Without a doubt the best MMA videogame ever made, EA Sports UFC 4 supplements a welcome array of new offline and online modes with a revamped and endlessly sophisticated combat system that everybody can enjoy. For MMA fans it doesn't get any better than this.

EA Sports UFC 4 shows that the quality of a sports game is far more important than the amount of quantity in it. UFC 4 improves and adds areas that needed work. It brings in new systems and tighter control designs to make the experience for more entertaining than previous years. This is the best of the best in the UFC series right now, and there is still good room to grow it.

Definitely an evolution rather than a revolution for EA, UFC 4 continues to deliver the slick, brutal and intelligent combat that we're used to but we're still not sure about its ground game and would like to have seen a bit more of a celebration of the sport.

EA Sports UFC 4 is the best entry on the sport to date. Smart tweaks to the grappling system make it feel more fluid and natural, and a revamped series of modes will keep you coming back for more.

UFC 4 is an incredible MMA game, but it needs more content. It’s a step forward gameplay-wise, but we feel like it also needs to evolve outside the ring.

EA Sports has scrapped Ultimate Team from UFC 3, made a few minimal (UI) updates and put a FIFA cover on it. Please, here you have UFC 4. It's that the ten-year-old fighting system still delivers some really brutal brawls, otherwise this would be a complete joke. If you already own UFC 3, I don't see any reason to buy this part.

But everything else is eitherThe small additions made to career mode are welcome, and striking feels slightly more fluid compared to UFC 3. But everything else is either the same (graphics) or worse (controls, ground game, created fighter customization). Controls for UFC 3 were intuitive. Each face button controlled a different limb. So you knew exactly what you were doing when you modified a strike based on the button press. Now, it's needlessly jumbled up. Modifying a punch now throws a kick, and vice versa. What possible reason could there be for this? It's nonsensical and unintuitive. The worst change comes with the popular Create A Fighter feature, which has been so dumbed down that it's not fun or rewarding on any level. You can no longer control stats, perks, OR moves for created fighters. Given that CAFs are the primary way most players spend their time in these games, this is a huge mistake. Not being able to customize your moveset is an absurd limitation. It results in every single CAF being essentially identical. They've replaced this meaningful customization system with a generic template system. They seem to think that the newly ridiculous and cartoonish appearance options (stupid hats, anime hair, various clothing items) will make up for this. It doesn't come close. What made UFC 3 enjoyable was the deep levels of customization, being able to create characters with unique move sets, stats, and perks. Now this feature is useless, and the game with it. I no longer have any reason to play it, and deeply regret my purchase. Expand

If you are the kind player who care more about Paul Felder's bread style than the balance in gameplay and want endlessly exploiting donkeyIf you are the kind player who care more about Paul Felder's bread style than the balance in gameplay and want endlessly exploiting donkey mechanics on senseless AIs, then go ahead, the game is made for you, so EA can sell more style token than making real video games to those have more money than brains.
For those who interested in fighting online, here's some quick fact check on how UFC 4 double down on UFC 3's legendary donkey designs.
    1. clinching deny doesn't exist, meaning opponent can relentlessly exploit it till you are out of stamina, or gaining pts,
    2. submission are so easy you just hold down L2 R2 and your will get the win guaranteed, even when you are short on stamina, if anything just do it again since there there's no punishment or proper counter.
    3. Take down defense nearly doesn't exist, there's only 1 take down defense command but nearly impossible to pull off, and the take down offense in comparison doesn't take 2 brain cell to execute.
    4. broken striking system, massive input delay still there, and 20% your strike won't register in the most critical moment.
So there you have it, another year, another failed low quality EA SPORTS product raid on UFC license. and still average 3.5/10 out of user reviews.
