This may say dlc, but it works more so as it's own expansion. roughly 8 hours to beat, about 12 to complete. The DLC boosts more interesting missions for spidey to do as well as a brand new cast of characters to go along with it. It also takes place after the main game, and while I don't think the main game is difficult, the DLC can be. Perhaps it's rust or the set of enemies they throw at you, but you'll be using all your spidey skill to disbatch the enemies quickly. The Screwball missions are probably the newest part to the gameplay featuring a photo bomb mechanic and new ways to play through mission types; thankfully you do not have to get a gold ranking on them, so with minor pratice they are easy to complete and get the trophy for it. Black Cat and Silver Sable are simply amazing in this game and really make the DLC worth the time for when they show up, but Hammerhead still leaves a lot to be desired as a villian. If you are itching for some Spider man after the PS5 trailer, this is not only a good led in to it, but a good amount of content as well.
--Plataforma: PS4
If you enjoyed the base game and want more of what you got, get it. The problem is, after 100% the base game, I jumped right into the dlc. The story in part 1 and 3 I enjoyed. Part 2 was clearly a setup dlc for the finale. There was some plot holes not filled through the story that really stand out.
There’s more crime fighting. (About 20 per episode) so around 60 in total. Which really didn’t need to be in there. Especially if you cleared out the base game. It was just unnecessary filler, which got old very quickly. Same with the challenge missions (taskmaster with a twist) and the base missions (Hideouts). All filler, and repetitive. As you did it all during the base game, by the end of the base game i was sick of it. So getting it again in the dlc was disappointing. There are two side missions that really stood out. And if you play the game they will for you as well. One in episode 1 and the other in episode 3. Overall, story wise, I would give a 7. episode 2 was pretty boring, but 1 I really liked, and three was about the middle of the pack. The end boss Was tough, but also disappointing in my opinion. Gameplay wise a 3. Swinging around as spider man is awesome as always. But I can do that in the base game without spending to get more. Overall I’m disappointed. Expansions should feel different from the base game to keep it fresh. This dlc did not do that whatsoever.
The City That Never Sleeps contains a DLC package with three stories: The Heist, Turf Wars and Silver Lining. These DLCs will keep you busy a bit more in the Spider-man world but they will not bring anything new. It is still the same gameplay and the same missions with reskinned enemies (and there is nothing wrong or bad with that). You will meet some new characters in stories that are cheesy as the main story. It is worth playing if you are really into Spider-man and superheroes.
I would rate the base game 8/10, but this dlc collection a 3/10.
If you finished the base game with all the skill and widgets upgrades, then there is nothing new to the combat system in this dlc. There are a lot of combats in the story which I found unnecessarily long and gets old quick (and also more side missions like clearing enemy hideout similar to the base game, but just a different type of enemy). So gameplay-wise, there is absolutely nothing new comparing to the base game. I also find the story pretty boring and doesn't make much sense.
