etc.
▪Gameplay is too fast paced.. everyone runs around like they are **** Olympic athletes on steroids. Why can't the game just be a bit slower paced??
▪Guns have basically no recoil making it very easy for terrible scrubs to shoot you from 40 yards with an SMG, laughable.
▪No-scoping and quick-scoping is too easy. Something else that caters to the 10 year olds who think they are pros, Jesus Christ.
▪You die a bit too quickly. Well.. I do at least. On my screen I am killed instantly but when I shoot enemies it sometimes takes 15 bullets and that's without missing.
▪The community is absolutely cancerous. Sitting in windows or behind objects head-glitching, sitting in corners, drop-shotting etc etc. This is not the developers fault obviously but it is another reason not to buy this trash.

I could be on all day with the cons so I will just end it there. I give it a 2/10. Just absolutely terrible. The amount of **** which happens in multi-player is just mind-boggling. I almost smashed my controller on 10 seperate occasions. It's depressing thinking how great CoD used to be. WaW, BO1 were just brilliant. This **** doesn't come close to either. This is 100% the last CoD I ever, ever purchase. Deleted the game. Good **** riddance.

I got the deluxe edition hoping it would be a throwback to the good old days where you'd snipe from a destroyed building, lurk through tall grass, or hide in the carcass of a downed helicopter, but instead they got rid of all that realistic hc Tdm stuff to appease the trigger fingers of people who complain about camping. The result is that it feels more streamlined than ever, in a very backward way. No you can't climb that tower it's decoration. No you can't hide in that grass, it's decoration too. BF1 really ruined COD for me, that was truly next gen and I got this hoping Cod was really gonna go back to the roots and then innovate from there. Loved advanced warfare btw, sledgehammer makes good games, but the slow boots on the ground doesn't work IMHO if you're using a map style still suited for fast play in the vein of advanced or infinite warfare. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Thought this was going to be a great game, I was wrong! REALLY WRONG.
The campaign was ok, not great but just ok. The ending was disappointing and the story itself actually sucked.
Multiplayer: WORST multiplayer ever! Nothing worst than having opposing players shooting through walls to kill you. Wooden walls sure, but when you run around a corner of a brick wall and you die, come on COD, I'm sure your developers can do a better job than this.
If you're looking for a WW1 or 2 style of game just go and buy Battlefield 1, I am not a fan of the Battlefield series but it blows this COD away.
Bought this game less than a week ago and will be trading it in for something else today.
COD WW2 is nothing but an attempt to copy other games but instead of making a step forward they took two steps back!!! Not sure if they hired new developers but this game is awful. Poor gameplay, poor graphics, crappy maps and whats with the headquarters? HQ is stupid.
DO NOT waste your money on this game, not sure why some people think its a great game, they all must be high on drugs?!?!?!
COD needs to get back to basics and come out with a game that reflects today's world struggles such as Afghanistan, Iraq, ISIS, etc.....Modern warfare was a great game.

The worst part, is that they have censored WWII and made it politically correct.

Next Gen video games are ruining the gaming experience because video game developers seem to be simply riding the hype of next gen gaming while putting minimal effort into the actual performance of the games. Micro transactions have turned gaming into a profit first industry, have removed the artistic integrity of games, and have completely disregarded the consumer.

My advice is to buy this game used on Kijiji and prevent these developers from making m.ore money than they deserve

This game is not a true return to the glory days of Call of Duty like everyone said it would be. Setting it during WW2 didn't really do much since it feels exactly like the last few CoD games. Micro-transactions and loot boxes never existed during CoD's true glory days, yet they play a huge role in this entry.

There is a Destiny style social space that makes no sense. There's no benefit to having this feature apart from showing off to everyone what you get from loot boxes. This allows Activision to bank on other players jealousy and sell even more loot boxes.

The historical inaccuracies are really insulting too. Red dot sights and hollow sights did not exist during WW2, soldiers weren't allowed to wear colorful uniforms yet this game allows you to buy weird skins that do fit warfare or even the time period, AND WHY ARE THERE BLACK NAZIS? This is insulting to black people. Nazis were openly racist and I wouldn't want to dress up as someone who committed major atrocities against my race.

Swastikas are censored BTW. And you can play as female soldiers just as easily as male ones. SJWs have hit the gaming industry really hard.

Not gonna talk about zombies cause I'm tired of shooting zombies. ENOUGH ZOMBIES.

Campaign has a very good story and characters are interesting, but its too short. 6 hours is too little and this game was clearly developed multiplayer first with single-player as an afterthought. I won't be surprised when the day comes that CoD ships without a single player campaign.

DONT BUY THIS. LETS CHANGE THE INDUSTRY WE LOVE. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET.

