Ironcast is a surprisingly strategic and complex game which will hold your interest for quite a while. There's enough randomisation for the title to feel fresh for a long time, and every battle is one of tension and risky moves, with each action really meaning something.

A steep difficulty and solid strategy-first combat system take some getting used to, but intuitive controls and a smooth gameplay experience make it easy to get the hang of on a rudimentary level.

This game will show you the kind of player you are, by making you delve in to strategy, showing you whether you are an defensive or offensive player. A good game by Dreadbit, and one I would not be surprised to see more of in the future.

Dreadbit should have excluded any roguelite features to make for a more compelling and engaging experience.

Ironcast has a fascinatingly complex base game, filled with myriad details to keep track of and a brilliant sense of strategy. Unfortunately, while serious tacticians will find themselves enjoying the nightmarish difficulty, anyone looking for a lighter challenge will be left in the dust, as permadeath and a merciless RNG slow progress to an unsatisfying crawl.

I initially thought this would not be for me, but it has become the first rogue like game I have enjoyed ever! Proof of this is I keep finding myself sneaking on the console whenever I can to continue.

What impresses me more than anything is how this has put a stop to my playing more established and expensive games like GTA 5, Destiny and FarCry Primal. If you are you looking for something different I would say play this great independent title.

Love the steam-punk Victorian style, and the fact that its a rogue-like adds to the flavor a bit and makes it different from others in its genre. The progression system is rewarding enough, but could use a little more meat. I felt like I unlocked all characters/mec's pretty quickly, and there really weren't many variants on powers.

Despite the simplistic design I sunk an easy 8-10 hours into this title in the first couple of days after buying it - its got that addictive charm with no petty micro-trans crap to go with it. The story, characters and most of the graphical effects (while serving their purpose) are uninspiring. There is an added level of strategy here though due to the gameplay style and the ability to target enemy systems individually when launching attacks, and that makes it fun enough to rinse and repeat time and again.

Overall its worth the $15 asking price, but if you happen to notice it go on sale (I snagged it for $3 this Xmas), don't pass it up. Especially if you're a puzzle/strategy fan. 8/10
