    Despite my initial hesitation, I found myself really digging Contra: Rogue Corps. My fears that it looked like a cheap, grody-looking, nothing game trying to cruise on a classic IP ended up being completely unfounded.

    Rogue Corps is elevated at times by the fact that it's hard to truly screw up a twin-stick shooter.

    It's almost impressive just how wrong this game is. As a Contra game, Rogue Corps almost goes out of its way to be completely inept. As a general shooter, its sub-par in every way...Slow, repetitive, and ugly as hell, Contra: Rogue Corps is embarrassing even by Konami's low standards, and this is all before we get to the weapons overheating.

    There clearly wasn't a real budget put into this game but I am having some fun with it anyways.

    Pros
    -I like the upgrade system.
    -The Story is somewhat interesting so far.
    - A couple of the characters have pretty cool ideas behind them.

    Cons
    - The VFX look outdated.
    - The controls are not the smoothest when it comes to aiming.
    - Overkill with the cursing in the dialogue.
    - AN OVERHEAT NERF ON THE GUN?? IN A CONTRA GAME?? REALLY??
    - They called it Contra.

    I think I speak for most people when I say I would have another sidescroller Contra. Topdown just doesn't feel right for Contra. NeoContra was a pretty fun game but not compared to the old sidescroller run n gun games.
    The character models aren't bad but the art style just doesn't look right. I get that they were trying to make more challenging with the overheat function but I'd rather they just nerf the weapons power a bit, plus the twinstick aim doesn't feel very precise so that adds its own challenge already.

    I still need to finish more of the game before i find anymore pros or cons.
    Maybe there are some awesome boss fights to be had later on that can get my rating for this game up a bit.
    I think the 0 scores are unfair but the 10's are unrealistic too. As of right now all i can give it is a 6.    … Full Review »

    One of if not the worst game of the year. What were they thinking??? It feels notging like CONTRA! Horiible and should be ashamed

    Great game that combines all the best things from all other Contra, multiple characters with unique weapons like hard corps, run n gun actionGreat game that combines all the best things from all other Contra, multiple characters with unique weapons like hard corps, run n gun action with multiple points of view like contra legacy of war and C the contra adventure and of course you have the aliens, mutants and other aberrations just like shattered soldier except not that disgusting , Nakazano the original producer of the Contra Series really outdone himself, this is the real Contra EVOLUTION, please give it a try at least before judging im sure if you look beyond the nostalgia googles of the classic side scroller contra games you ll see an amazing game… Full Review »
