I’m very, very impressed with what KOEI Tecmo and Square Enix have managed to do with this sequel. I think it builds upon the first game in a really solid fashion, and does so while still feeling fresh and enjoyable to play. The A.I. can be really spotty, but overall that’s a fairly minor complaint for a game that honestly doesn’t have many issues to speak of. It runs well, looks and sounds great, and for Dragon Quest fans, you’ll be getting the appropriate amount of fan service here.

Feels too similar to the original Dragon Quest Heroes for PS4, but it is still a great combination of "musou" mechanics with RPG elements, and the great monster design from the series.

Fantastic sequel of one of the best musou games out there. The new innovations are welcome, especially the new cooperative multiplayer mode.

Dragon Quest Heroes II is exactly what a spin-off should be. It appreciates and honors what makes a Dragon Quest game distinct from other JRPGs, while still offering something different than the main series. The gameplay is exhilarating, using over-the-top animations and simple controls to keep you engaged in every battle. The amount of content, while no Dragon Quest VII, is certainly enough to get your money’s worth.

Dragon Quest Heroes II offers a lot of opportunities for the fans of the series. You'll find some welcome improvements here and there, the same things you loved in the first chapter, and the same limitations.

Dragon Quest Heroes 2 feels like a step forward in some ways, but a step back in others. The new additions to combat are nice, but the attempts to bring more RPG elements to the story missions don’t always work out for the best – at worst, they wind up transforming an enjoyable action game into a boring slog. At least it shows that Omega Force is willing to try new things with their long-established formula.

Dragon Quest Heroes II is a game that looks good in HD and runs smoothly at 60 fps, but shows that a great-looking and performing game cannot cover for a shallow adventure with repetitive sound, seemingly never-ending battles, and repetitive gameplay. There is a good game in Dragon Quest Heroes II. It is half as long, much more streamlined and features a raucous soundtrack befitting the big battles you experience. This bloated version merely deserves to get slimed.

ButTake the idea of turn based DQ8, put it in a modern format with action elements. Allow to fight against many enemies at the same time. But keep the idea behind everything, tell a story. Yuji Horii does it with DQH2. A perfect game, but maybe, too easy in the beginning. Fun, anyway. Expand

TheAs a fan of the Dragon Quest series, I really enjoyed this game and being able to play as some of the characters from the main series. The gameplay is very different as it is now more of a hack and slash RPG. For the most part, it can be a lot of fun trying out each character and their unique set of skills. Unfortunately, the boss battles are not very fun at all. I found that hey would drag on for too long, especially since most attacks from a boss will nearly kill you, which means you'll have to play it safe and wait for the right moment to attack. This also means you can't use most magic users since spells take too long to cast and only leave you open to attack (plus whichever character you control at the time will be targeted by the boss).

The highlights for me are the large scale battles with many enemies spawning from portals which you have to stop. You have to make use of various tools to keep your allies alive while also stopping the enemies.

