Heavy Rain is very much the kind of game I like to play; it’s smart, interesting, different and highly focused. Cage might be a one-of-a-kind game director and thinker, and I do wish more developers paid attention to how he approaches his storytelling.

Six years after its original release on PlayStation 3, Heavy Rain is still a game that every narrative-driven videogames fan should play.

If you like this kind of adventures, Heavy Rain is one of the best. There's no evolution if you've played it before, but it's probably aimed at those who didn't own at PS3.

A few years later, Heavy Rain has aged well in some aspects, and worst in others, but it's still one of the best cinematic experiences you can live on a home console.

Heavy Rain is an absolute classic of its unique genre of videogames. The story of the origami killer can still charm with its blend of mystery and noir ingredients and the remastered graphics are a plus to enjoy it. Unfortunately, the gameplay mechanics feel a little old, but this alone doesn't really kill the experience as a whole.

Although its clunky controls and inconsistent voice acting dates Heavy Rain, it still remains enjoyable (if mad) B-grade sholock. A stunning visual upgrade on the PlayStation 4 makes this the version to grab if you’re new to developer Quantic Dream’s games, and existing fans should find enjoyment in a richer aesthetic this time around.

This remains a ground-breaking game, and it's still possible to appreciate the areas where it innovated, but time has not been kind to the title's damp performances and dismal writing.

At the time of release on PS3 it was incredible. The game has aged since then but it's one of those genre setter that breaks away from typical mold.

You play as 4 characters trying to arrest the Origami Killer, a murderer who drowns children in rainwater and leaves origami figures in their hands. The graphics on the PS4 are noticeably different from the graphics in the PS3 version, but I am disappointed that Quantic Dream didn't improve the AI in this version. Overall, you should definitely pick up this game if you never experienced it on PS3, but people who've already played the PS3 version should think twice. Expand

It could be up there with other masterpieces like Dark Souls III or Fallout 4 easily. It's a game of a kind. And with the low price it has now, it's a really good moment to grab it digitally. The voice acting could be a bit better though, that's why it doesn't get more than an 8 from me. The other point is the game is short. This needs a sequel. Expand

It knows exactly how to keep playersI'm gonna go ahead and give Heavy Rain a thumbs up, and say that this is worth your money and time. It knows exactly how to keep players hooked when it comes to the immersion the story. It's got great voice acting, beautiful graphics in HD, almost a dozen endings, if not, more (I haven't fully counted them all to say for sure). The element of mystery is through the roof, and it's this that will keep players coming back for more! Nothing short of amazing! This is how you do a story-based game! Not that Beyond Two Souls garbage.

Heavy Rain does come with it's flaws however. First off, the game is loaded with Quick Time Events, a mechanic that is frowned upon in a "true" video game today. QTEs are infamous for being the easy way out., when they can't be bothered to make actual gameplay. So instead, they make a scene where you just press a button to win. Heavy Rain takes this one step further however by utilizing the motion controls, which are frustrating as hell! Half the time, it doesn't work, I spent 5 whole minutes on one QTE alone just trying to turn my controller sideways. There's also a few flaws in some of it's story direction in terms of the decisions you make.

Despite these issues; the average player will still have a blast with this game. Go ahead and purchase it, this will be money well spent.
