Although far from being revolutionary, Kena Bridge of Sprits is a compelling action-adventure game with an heart-warming hero and really cute creatures to play with. Ember Lab put in this game all their experience in character design and animation, giving us a splendid – but also somewhat repetitive – cartoon movie to play with.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits grounds itself on relaxation, healing, and cuteness, getting us to reflect and meditate on the beauty in the world when there is darkness abound.
  3. Kena isn’t especially inventive, but the game is an entertaining hodgepodge of tried-and-true ideas.

As its first major release, Kena: Bridge of Spirits must be considered a success for Ember Lab. There are areas where significant improvement can be made, especially its combat, but the game provides a strong base to build upon. The overall gameplay will be very familiar to 3D adventure fans, but the visuals and charm help to make it feel like a fresh experience in the genre. More adventures for Kena and the Rot would be very welcome.

In the medley of action-adventure games, Kena: Bridge of Spirits stands out with its soundtrack, unbeatable graphics, and creative storyline. It’s a fantastic first impression of Ember Lab’s game-developing skills. A few kinks need fixing, but that shouldn’t deter you from playing the game!

Fluid gameplay, fast pace combat, incredible soundtrack and boss fights that are really challegning even on defaut difficulty. But it's only a matter of learning the buttons and solving the puzzles each boss is, like it is in shadow of the colossus. I really don't understand the 0's here. People are just mean and lazy to lear a how to play a real old fashion game. Congrats to Ember lab, first game is already a must play. Expand

A gorgeous game (on PS4 pro) with frustrating mechanics, invisible walls, twitch response events and the occasional glitches.

    Progression
A gorgeous game (on PS4 pro) with frustrating mechanics, invisible walls, twitch response events and the occasional glitches.

Progression requires practice, willingness to parkour and puzzle solve without much in the way of hints, and boss battle willing to lose until you learn individual battle mechanics and damage avoidance.

If I could evaluate this game only on the sights and sounds, it would be a 9 or 10. Even on my lowly, non-pro PS4, this game looked amazing and I enjoyed exploring it. The gameplay was good, although I was very surprised at times by the combat challenge (I am no action RPG maven, mind you, but I have played a fair number of them). So, this is just my experience, but after a number of slugfest slogs, I found it much better for me to set things to easy mode, and enjoy the platforming and puzzles and work through the combat when necessary. I don't recall a great amount of items and upgrades being worth much (perhaps as a result of my easy mode choice?), but I really enjoyed my time wandering around in the game's world. I would love the studio who did this to make a sequel or a different game with a similarly impressive world to explore. Expand

Horrid game mechanics and slow fighting style do not suit the speed of the game. Would have rated worse if possible.
