"The original game has been reworked visually and mechanically to be far more playable in 2021, even though it’s still less than ideal when it comes to combat, especially moving onto the sequels. The second and third Mass Effects don’t receive as major an enhancement to their quality of life, but what they do receive is visual clarity. The game runs magnificently on current and last-generation consoles, not to mention load times are insignificant now and the graphical touches that have been instituted only help to enhance the experience. There’s nothing quite like Mass Effect out there, and having upwards of 300 hours worth of content readily available is an immense value that goes unmatched. It may have taken longer than we had expected to come out, but we finally got a remaster that’s does the franchise proud." ... Read full review

As it is, it's a great deal. Most Mass Effect fans, (myself included) never purchased the dlc. Buying all of the DLC from the original games, together, would be the same, if not more money, completely disregarding the 4K, enhanced visuals, better framerates, and a better graphical quality all-around.

The main selling point of the franchise is the many improvements made to the outdated Mass Effect 1. Now, are these changes drastic? Yes. Is the combat better than 2 and 3? Hell no.

Adding on the absurd amount of achievements that can be reached, (for large pools of points) this collection is amazing for returning fans, and new ones alike.

Even if you've recently played the games, it's still worth the $50-$60USD for the many improvements.

This is how a remaster should be made, and other companies ought to be ashamed for full priced remasters months after the game's release. You know who I'm talking about.… Expand

To be fair they used the “Extended Cut” which is an improvement (but no fix). Mass Effect was the (good) Star Wars for video games. It created a universe full of interesting characters, stories, history, conflicts, alien species, politics, technology, ideologies and cultures. The lore was so good that I had many good discussions with friends and read many articles in the Mass Effect Wiki. You have also a codex in each game where you can look up things for more details. Then they had a unique idea for the Mass Effect games. You can import your decisions into the next games. This was as interesting as impactful. Many of us had again so good discussions and arguments what the best course of action was or which outcome the decisions will have. There were a lot of mayor and some minor decisions that gave you different results in the follow up games. Then came the conclusion for the trilogy that shatter everything. I mentioned in my reviews for the individual games that I wanted to replay all of them to get my favourite (and satisfying) outcomes. Now this is not enjoyable. Again to be fair the journey was beautiful and well worth my time while the end undoes nearly everything. Technical they overhauled the games and it hits more than it misses. I shorten it with you get what you expect. Overall I still feel a strong disappointment for the ending as this could be the best trilogy in gaming. I give a 5/10 and say that I loved the games.… Expand
