Gravity Rush 2

It’s extremely fun, engaging and even challenging. Due to its production and artistic value, it’s definitely one of those titles that you’ll want to show your friends when you need to demonstrate why you’re proud to be a gamer. They’re bound to be impressed.

As I wrap up this review, I find myself in a similar position as I was one year ago when I reviewed GR Remastered — having a ton of fun and finding very little to complain about. That’s not to say GR2 is perfect, or that any game can be, but any gripes I have would be minor and far overshadowed by the game’s resounding positives. It’s fair to say it’s 2017’s first must-have game.

Oh, and it's still gorgeous, more so given that this was built from the ground up for the PS4. There's some pop-in but I've always been bigger on draw distances, especially with a game that puts such an emphasis on traversal like Gravity Rush 2 -- I love being able to see where I'm headed while boosting into the sky.

Gravity Rush 2 offers us a big evolution to the series. The game is full of personality, full of relevant things to do, full of cotidian stories to tell, it has improvements to the variety of its gameplay and it has a beautiful presentation with colorful art and an exquisite soundtrack. All who played the first game should give this sequel a try.

Wonderfully painted explanation of how sequels are made. Not a single piece falls out of great foundations made by the first game, yet fills up the experience with so much more. A treat for every single fan.

Gravity Rush is solid fun on the PS4 with a really fun protagonist, enjoyable gaming mechanics and a way to become involved in interactive anime... just be wary, the controls can be annoying at times.

Gravity Rush 2 is not a perfect game, but it undoubtedly expands upon its predecessor in nearly every conceivable way. There are some wonky camera moments along with a few narrative stumbles and problematic quest designs, but the flaws are quickly overshadowed by the triumphs, and just like its endearing protagonist, it lands firmly on its feet in the end.

Although bigger doesn’t always mean better, Gravity Rush 2 is both in every possible way.

Sloppy combat inherited from its handheld predecessor thankfully fails to smother Gravity Rush 2's gleefully avant-guarde design and its enigmatic leading lady. Kat and Dusty's sophomore outing sees the series' potential explode in vibrant, joyous fashion. The rough edges are still there, but you'll have to squint to see them as PlayStation's refreshingly eccentric franchise soars to spectacular new heights.

Gravity Rush 2 is a big surprise. It's not just a repeat of the previous entry, but a richer, more interesting and colorful world that you just want to visit again and again. Fascinating adventures of Kat and her friends are definitely worth your while.

Gravity Rush 2 is a fantastic follow-up, that improves nearly everything.

Gravity Rush 2 is a gorgeous game with stunning visuals accompanied by a stellar soundtrack that features tunes both old and new. Although there are some rough edges, it’s an emotional ride from start to finish and one amazing action adventure game. It’s a worthy successor, and an outstanding return to this enchanting world.

Gravity Rush 2 feels as great to play as it looks. It’s a true fulfillment of a premise with tremendous potential that was previously hindered due to hardware limitations. It’s a massive improvement in every possible aspect from the original and makes a strong statement as my very first pick for a game of the year contender of 2017.

While the original Gravity Rush pushed the Vita to its limited, Gravity Rush 2 is unleashed upon the far more powerful PlayStation 4, giving us a game that’s as big in scope and substance as the concept designs its world and characters were born from. Among Sony’s efforts to give their console a wide array of more niche experiences, this gravity-controlling Kat is Queen.

Gravity Rush 2 it’s a fine sequel to the first title. In some points it’s similar, like its gameplay and combat system, but in others it is quite improved, especially in its graphics and map amplitude or online features.

It’s a much bigger game than the original, giving you plenty of land to explore and tons of missions to beat. It feels so much different from your typical big-budget console game these days. It’s more of a comic book than an action movie, allowing players to delight in their own heroics. It’s one of the PlayStation 4’s most stunning and entertaining exclusives.

Gravity Rush 2 is a real treat for the eyes, ears, and reflexes. Its cinematic looks and score are wonderful, and its storyline is enthralling and thoroughly compelling. All combine brilliantly with the addictive and entertaining mission-based action to create a terrific game that's an absolute joy to play.

