The perfect follow up to a great original game, as well as a wonderful way to get the DBZ story without re-watching the entire anime. Every aspect of the first Xenoverse is taken and expanded upon to great effect. Character customization is deeper, the campaign is longer, parallel quests have more substance, and the world itself has more life.

It's a step in the right direction to become the Dragon Ball game we all want. It's a game we really enjoyed and it won't disappoint Dragon Ball fans.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 fixes many of the problems that the first title left unattended and once again gives the player the opportunity to fix the Dragon Ball history. The game has a great amount of content which means many hours of gameplay. Fan service and nice storytelling will keep you going until you reach the very end. However, countless localization problems, recycled elements and senseless side-missions hurt the overall experience.

A game chock-full of content that provides numerous hours of fun, surpassing the previous game in almost every way. Still, there is a long way until we get a proper, epic Dragon Ball game.

Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse 2 feels more like a big update to the first game than a true sequel, and if the fights are worthy, the MMO side of things feels like a last minute add-on as the empty Cloud City shows.

Weightless, repetitive combat makes progress through this strange fan-service story a slog. [Christmas 2016, p.72]

This game improves upon Dragon Ball Xenoverse in every aspect that the fans of the first game complained about. If you're a Dragon Ball fan,This game improves upon Dragon Ball Xenoverse in every aspect that the fans of the first game complained about. If you're a Dragon Ball fan, this game is the game to get. I've placed twenty hours into it already, and I still haven't even broke the half-way point to having half of the game done. It's content is amazing and is expansive. Expand

better outfits, locked transformation, more cool attacks, better fighting-those are all pluses. my only complaint is the stamina. i have 60better outfits, locked transformation, more cool attacks, better fighting-those are all pluses. my only complaint is the stamina. i have 60 points in my stamina-yet-it's more of a hindrance now. having a lot of stamina is great for fighting a stronger enemy.....til you run out and get used as a bunching bag. plus, there's stamina breack-which is a mere cheat.....personally, i think the bar should just be removed and let us have unlimited stamina......or at least a super soul that gives unlimited stamina. another issue is the level changes for enemies-it raises enemies that.....well shouldn't be raised! like the pg quest with jaco when you're fighting frieza's minions-i should not be getting knocked around by them. plus, a broken ranking system.......how the hell are we expected to get a z is we decide to go back and clear an earlier mission? it's completely absurd! First, the combat. The hit detection is way more precise, it's much easier to connect combos and special moves together. In order to stop "runners" from keeping their distance and spamming, they added the burst dash. You can easily punish them now. There is the stamina break, which is like a duel edge sword. You can quickly break the stamina of your opponent, but if you fail, you are left wide open. The camera angles are cool, but they often get in a position which you can't see properly. Every race also now has their own transformation and they are almost ALL Incredible. Super Saiyan goes up to SS3, and runs off how much ki you have when you transform. You can no longer get infinite special attacks, and the form acts more like a power boost. The Namekians get a giant form, which is very amazing that they pulled it off. (It just got more balanced btw). The Frost Demos (Or frieza clan) gets a golden form that provided a massive speed boost. The Earthlings get to ride The Flying Nimbus and use the Power Pole, which is both silly and fun. Then.... the Majins. The transformation sucks. You just turn into Kid Buu. Do not play as a Majin race till you get Kioken or Potential Unlocked.
The overall design is better in the hub world. Masters or instructors teach you new moves. In the last game, they spawned randomly and took forever to unlock anything. Now, you can breeze right through them. The side quest you can go on now has better RNG. You always get something at the end of the mission now, and the "Perfect Endings" to the quest are guaranteed, not random. However, a lot of these quest are pulled straight from the first game, copy and past. Very lazy. The clothes you can put on your costume character still have stats...BUT they can be turned off by using the QQ bang system. So you can wear whatever you want without worrying about stat points.
The story is the biggest issue. It feels that it lacks the creativity that the first game had. There are a few surprising moments, but a lot of these missions are copy and paste. It also felt very rushed. I was very excited for some movie characters that showed up. But, many of the cooler ones ended up being forced into the story, rather than taking part of their own individual missions. It is not the worst story in the world, but not as good as Xenoverse 1.
Overall, the game is solid, and fun. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 feels more like an expansion than a full-fledged squeal. Or maybe more like Xenoverse 1.5 It's not perfect, but is enjoyable. I would recommend Xenoverse 2 to mega fans of the first game (unless if you REALLY liked the broken mechanics because they gone.) If you want to get into the series, do NOT play the first game. Play this one only, maybe watch the story mode of the first game on YouTube. Also, get it when the price drops to about 40$.

This game hits a 7 for me and I wanted to give it an 8 but I couldn't bring myself to do so. I like the story and I love the character creatorThis game hits a 7 for me and I wanted to give it an 8 but I couldn't bring myself to do so. I like the story and I love the character creator it really makes me feel I am part of the Dragon Ball world. What really pulls the game down in score is the amount of repeating sub missions from the first Xenoverse. The Second installment does very little new in the series and does a lot of copy and pasting. Expand
