Déraciné has a fantastic atmosphere and wonderful storytelling. It utilizes VR and PlayStation Move to create a type of interaction not seen in other games. The innocence characters show to the player add a warm and friendly feeling to what is already a fascinating adventure game.
Who or what the titular Déraciné may be is unclear, but don’t let that dissuade you from walking through this wonderful title. A charming cast of characters pair with an incredible environment to explore, while the stirring soundtrack helps to elevate an already good title. Throw in the great narrative, in and of itself a rarity in VR at this point, and you have one of the best titles available thus far for Sony’s headset.

Déraciné is definitely not for everyone but it still has that FromSoftware magic about it, albeit slightly less so this time around.
Déraciné is a slow build with little in the way of VR gimmicks or challenge but come its conclusion I was satisfied with how the tale played out.
Déraciné is a solid addition to PSVR's growing stable of exclusives. It's not a must-play game though, especially if you've been through any of the other VR adventure games out there.
While Déraciné is worth playing and figuring out for yourself, it’s hard to recommend with enthusiasm. While intriguing and mysterious, the storytelling does have fundamental issues that make the overall mystery feel unearned and the tension intangible.
Déraciné is one of the finest examples yet of someone setting out to create a VR game before actually finding out what's fun or interesting to do when you have a headset on your head and motion tracked controllers in your hands. Although comfortable to play and decent looking, the game is designed in a way that perfectly deprives the player of any agency, leaving it as little more than a point and click simulator where you watch a woefully scattered story about characters you have no reason to care about. If nothing else, Déraciné offers up several concrete examples of how not to design a VR game.
As a huge fan of Hidetaka Miyazaki, in my opinion one of the greatest revelations among game designers and directors in recent gaming, I bought a PSVR exclusively for playing Deraciné, knowing that despite the reviews I would find something to enjoy in this game. What I found, however, was one of my favorite interactive experiences, a simple but deeply personal story about the value of time. There is no problem with simple mechanics like those found in point and click or visual novel games, only a critical scenario that is obsessively blinded by its belief that there is a canonical evolution of game mechanics and graphics that sees games with minor focus on player skills as less valuable and hinders entire genres like JRPGs as obsolete. I am very gratified for trusting in Miyazaki to create distinct experiences instead of doing what others believe he is good at. Especially considering we are talking about a director that is known for creating some of the hardest action games that greatly impacted our industry. I am looking forward to being positively surprised once again in Sekiro.

Deracine is story narrative exploration adventure. Investigate house, found clues, search for secrets, solve puzzles. if you like What Remains of Edith Finch, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, then you might like this game as well.

This was a surprising excellent surprise! This game has always been on my radar but I didnt Get a VR til a couple years ago and finally got to playing it the other day and was pleasantly surprised! Found the story intriguing and got me hooked. The visuals were nice minus a few bugs here and there. Really enjoyed the characters and story telling which is strange coming from FromSoftware that typically only specializes in vague lore. really enjoyed the setting and traversal was good for a VR game, considering most VR games I’ve played it’s a pain to move around in. Going around the orphanage and solving the puzzles and mysteries was rewarding and addicting. A couple minuses I’d have to give it is story got a little confusing at times and there’s really not much gameplay. It’s more so of an interactive novel with some exploration to learn more. I hope to see a 2nd game or a remaster for PSVR 2!

I’m a big fan of From Software, but this slow paced VR walk around a house is just plain boring. The story is uninteresting and makes little sense, and while the atmosphere of the house is well done, the game does little with it. I struggled to spend the 4-5 hours to beat it, and when I did, it went immediately into the garage sale.
