EA knows not to mess with the classic formula, so the largely visual upgrades work, creating a satisfying game. Truth is, racing games haven’t changed that much in the last decade; it’s about speed, and letting you feel that speed. Sure, you’re missing the “rewind” feature of current racing games, and it might have been nice to get that added in here.

Despite some slight disappointment from thinking about what else this remaster might have offered, the giant grin on my face while playing was impossible to remove. Being able to play on consoles at 60FPS makes it a monumental upgrade over the older versions, and the core experience has aged surprisingly well. Despite the fact that this is a fairly modest remaster package, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit remains one of the finest arcade racers in recent memory, and anyone with even a slight interest in the genre should jump behind the wheel.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered takes players back to what these games used to be and looks great doing it. As it includes all of the major expansions and comes at a discounted price, it’s also a fantastic value. Despite playing the original to death, I’ve put way too much time into this fresh release and feel like I haven’t done even half of what I want to do with it. A perfect companion to the also highly-recommend Burnout Paradise Remastered, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered should serve as a baseline for what these titles should be in the future.

Even after 10 years, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is bursting with some of the most thrilling racing gameplay out there.

As a re-release of one of the finest arcade racers of the modern era, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is a tasty treat in 2020 too. We do miss a bit more value for the money than just the improved graphics and crossplay.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered brings an old classic back with some quality of life improvementes, but the "remastered" side falls a little bit too short.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is pure arcade madness, with a couple of interesting new multiplayer modes, a killer soundtrack and an accessible, instant-action approach to its career and online contingents.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is a true blast from the past, for better or worse. The driving feels sublime, and the updated visuals look fantastic at 30 fps. The added crossplay provides even more opportunities to partner with online racers for high-speed hijinks regardless of platform. However, the lack of any difficulty settings and the rubber banding serve as a stark reminder of how far the racing genre has come in 10 years.

Ten years after its original release, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit remains one of the best games of the IP, but the remaster is quite light, with no new content and only lightly improved visuals.

A fine remaster of one of the best Need For Speed games ever made.

Hot Pursuit Remastered misses a few chances to really bring itself into the current era of racers, but it still has no trouble reminding you why it is one of the best racers of its time.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered feels as great as it did in 2010, and modernizes the graphics just enough to make it look as good as I remember the original looking at release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. But with little new here other than those improved visuals and some nifty cosmetic additions, this is definitely the bare minimum expectation of a remaster. That’s a bit of a bummer as we head into an ambitious new generation of consoles this month, but Hot Pursuit still holds up as a great game in its own right. Races are blistering fast, the car selection is mouth-watering, and the high-speed dances between opposing cars never gets old.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered brings back a fantastic arcade racing game, and is still brilliant fun 10 years down the line. Autolog feels right at home in 2020, and the over-the-top cops vs. racers gameplay is a blast. While the remaster itself is a little underwhelming, and some of the original title's issues remain, this is nonetheless a great game for petrol heads and adrenaline junkies everywhere.

Despite the aged feel, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered offers cross-platform asynchronous multiplayer powered by Autolog. While this may be hit or miss for new fans, it’s admirable that Criterion Games and EA wanted to maintain the original gameplay experience that created the cult following within the Need for Speed community. This is now the best way to play Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit as it’s updated for the PS4 and Xbox One without losing anything that made the original game great.

An eye-opening restoration of arguably the purest title in the series, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered brings distilled white-knuckle thrills and furious racing back in fashion once more. It's time to party like it's 2010.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit: Remastered is a solid update to a classic racing title, bringing the fun gameplay and blistering action of 2010's original to current systems with improved online functionality and new graphics.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit: Remastered is the result of an interesting restoration and, all in all, fairly successful.

Despite additions like crossplay and a 60fps performance mode this is merely a halfhearted remaster of a once very good arcade racer. Having said that, the still terrific autolog system keeps you motivated, while the pursuits are still highly enjoyable.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit is a gem from 2010 that we didn’t really need again. It definitely wasn’t in my top 5 NFS games to come back as a remaster, but still one to welcome with its new additions. This is a game for those who never experienced it in its initial state in 2010 or for those who want some variation in the arcade racing genre in the meantime until the 2021 iteration is released.