Gravity Rush 2 is everything I wanted out of a sequel. It’s bigger, better, it’s drop-dead gorgeous and it never stagnates.

While its stealth missions are lame and it's disappointing to experience camera issues from time to time, Gravity Rush 2 excels in almost every other respect, making its predecessor seem quaint by comparison. This is easily one of the best video game sequels in recent memory, and an adventure truly worthy of its excellent lead character.

Gravity Rush 2 deserves to be one of Sony’s biggest games of the year. Even if you weren’t able to get into the first, give this one a go. The story’s self-contained enough that you’ll still be able to follow along, and in the effort to make the game more accessible to a wider audience, the overall experience is also more refined and there’s clearly a meatier budget backing it.

Bigger, better and on all levels a more complete experience than the first game. We welcome Kat's new moves, which change the gameplay dynamics for the better.

The first great game of 2017. It takes what made the original a cult classic and builds upon that foundation in meaningful ways across all areas of the experience. Few games will make your heart race and palms sweat with excitement from moment-to-moment like Kat’s physics-defying journey through the skies.

If you love the open world action genre, the new year started great: Gravity Rush 2 improves upon the original title in every single, possible way, offering a deep, challenging and addictive gameplay. Warning: considering the peculiar nature of this game, the vote must be read upside down.

Gravity Rush was one of the best games of the PS Vita, Gravity Rush 2 makes a great start on PS4. In spite of a very common story and a poor camera, this second entry manages to be deeper, with a lot of new possibilities in the fights, and more gorgeous, thanks to the extra power of the console.

A unique game in a vibrant world that is able to build on what was already successful in the first installment. It had been developed further in many aspects that present an unforgettable experience regardless of some noticeable camera issues and a few other weak missions.

Playing around with gravity never felt so good. Kat has an amazing playground that is even better than the original.

Gravity Rush 2 is THE sequel we've been waiting for. It really lives up to the hype and gives an immersive gameplay. Its gorgeous design makes it even more magical and pulls the player inside.

It’s great playing with gravity, especially in such a stylistically designed world, and there’s so much more to do this time around.

For all my little grievances, this game is still incredibly fun to play.

Gravity Rush is the celebration of a surreal and original fantasy, constantly balancing drama and irony. A perfect sequel, born from the magic imagination of Keiichiro Toyama.

Kat’s new adventures will leave you out of breath thanks to its intensity, its beautiful graphic design and the fact that with every new installment, Gravity Rush gets better.

After a couple of story hiccups, Gravity Rush 2 righted itself and pulled me in with the personality of its world and wide variety of activities. The new gravity powers and styles make combat exciting, and well-written side quests and character relationships grant better insight into Kat’s universe. After 40 hours I found it hard to put the controller down, and I can’t wait to jump back in to finish every sidequest I can find.

Gravity Rush 2 is an excellent game with a well-told story and interesting characters. There are a ton of things to do with 27 main missions and more than 40 side quests that are imaginative and well thought. This game surpasses its predecessor by far with a very large world made up of floating islands that is way bigger and more beautiful than you might think. Gameplay is satisfying but not without its flaws. There is no lock-on system so sometimes you end up disorientated mid fight and you’ll mainly use one attack for most of the battles. In spite of this flaws the game is engaging and a lot of fun. You can almost feel the care and attention the developers put into it.

With heaps of charm and innovation, you’ll be hard-pressed to resist the pull of Gravity Rush 2.

Gravity Rush 2 is a great sandbox game whose artistic design, gravity controls and deep combat system overcome some camera issues.

As long as the Queen of Gravity uses all her abilities to fight the Nevi this is an action spectacle. But not every mission takes advantage of the freedom of movement while camera and controls could be tighter.

Gravity Rush 2 feels like a true sequel to the original game. Kat feels and looks amazing, the world she lives in is astounding and the OST and sound design really give this game an anime movie look. The game looks like it would've benefited from a higher frame rate, and the stealth missions do feel dull, but overall it's a good game and a great addition to your PS4 library.

