The game takes place two years following a global pandemic which has wiped out just about everyone, but transformed millions of others into what survivors call Freakers – mindless, feral creatures, more animal than human but very much alive and rapidly evolving. Made up of hundreds of individual Freakers, Hordes eat, move and attack together, seemingly as one. Some Hordes roam the highways at night, while others, like the one in the demo, have found a food source that keeps it in a single location. Skills learned in his prior life as an outlaw biker have given Deacon a slight edge in the seemingly never-ending fight to stay alive. But will it be enough? [Bend Studios] Expand

Superb zombie-slaying combat and enjoyable motorcycle gameplay are integrated perfectly with a well-paced story. But the game’s major highlights are the terrifying zombie hordes which are unlike anything seen in a videogame so far.

Even with all the promotion we're seeing now, Days Gone still carries the aura of a title that could be miscast and possibly overlooked at a glance, like it was for me a few years ago. You don't know until you play, and this stands as one the more pleasant and satisfying surprises of the year for me. It's been a long road to this game, but the ride is worth it.

Days Gone is a blend of multiple open-world and zombie games. Even though the gameplay stays pretty much the same throughout the entire game, the acting, riding your motorcycle and the survival bits make this game worth while.

The game has weak shooting systems and some bad weapons, much like Red Dead Redemption II. But while the other games have been highly rated, Days Gone has had its legs cut out by the bugs.

The zombie apocalypse is well-trodden territory and the open-world spin of Days Gone can only differentiate it so much. There's a strong narrative focus, but Deacon St. John doesn't carry that weight as deftly as he could. There are highlights and fun tools available within, but the game doesn't push those forward initially, leaving the players to deal with some tedium first. Days Gone is a great foundation for something better though, so hopefully Bend gets the chance to improve upon it.

Days Gone is an above average open-world game that is brought down by a weak first act, poor shooting, and a lot of technical issues.

The game meets the baseline level of quality we might expect from a big-budgeted joint, yet it remains a tiresome, empty experience.

I have long wanted to plunge into the World as the plot of the series the Walking dead. So far, only the first hours of the game, and I'm absolutely delighted. The plot unfolds without haste, the hero is interesting, he wants to empathize. You want to live with him this way. And of course his bike! This is a separate topic for discussion. Thank you Sony for another interesting plot game. Expand

Just awesome. Beautiful world, great story and gameplay that lets you play the game any way you like. Some of the character acting by minorsJust awesome. Beautiful world, great story and gameplay that lets you play the game any way you like. Some of the character acting by minors is cringeworthy, there are graphic glitches every often but who cares about that? One of the very few open world games I've been gutted to finish, I was never bored. While it's clear the game has some flaws they don't deserve to drag this title down. Most of them just become quirks that you come to deal with affectionately once you've spent some time in the game. Ignore the critics, Days gone deserves some love. Expand

I finally finished Days Gone. And just gotta say I have no idea what the reviewers were thinking. They got this one completely wrong. MyI finally finished Days Gone. And just gotta say I have no idea what the reviewers were thinking. They got this one completely wrong. My review:

Story: Very entertaining with some great twists. I liked most of the characters especially Deacon St John as he was kind of an anti hero but who had no choice to become a reluctant leader. The only negative I can say is the game was way too long which hurt the story as it began to drag. A lot of extra fluff missions that could have been cut out. *8.0*

Graphics: Great quality. This game really is beautiful with probably the best wind and weather effects I've ever seen in a game. Environments were amazing to explore and told a story by the destruction and dead bodies scattered around. *9.0*

Performance: Probably where this game suffers the most. I got a lot of frame rate dips, pop in, slow loading textures, and glitches. The glitches werent game breaking but broke immersion *7.0*

Sound: Guns sound realistic, voice acting is great, the music that plays when you come across a horde is perfectly exhilarating and gives an uneasy feeling. Weather sounds are immersive. Some negatives: there was some dialogue on top of each other with deacon talking to himself while listening to a recording. Also the way the characters speak they seemed to mumble, say "uh" and "um" a lot which made dialogue very realistic but was hard to understand and follow at times. *8.5*

Gameplay: Riding the bike felt very responsive. A bit of a learning curve in the beginning but when you do it is very fun to control and drift. The gas and repair system was a great addition as it really gave you the feeling of having to survive and use resources around the world. You can upgrade your gas can and durability of your bike and it makes a huge difference so there is incentive to upgrading. The biggest negative was the shooting. It felt very wonky and difficult to aim. Unlocking skills and slowing down time with your focus meter helped but it bad controls were there throughout the game. Melee however was satisfying and fun to craft weapons. Exploring the world to scavenge was addictive and rewarding. Random encounters and attacks from enemies were memorable and unpredictable as you can be taking down an enemy camp and then a horde of zombies will come and try to take u all out. Or a bear or wolves. The hordes are easily the best part of the game. They are so fun to take on and fun to redo to try different strategies and traps around the area. Humam enemy AI needs a lot of work as they can be downright dumb at times. As I said before there were a lot of fluff missions that should have been cut. There were literally some missions that were completed and you earned xp by just walking or watching a cutscene. *8.5*