Call of Duty 1 and 2 have the best campaigns as they were made with primarily a PC focus and the campaigns were the main draw point to those two. Those two are classics and this game definitely tries to recapture what made those so good. Its a pretty good campaign but very short (5 or 6 hours on hardened). The switch back to healthpacks instead of the regenerating bulls*** is a amazing choice here. So the campaign is great, whats wrong? Well the zombies is meh, not bad nor good. And the multiplayer.... Its still the same garbage tripe that the series has been pushing out the past few years. Advanced Warfare had one of the better multiplayer components in recent years and it still wasnt very good. This multiplayer is just bad, they took a lot of inspiration from the originals for the campaign but didnt do anything for the multiplayer. I do not understand how people still enjoy this after all these years and improvements from other series. Its the same garbage circular map design where its basically a matter of who sees who first with a focus on grinding so you can unlock the cheap a** weapons so you can mow down the lower level players who use pea shooters. Its the same unbalanced garbage that really requires very little skill and lots of bulls***. Its a shame because the campaign is one of the best in the series.

Campaign = 7.8/10 (still very short which sucks and some bad on-rails sequences and QTEs)
Multiplayer = 3/10 (very little good to be said about this)
Zombies = 5/10 (nothing new really, just a horror atmosphere and its just boring.)
Graphics = 9.2 (pretty damn good)
Sound = 9.5 (COD always has fantastic sound design)

Id say buy this used and beat the campaign then return it or get it on sale. The multiplayer is what really kills this game since its the main focus and its abysmal. But even though most of my review is negative, the campaign still deserves a lot of praise as a call of duty campaign since the past 5 have had absolute garbage campaigns.

They also added a "public" area for interactions with other players. The game servers run so poorly though that you can't even connect to random online players. If the game did run correctly, the game would make you go into these public area to open your loot boxes in front of everyone. They do this in hopes of sparking other players to buy loot boxes if yours contains a good weapon skin or other useless items.

Wow, I don't know what game the "real" reviewers are playing, but I'm glad that a site like this allows for players opinions, because for the most part, the players are right. MULTI-PLAYER REVIEW ONLY: I also want to get it off my chest that shame on the developers for trying to erase history by censoring the swastika, the biggest Nazi symbol there is. Everybody knows what it is and what it represents but it's still a part of history and if you are going to make a WWII game, regardless, you should probably leave it in.

This game feels like a mistake. My bet is that Sledgehammer was going to make Advanced Warfare 2, and after Battlefield One's success and the fans hatred for COD in space, decided to scrap the work they had done on AW2 and rushed through this mess of a game. That's the best I can sum this up, as a rushed mess. I will disclose that I am a very big fan of Advanced Warfare, to date it's my favorite COD, I'm also a huge fan of Battlefield One, so grounded action is perfectly fine. This game cannot hold a candle to BF1, it's like comparing a Chevy to a Ferrari. HINT: Call of Duty is the Chevy.

Graphically, this game is definitely a step back, both myself and my wife commented on how much worse it looks, almost like a PS3 game. From the character models to the boring and generic maps, oh and small maps. But as any seasoned gamer knows, graphics aren't everything, so let's move on.

Sound: I typically give games of today a pass given the quality that exists with audio. gunfire is gunfire, bomb blast is bomb blast, nothing special, nothing spectacular. The sounds of burning humans is pretty comical though. The issue though is if you actually compare this game to Battlefield One, you can see the significant difference between the two companies and games, if you've never played BF1, then the audio is fine.

Game play: Well, it's not terrible, it's back to basics, but it's still just mindless run and gun. I read one "professional" review that stated it brought strategy back to the series, what?? No there is no strategy, it's just mindless run and gun, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Everything so far feels responsive, and though server matchmaking is an issue, when in game, it seems everything works fine. My biggest problem with COD, which has just gotten worse with WWII, is the quick scope sniping bull****. How do I know it's worse, let me tell you how, and you don't even need to watch the kill cams to see people completely missing people and getting kills. My wife, is terrible at video games, but she loves them, and tries to play them. One thing she could not do on any game, either COD or BF1, is snipe. Well, guess what, the sniper rifle is her favorite gun in WWII because of the lack of needing to be accurate. I've watched her, and I've watched the kill cam, it seems there is a hit box around the player, so that as long as your bullet lands within the box, it registers a hit. This is total garbage, and when the really good players figure this out, which they have, it makes some matches completely unplayable, the cannon map. There's no skill, you don't need to time shots, you just scope and pull trigger at the same time, dead. The game modes themselves look like all the same stuff, with the exception of War, but I can't comment on that because I haven't played that yet. There's not that many weapons and getting exotic weapons seems pointless because unless I'm missing something, they do not do anything to increase the stats of the actual weapon, just add like 10x exp or some Zombie kill perk thing. The class system is fine, no complaint there, just be careful when changing weapons, do not change weapon classes under a class, change the entire class. For example, if you have the shot gun class but want to use a machine gun, don't change the shotgun to a machine gun, you lose your incendiary rounds per, instead make a infantry load out.

