  • Summary: Fimbul combines intense Viking battles with a deep story that unfolds through in-game comics to bring the frozen world of the Norse sagas to life. Immerse yourself in the blistering winter preceding Ragnarok — The Fimbul Winter.

    Quotation forthcoming.

I think I just really wanted Fimbul to prove it had more to offer. It’s not a must play, but it’s a game that, if presented to you as a player or spectator, is worth charging through.
  3. Feb 28, 2019
Fimbul offers a compelling narrative and a beautiful world, but it is hindered by poor controls and a loosely weighted multiple choice system.
  4. Feb 28, 2019
A nice looking adventure, Fimbul is ultimately a bit of a hollow and forgettable experience.

There's a great deal to like about Fimbul, from its luxuriant vector inspired visuals to the solid combat and an interesting interpretation of Norse Mythology. Whilst the delivery of the plot in a comic book format disappoints, it is the failure of the frame rate that provides Fimbul's fatal and final blow. Without this issue being remedied, despite the many reasons I like the game, Fimbul is difficult to recommend.
  6. Feb 27, 2019
Fimbull is a video game that is slow, not very stimulating and not lacking enough technical and design failures along the way.

Though the setting is evocative, the poor combat, raft of bugs and meagre duration all conspire to ensure that Fimbul fumbles its setting and results in disappointingly poor roaming brawler.

Fimbul has a great story told through comic-book style cut-scenes. The story is set in Norse mythology in the final winter before Ragnarok:Fimbul has a great story told through comic-book style cut-scenes. The story is set in Norse mythology in the final winter before Ragnarok: Fimbul. We follow Kveluldver on his trip to Jötunheim.

The hack and slash type combat is interesting and challenging, but unfortunately it is made difficult by frequent frame-rate drops especially in the second and third act. The ground bash attack should be patched so it does not cause framerate drops, this will make the Jöton fights much more enjoyable. Honestly this should have been caught during regular QA and fixed in a launch-day patch.

Still I think the game is worth the price if you like the art-style and am interested in the theme.