Spectacular sequel of a unique action-adventure is a must-buy not only for all fans. Japanese style may not be for everybody, neither the controls. Patient players will be rewarded by breathtaking gravitational experiences in a fantastic environment anyhow.

Gravity Rush 2 is an excellent sequel to the first game. It's easier to control, has an incredible depth of quantity and while it doesn't all hit, the vast majority does. It has a few strange choices in story design, particularly a false ending in one of the worst places I've ever encountered. All things considered, it's an excellent game with some of the most entertaining gameplay around, set in a fantastically designed world with a great visual design.

Gravity Rush 2 offers an improvement upon the gameplay of the original game, but still suffers from some of the same problems the original had. While it is a visually stunning experience, the controls and camera tend to get in the way of all the fun.

Kat is never more fun than when she’s hurtling horizontally across the sky for no reason other than to feel the wind against her face. At its best, Gravity Rush 2 recreates the sense of reckless abandon that came when riding a bike as a child, the feeling of limitless potential combined with the intoxicating thrill of knowing that the tarmac could come up to meet you at any moment.

Taking on the role of Kat is rush of an experience, and there’s so much here to absorb that you’ll need a couple dozen hours to get through it all. Whether or not you played the original Gravity Rush or are looking for a unique game to add to your PlayStation 4 library, Gravity Rush 2 is certainly a breath of fresh air.

There are a number of standout missions in Gravity Rush 2 that will have players scrambling every which way until it is hard to tell down from up.

The game is hampered by poor camera controls and some hiccups in the story, but overall, the experience is one that I thoroughly enjoyed and will be playing again.

A fantastic sequel to an already very good and interesting Vita game. Due to its unique gravity based mechanics, there are still some teething issues but the game remains eminently playable and fun with it.

The original was a strong game, but PlayStation 4 takes things to the next level by giving us more variation. The surroundings are huge and full of personality, there are plenty missions and Kats movement has gotten way better. Too bad the controls are still frustrating.

Gravity Rush 2 is a great sandbox. It's a game set in a unique universe with a very cool girl hero. This world contains tons of fun side-quests that often distract you from the main storyline. GR2 is a true gem among all there boring open worlds made from a template. It deserves your attention.

It's bigger and more complex than the original game, but it also has the same weaknesses. If you liked the first game, you'll like this one, and if you just want a very Japanese adventure, you'll be satisfied with Gravity Rush 2.

Gravity Rush 2 takes the strange, quirky style and gameplay of the original and lets it loose on a larger canvas, dishing up its gravity-twisting action with real imagination and verve. It has the original’s charm and personality but more ambition, with a bigger setting, bigger set-pieces and a storyline to match. If Gravity Rush gave us a great heroine, some interesting mechanics and a different take on the action adventure, the sequel puts then centre-stage in a tale that does them justice.

Gravity Rush 2‘s post-launch support and top notch visual presentation combined with its engaging combat and engrossing story ensure fans of the original or Gravity Rush Remastered will find plenty to love about the sequel. It’s held back by poorly designed stealth missions that serve little purpose other than keeping players away from the better parts of the game and a wonky camera that can be downright disorienting at times, but otherwise Gravity Rush 2 is bigger and better than the first game.

Gravity Rush 2 is basically what Gravity Rush should have been from the start. It's larger, longer and more focused both gameplay and storywise... and unfortunately shares with its prequel the very same annoying issues, namely a fickly camera and some bloated quests. If this was a send-off, Japan Studio actually delivered with style.

Just as charming as the original, but the improved combat and clever new gravity abilities make for a notably better game.

Despite its open-world growing pains, Gravity Rush 2 is a charming game that's well worth playing, both for its story and its quality action moments. I just feel that it would have been a stronger overall title if it were more streamlined and leaned more on its best qualities rather than shoehorning in activities that don't match with its action-packed, gravity-shifting theme.

The world’s beautiful, the cast is great, and Kat’s unique powers make it feel unlike anything else on the market. If the mission structure was anywhere near as inventive and enjoyable as the rest of the package, it would be an essential (and mindblowing) experience. As it stands, it’s just a damn good time interspersed with a scattering of tedium throughout.

