It’s great that a game that many may have overlooked on the Wii is being given a new lease on life on the latest generation of consoles. A new coat of paint and some fun new gameplay features makes Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! a very easy game to recommend to those seeking a challenging but super adorable adventure.

It's cute, it's colorful, it's Chocobo and you've probably already played Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon if you've owned a Wii in the past decade.

If you’re looking for a dungeon crawler fun and suitable for newcomers, this is a good choice. If you’re not, you’ll find much better options.

A very deep and interesting dungeon crawler RPG with tons of backdrops and dungeons to explore with our fantastic partner: an adorable Chocobo!

Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy is a solid Mystery Dungeon game with a good amount of content. It, unfortunately, sticks to a somewhat repetitive gameplay loop and, even with a few challenge dungeons with unique rulesets, can get a little stale. I still enjoyed my time with Chocobo, and Mystery Dungeon fans will find something to enjoy here, but the appeal to a broader Final Fantasy fanbase might be a bit more narrow.

With simple gameplay, charming story, chibi design and a flashy companion system, Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! is a title that can become an excellent entry for all those who have not played a roguelike game. It's a shame that, in the end, it ends up becoming a fairly repetitive project that denotes the same mistakes of the original Wii game.

It is worth it because of the engaging gameplay and the steep challenge provided and because of the ability to play in coop. The level of difficulty will lead to a couple of unfair situations and graphically speaking this is a pretty lazy rehash of an older title. The game is pretty expensive too and load times are surprisingly very long. If you can accept these issues then you'll have a good time with this game regardless. But oh boy, we just can't get used to that name!

A very good dungeon crawler that will definitely scratch that nostalgia-itch. Lots of depth to customisation, very rewarding combat.

A very good dungeon crawler that will definitely scratch that nostalgia-itch. Lots of depth to customisation, very rewarding combat.

Story however is quite generic and uninspired, and the noises the Chocobo makes during cut-scenes are diabolical and far too cutesy for my liking. I'm 27 years old and find this quite annoying and there is no option to mute or change the voice audio. However, on the basis that the game itself is great it is definitely forgivable.
