Nov 14, 2017It may be almost a decade old but de Blob remains one of the best 3D platformers out there. Whether you played the Wii original or not, this is definitely worth playing for anyone who considers themselves a fan of the genre.

Nov 19, 2017de Blob holds up surprisingly well to modern standards. It’s not without its problems: a dodgy camera, floaty jumping, and repetitive tasks rear their heads throughout the game. However, the simple concept of bounding through large environments splashing colour onto every surface remains original, fun, and satisfying – especially when accompanied by a great soundtrack that’s impacted by your play as much as the levels. Somehow, de Blob still feels contemporary, and it’ll cheer you up if this year’s other 3D platformer efforts have left you feeling blue.

Dec 7, 2017de Blob is a welcome remaster and will hopefully lead to those who avoided the Wii version enjoying a fun and vibrant platformer. The sequel was released as a multiplatform title, so it’s possible that some may be looking backwards to the series’ origins. The game itself still holds up in comparison to its sequel, though it doesn’t have the enjoyable 2D sections. If you’re after a splash of colour to illuminate the dark winter nights, de Blob is a good place to go.

Nov 17, 2017The years don't go in vain. de Blob was a game certainly revolutionary in 2008 for its mixture of physics and colour. Nowadays, it does not surprise and it ends up being repetitive.

Dec 4, 2017Hopefully, in the not too distant future, THQ Nordic will see fit to bring out a new de Blob game that takes the core idea of what makes de Blob an enjoyable time, and builds upon it by modernising the more archaic elements of the game.

Dec 4, 2017Anyone who was already a fan of de Blob will likely enjoy replaying it on the PS4. This is as straightforward as ports go, with no added features or graphical effects. Regretfully, the pre-rendered CGI cut-scenes have not been given the care they deserve, and the controls were not carefully considered when translating them to a DualShock 4. There should have been a bit more effort put into this instead of almost none. Some annoying control quirks aside, the core gameplay still manages to be addictive. The timeless style of the visuals and jazzy music gives this a charm that is rarely achieved. Hopefully, this will pave the way for the superior de Blob 2's PS4 conversion.