Overall: I like it better than Black Ops III, which was returned to the store the next day, at least this one hasn't been returned. It's not nearly as fun as Advanced Warfare. If you want a really good shooter, pass this one up and get Battlefield 1. EA has to be laughing all the way to the bank, every time Activision releases a new COD game, it just makes their game look all the much better.

UPDATE: It's been returned to the store.

    - Terrible linear campaign
    - Historical inaccuracies
    - Only 8 MP maps
    - Feels like recent COD game with different skin.
    - Total let down wish I hadn't bought it.

Really was the last chance with COD for me and it has been really poor, never buying COD again.

The zombie mode is amazing as always but this time it's less cryptic with the addition of clear objectives. But the main drawback (which is a huge one) is the multiplayer...thank god they added the War mode and the headquarter as a lobby to join friend! Finally Activition is trying to improve, but that is pretty much it. The rest is still the same as always, corridor maps, run and gun, corner camping, people that plays for their kill ratio instead of the objectives. It's basically a Modern Warfare or Black Ops with a WW2 skin!; nothing new. Maybe I'm getting old but I'm tired of reflex shooters and would like something more immersive because right now I really don't feel like I'm fighting against hordes of nazis but more like farming kill for xp to unlock the next **** weapon skin for my pistol. The multiplayer is wildly inconsistent. Under the exact same circumstances one game it will take 3 bullets to kill a full health player and 6 the next game. The hit boxes for sniper rifles extend in a 3 foot radius around player making sniper rifles win every single time in close quarters with the auto aim snapping. It's broken and it's annoying as hell.

The campaign and zombie mode seems fine, but I am here for the Multiplayer...for your reference, my favorite games in the series were Modern Warfare 1 & 2 and Black Ops II, in no particular order.

This is one of the bigger disappointments in my gaming life, my friends and I were going to get the gang back together, after one day of this mess we will probably all be returning the game.

This is one of the bigger disappointments in my gaming life, my friends and I were going to get the gang back together, after one day of this mess we will probably all be returning the game. This game might look like boots on the ground WW2, however it doesn't feel like it at all. You're zooming around the map like it's nothing, it's a twitch shooter, I can't remember a COD game that felt so, for a lack of a better word, wrong. Advanced and Infinite warfare weren't my cup of tea, to say the least, but the way they controlled was in line with the setting and equipment.
My biggest complaint might actually be the maps. Not only are they tiny, they are weirdly streamlined, don't feel like authentic environments, just corridors with a coat of paint (ugly coat of paint too, the graphics in mp are very underwhelming). The interface in my opinion is a mess, the hub world completely unnecessary. Bottom line, I have no intention of going back to the game. Which is kind of sad, we were all really looking forward to this. Even World at War was a superior WW2 shooter. I won't give this game a 0, because it obviously just doesn't deserve that, but I do believe a 5 is a fair score, I am shocked by the positive reception by some gaming sites (apart from the single player). I'd say stay away from this one...

    1. I expected a much better visual experience when playing online. Graphics feel like they were pulled from a COD 4 -5 years ago. 2. This social hub or whatever it is.. yes, i know it's obvious but damn, way to copy Destiny. I want my COD to be simple with the menus and everything the way it has been. 3.

    3. LOADING TIMES.. HOEEEE LEEEEEEEEE (Holy!)... Even when leaving a match, i'm waiting ages until I can leave.

I give this a 5/10 only because I am a long fan of Call of Duty and I will always love the series. Despite the poor execution, it still offers that appeal in a WW2 game... Especially now that they have added 'WAR', a mode perfected by Battlefield and one I have always wish to see in COD. There are some things that need to get fixed and I'm sure they will over the next couple days but in my eyes, it's failed on launch unlike the past releases.

I'm a huge sucker for WW2 games but I have to say.. I miss the jumping, fast-paced gameplay COD evolved into.. and at this current moment, I can say I enjoyed IW way more that WWII.

Now, I, myself, don't play zombies. Which is a 1/3rd of the draw for most people. So take that into consideration when I say there's just not enough to warrant paying $80 for me. The campaign clocks in at around 6.5 hours. So don't even consider it if you're strictly a single player fan. The multiplayer is more of the same with a fresh (kind of) coat of paint. Same old bullet sponge casual mechanics, Same old glitches throughout that likely won't ever get addressed, but perhaps worst of all - completely unbalanced maps. I was a little surprised at this because map design for the most part has been fairly consistent in Call of Duty, but alas, never count the franchise out for brand new disappointments.