If you enjoyed the first chapter and you declared your love to Kat in evening dress, in this sequel you will find a bigger version and full of what you have liked five years ago. If already at the time you have had difficulty with the controls, and you do not like jazz, you can lay your eyes away.

Unfortunately, Gravity Rush 2 doesn't compare to the original. It's opening hours are way too slow and the story lacks substance, failing to hold our interest throughout its runtime. The game's still a lot of fun and the open world is dripping with atmosphere, yet it lacks the magic that made the first game so memorable.

Gravity Rush 2 may be an overall good handheld game, but not as good in her bigger sister. Entertaining, but several mistakes (some of them can be solved, though) that burden the experience. The plot is quite predictable, but its completely unique gameplay mechanics rescue a game that needs some extra polish from its developers.

Gravity Rush 2 lacks quite a bit in the story department, even with the side missions, but the improved combat and series-unique exploration make it difficult to put the game down.

Despite all these negative qualities, you can get back to basics with select side-missions, ghost challenges and unfettered exploration.

A bigger, more varied sequel that still doesn’t feel like it takes the leap it could have. The gravity-shifting gimmick is still a big draw, as is the delightful art style, protagonist Kat, and the clever world design, but the there’s a nagging feeling it could have been even better. It’s still a very good game though, and it certainly offers up something a little different in terms of a console exclusive.

Gravity Rush 2 is a bigger sequel, but not necessarily a better one. While it offers more to play with and in greater variety, the lack of improvements to core features – as well as graphics that are far from impressive – hold it back from being something truly great.

Coming in fresh, I found Gravity Rush 2 so bright and original that I'm still playing it, even after the end credits. Gravity Rush 2 has its stumbles — the camera often feels at complete odds with what the game requires of you, a real problem in a game that so aggressively eschews standards physics. But even with so many directions to fall head over heels in, it lands on its feet — just like Kat.

Even with all the new abilities and mission types, too much of Gravity Rush 2 is dedicated to tasks that don't make the best use of your ability to control gravity. Falling around the various locales is a lot of fun, but that doesn’t assuage the nagging feeling that with better missions and less frustrating side content, this series could go from a fleeting joy to something truly great.

Despite a majority of the original’s flaws carrying over, Gravity Rush 2 is nevertheless a good game with a winning narrative and a beautiful art direction.

There’s no arguing it’s an incredibly beautiful “flying game” in an unusual world; you can fly around for hours just enjoying the sights. Enjoyable enough if you liked the first game, but niggling issues stop this sequel from surpassing the original.

Gravity Rush 2 is a tonne of fun to play, and falling through the air upside down is an image that is unique and memorable. However poor camera controls and bad stealth sections really spoil the fun.

Storywise Gravity Rush 2 tries to do too much. It tells three completely separate stories, one of which is totally unnecessary and another that stretches on for far too long. That said, the iterations in gameplay mechanics are a welcome addition, and the colorful new environments are a sheer joy to explore, especially with the new photo mode that lets you share discoveries with other players.

Though not as almighty a step up as some of the more recent sequels we’ve seen, Gravity Rush 2 remains a fun and intriguing place to return to.

Even though the core of Gravity Rush 2 remains largely unchanged, you'll be hard pushed to find a fresher open world title in a sea of Grand Theft Auto and Assassin's Creed clones.

Kat, at least, wants to make everyone happy, no matter their social status, their motives or lack of manners. That's a noble goal, but an impossible one - and one the game that surrounds her, with its bland combat, its stodgy missions, and its wayward camera, fails to provide to the player. I can’t help but admire what the studio has attempted here: a glorious, galloping adventure worthy of applause for all it attempts, even when some of those things don’t work as intended. It’s more satisfying stumbling through a game as gonzo and idiosyncratically brilliant as a Gravity Rush 2 than pronouncing another polished but unadventurous standard-bearer playable. And it’s laudable to the extent studios deserve tribute for attempting difficult, different things, mixed results or no.

When Gravity Rush 2 sticks to its strengths, it soars; it’s a shame that its stale mission design and clumsy controls keep it from getting too high off the ground.
