One of the best fighting games we’ve seen in years.

Mortal Kombat 11 arrives to become the new spearhead of the franchise. The new playable mechanics, the immense amount of content and the updated graphics are its primary virtues.

Mortal Kombat 11 offers the same gory, over-the-top violence that we've come to love from the series. The story is interesting, meshing past and present together in a fun way. Several modes offer replayability, but the grinding resources for the Krypt may get tedious.

Mortal Kombat 11 is a first-class fighting game experience, featuring rock-solid core mechanics, impressive production values, and a story that wouldn’t be out of place alongside the summer’s biggest blockbusters. Of course, the game also suffers from some of the drawbacks of big-budget game development, including grindy customization and tacked-on microtransactions, but that stuff is largely superfluous. Beneath the triple-A fat, Mortal Kombat’s bloody heart still beats as strong as ever.

As it stands, Mortal Kombat 11 is violent and extremely brutal but at the same time insidiously sexy and suave. Its more grown-up take on matters enhances its cast’s appeal and that’s all the personal preference I need to keep up with often unfair gameplay.

All in all, Mortal Kombat 11 is a solid addition to the franchise. It has arguably the weakest story mode in the new MK trilogy, but even that mode has one of the better fighting game story modes on the market. The gameplay is solid, satisfying and fun, with a lot of potential depth. There's a lot of good single-player content for those who like beating up various characters, in addition to the online multiplayer that is genre-standard. Mortal Kombat 11 is everything that a Mortal Kombat game should be, and it's something fans should enjoy.

Like the grisly cutscenes, Mortal Kombat 11 is fun as long as you don't think too hard or look too closely at it - but that's exactly where the real joy is found in a fighting game. If Mortal Kombat wants to elevate itself, it's time to start overhauling the skeleton underneath all that flesh. [Issue#333, p.110]

the game also seems to be pushing an extremist left wing agenda with how they have went about handling the female fighters where all of them are covered from head to toe and are beaten bloody as if they are from oversea's while the men are all half naked and bare chested. the game also is online only meaing any type of progression you make is tied to you beaing linked to the internet when past MK games of old had no such feature and then there are the pointless greedy MTX's too boot on top of all of the other issues.

now the story while an improvement over MK10 pretty much ends up rebooting everything again so it's hard to be invested in anything that is going on here. there are some funny moments but overall the story is serviceable not bad or great just fine

    while i don't think this game is a 2.0 or a 3.0 it's no where near an 8 or 9.0 so i''m giving MK11 a 6.5

No creative skins designs (just color variations) and always internet required to be played.
    NRS just killed the saga.

No legacy costumes. Unlocking things is an insane grind. Injustice 2 was much more generous with it's unlocks. It might have been RNG but atNo legacy costumes. Unlocking things is an insane grind. Injustice 2 was much more generous with it's unlocks. It might have been RNG but at least you were constantly rewarded. MK11 feels like it's going down the Ubisoft / EA path to the dark side... and the political fight dialogue doesn't enhance the experience at all. It just feels tacked on. Totally takes me out of the world of MK. Not worth a buy. Expand