Some of the maps are just glaringly uneven. Objective based maps where one team is constantly fighting uphill in the open puts that team at a considerable disadvantage and makes for a 100% consistent rate of losses on those maps in my experience. Even with a party of 6 good players we found ourselves losing on those specific maps in those specific game modes.

The game is a joke. The franchise has been a joke for nearly a decade. Do not buy this game.

The zombies are darker, realer, creepier. Much better than the corny ones of the past.
Multiplayer/pvp..... hmmm. I wanted to like it , but it’s definitely just another year of twitch shooting reskinned for the time frame. There are a few new things added, which are welcome additions. The new social hub , headquarters, is just like destinys “tower”,...which is a welcome addition to me. I like that they added the shooting range. War is an attempt at adding something new and fresh, but honestly I’d rather go play some Battlefield 1 for that fix. Battlefields pvp is in a league of its own, compared to this. I had a match last night where I was watching a replay of a final kill cam that showed some nonsensical quick scoping for kills that weren’t even CLOSE to being a hit. I tried to upload the capture to YouTube from my PS4 , but it keeps giving me errors and not letting me upload it. Good for Activision that I can’t get this footage out. They’d be embarrassed , lol.
All in all, I really enjoy the campaign and zombies , but for my pvp fix there are newer , fresher things to play right now.

Like i said its not terrible but its certainly not worthy of anything over a 6 or 7 out of 10. The MP is as you'd expect. Solid and tight and raining loot crates. Activision go to extreme legths to try to convince you to part with your cash, its kind of embarassing to be honest. There's even a daily mission to watch 3 people open loot crates in the social space. Gunplay is good, sounds are good and the level design is overall pretty decent. Russian guns in the Normandy, in under three minutes is Omaha Beach taken (it took about half an hour until they arrived at the bunkers in reality, even Medal Of Honor did this right 15 Years ago). That was the first Mission. Okay, it was okay, I didn't expect much but it got worse. The driving parts are so fast, its like playing Need For Speed. And then the tankdriving... Horrible, especialy when my little Sherman with his short 75mm gun takes out multiple Panzer 4s and a freaking Kingtiger... What a laugh! Over alll it was a really nice showcase of how freaking great the americans where and that they won the war ALONE. Well, no... for me it's just bitter how they try to tell this story. I am german and yes, my great grandfathers fought in this terrible war. I know a lot about it. The Story forgot the Brits and Canadians, even on the overview Map there where no signs of them, STUPID. The resistance part of the game was a bit new and gave a new perspective but here was also nearly everything wrong. First i thought the Voiceacting was cool, all Germans speak perfekt german and the conversations made sense but then there was this one offizier that name i forgot... He spokes very bad german with a stupid acsent... and the game lost me once again. So the unrealistic story went on and I played through.... but then there was the part i was most disappointed: The scene at the end with the KZ... Just some random buildings, two hanging copses, some corpses on the ground... nothing really shocking nd tht is the problem. If yo visit a real memorial site of a KZ and you read all the history and look at the pictures you can't sleep for days, thats how horrific it really is and this game needet to tell this story better, more shocking. But no, it looks like a random prison with some people who might have died. Seriously? The developers didn't take the time for research, everything is wrong about it. The Bunkers, the Tanks, the Soldiers, the Weapons... I've been even to france, I know how it should look like.
But CoD isn't really about the campaign, right? So what about the Multiplayer. Well... It's standart, the Wa Mode is fun but nothing really new. I wish i could wright more about it, but the last three days where just a pain in the you know where. Server problems, buggy HQ, Lootboxes disappering. Nothing really works and thats all AFTER closed and open Beta. so no... nothing to be proud of right now.
But there's a Zombiemode. And yes, it's fun, but not for so long. pretty standart, too.
Overall this game is screwed and no recomandation at all!
Battlefield 1 did so much right last year. The campaign was great, Told many storyyys and you cared about the characters. The multiplayeer WORKED and was fun, too.

I really wanted CoD’s return to World War II to be something more than a solid game – but it’s not. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’ve already seen all this, that the developers (or perhaps the publisher) chose to create something as safe as possible. There’s just one campaign mission that surprised me with its scale, the rest is just a disappointing “best of Call of Duty”. The multiplayer is as good as usual, but it was infused with unnecessary systems resembling mobile titles, e.g spending in-game currency on pointless tasks of the “kill 100 enemies” variety. Missions that make you watch other players open their loot boxes are the pinnacle of absurdity. [13/2017, p.64]