    Dragon Quest Heroes 2
    Fun But Repetitive
A kind was murdered and you set out to travel the 7 kingdoms as your preferred character and class and set out to get to the bottom of it...
This is a party based action RPG, you start out with 2 characters and along your journey you’ll run into more characters to join you on your journey...
A lot of them you have to beat before they’ll join you though, which is a nice chance to see their stuff in action and choose if you’d like to swap them in as your party can only hold 4 characters at a time…
But each character feels unique and uses different weapons that can be bought in a little hub town
Which is where you’ll spend your time organizing your goods, crafting accessories for stat boosts, and playing through dungeons on line if you’d like
This is also where you swap your members and prepare for battle
The combat here is fairly swift.. But not as satisfying as it could be...
Sort of like the dynasty warriors games... there are enemies everywhere…
defeating these enemies will give you experience to level your character up...
Every character seems to level up at an even pace as well as inactive party members... and you dump your skill points into new moves and stat boosts in a skill tree
Combat here is very easy to pick up and super simple...
You’ll pull off cool moves by just mashing the light and heavy attack buttons
There are also special attacks you can use that use up magic points, and when you build up your super meter you basically go super saiyan and are invulnerable and have infinite magic points until it runs out
you can also alternate between your other party members at any time to use their special attacks too..
And eventually you’re even able to do tag moves as you swap
you also have healing gems and herbs for tough battles that replenish when you enter a new one…
Every once in a while characters will also drop coins when you beat them
These coins summons in that monster for some assistance
And each coin has its own unique action, some will even turn you into a giant monster for a short period of time
You can really only use them until you go to a new are though.. so there is no point in holding onto them even though the game advises you to…
That as well as your super meter depleting when you go to a new area is definitely a bit annoying and feels like a waste sometimes…
at moments id be holding on for an epic fight that never came and my time was just wasted slashing these a bit too spongy enemies…
And the game stays this way throughout…
The formula is fairly predictable with a few puzzly moments thrown in there to break the pace a bit..
But it’s a lot of get to the point on the map and level grind if you want…
its decently fun but definitely gets repetitive as again enemies do feel a bit spongy, causing the progression to feel a bit sluggish at time...
The story and characters are intriguing though and are good enough to pull the player through the end…
I did start getting bored on my journey in Dragon Quest Heroes 2..
But this action rpg is enjoyable one that I feel Dragon Quest Fans will appreciate... new fans can have a decently fun time with just game as well…
But the repetitive nature and spongy enemies may discourage you from finishing this 30 hour journey
I Give Dragon Quest Heroes 2
    a 7.5/10

    - Horrible, childish and irritating soundtrack. I had to put the volume in mute to be able to play this game.

-Bosses only attack the character you are using, ignoring the rest of the team. And your team is useless, they do practically no damage

    - Some missions are extremely annoying. You will have to defend some NPCs at times. If they die you will fail the whole mission and will have to return from the beginning. The game's artifical intelligence is extremely dumb and these NPCs keep jumping in the hordes of enemies, which makes it all the more annoying. You have no command to make him back off or something like.

    - The game has many characters, making most of them misused in the plot and uninteresting. Besides being useless. It would be much better if the game focused only on the two protagonists and some other character. At first the game was doing it right, focusing only on desdemona and the two main characters, but then the bunch of generic characters began to appear and I just did not care about anyone else there anymore.

    - The monsters are too childish, it looks like they were made for a cartoon for 5 year olds. Ridiculous.

    - Skill Tree useless and brings virtually no real change in your character.

Despite these cons, the game has its advantages, for example, the characters are well detailed and the graphics are well made. Combat is addictive and that's what motivates you to continue playing.

Glad i didn't bought this game.

Thankfully a friend of mine has a ps4 and let me play it this vacations... wow just wow...

It is terrible even compared to the first one, it has great new features but ultimately its defects make it overal worse than the first one.

-First of all the AI SUCKS, completely, they do NOTHING, it is like they made terrible AI on purpose so you need to rely on online players.

-Enemy AI is CHEAP, they will 100% focus the character you are playing, they will never focus anyone else, FORGET ABOUT MAKING A TANK unless you want to main it, it is just as terrible as FFXII with 0 aggro mechanics.

-Some bosses are ridiculously CHEAP on purpose to force you to go into multiplayer... THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SINGLE PLAYER GAME!, worth mentioning is the last boss of the game Fractos second form which is one of the cheapest bosses i have seen in my entire life. Most bosses have 2 shot abilities but some even have insane AoE like Fractos second form that you will ALWAYS get hit no matter what.

-Upgrading is annoying on purpose, it is even far more terrible than the first one crafting, just overall terrible and tedious grindy crafting and it is WORTHLESS, you barely see any difference in damage once you get better accessories.

-They got Sage WRONG, like what the hell?, Second classes are NOT supposed to be hybrids they are supposed to be UPGRADES of any of the paths that conform it and this is not the case if you are a Mage, where Sage is useless as a damage dealer it is a stupid DOWNGRADE, unbelievable... this guys seems like never played any DQ with a class system seriously.

-Pointless open world, just useless waste of space seriously nothing worth doing in the entire map you will just skip everything and if you want to level may aswell just go to any map but the "world map".

On top of that it has denuvo (which was cracked anyways).

Glad i didn't wasted my money on this game seriously it is not worth it not even 10% of what they are asking for it.