As far as I’m concerned, what set Hot Pursuit apart was the combat — and honestly, if you’re after high speed racing, big crashes, and a remastered game from a decade ago, I don’t know why you wouldn’t just get Burnout Paradise Remastered instead, since that blended them a lot better. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is still above-average as racers go, but if you’re like me, you’ll probably come away from it feeling like it’s not quite as great as you may remember.

Ten after its initial release, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is still a really good game, and the few improvements Stellar Entertainment has brought to refresh it a bit. Nervous, easy to learn and rather dense thanks to the addition of DLC, the title fits without much difficulty in a market where purely arcade racing games are rare, despite an aging general structure.

For Hot Pursuit purists who want to compete with friends again via Autolog or just want pure fun in the linear career mode, the remaster is definitely worth a look. For all others, however, I cannot give a recommendation at the price of 40 euros. Yes, it is nice to have the game on current consoles, but the release policy seems strange.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is still a great game a decade later, but it’s even better now with the addition of modern multiplayer sensibilities, improved visuals, and an expansive single-player campaign.

We could praise riveting races, unforgiving opponents and spectacular destructibility – but all that was already present in the original game. So what does remaster bring to the table? The answer is “nothing”. [Issue#250, page 52]

Hot Pursuit was a great and extremely fun arcade racing game in its initial release, and it remains an enjoyable experience today in this remastered version. But we feel there were more things that should have been done with this version, things that were, sadly, left out.

You won't miss anything spectacular when you skip NFS: Hot Pursuit, but if you're having extremely warm feelings for the original from 2010 and can't get enough of the traditional cat-and-mouse-game between the cops and racers, then this game is still the bomb, especially in the multiplayer.

The technical improvements are so minor, especially on the base PS4, you honestly might as well just play the PS3 version from ten years ago. Both are lots of fun. [Issue#182, p.138]

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remaster is fair game, that will be fun for a while, but it is an anachronic production. It feels stuck in 2010 and refuses to see all the evolution that happened to car racing games since then. Those who have played it have no real reason to buy it again, since nothing new has been added, and the graphic update is not breathtaking. This leaves those who have never played it as a potential audience. But honestly, they are better off with newer games than Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remaster, since this is a remaster only in title, stuck in 2010 practices.

This game is an active exercise in the "don't fix what isn't broken" mentality, banking on nostalgia, and succeeding greatly at that. It doesn't really bring much that's new to the table but it's a recommended buy for anyone who wants a simple racer or is a fan of Hot Pursuit at the price it's going for.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is as good as the original was - with all its post-launch content. But it feels more like a lazy port than a proper remaster of this racing game that you can, of course, still enjoy on Nintendo Switch.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered works perfectly as a nostalgic walk through one of the most beloved titles on PS3. However, the game is far from the greatness it had in its day, completely out of date in terms of multiplayer, progression or customization in comparison to current arcade driving games, which are better at practically everything.

Amid its chaotic titular mode, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is as nail-biting as it was a decade ago. With a new lick of paint and the full suite of DLC included, it is a definitive version of a game that — at its best — sits between a combat and arcade racer, pitting Racer against Cop. Aside from these highlight moments, its a touch barebones and doesn't stack up against what else is available today.

In a world full of remasters, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit doesn't get first place. The adrenaline that goes into each race or chase is super high. But the lows of the game loading and car handling weigh the game down. Hot Pursuit stays true to its roots and to that it deserves a nod. It's a fun racing game the developers can hopefully improve upon for future remasters.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered welcomes you back to Seacrest County in an interesting fashion, and for lovers of the 2010 title who are perhaps looking to redeem this year with the help of some Hot Pursuit nostalgia, then it's certainly worth checking out. With that said, playing this game 10 years on has made me wonder if I'd enjoy this remaster as much as if I was playing the original for the first time in 2020. While the remastered version does include slightly better graphics, DLC and various quality of life updates, I'm still left wondering if this is enough to wow any newcomers or die-hard NFS fans who are more interested in other series entries.

The formerly classic arcade racer gets a high resolution makeover, but 10 years later and the one note driving model now feels functional rather than exciting.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit may have had its heyday, but this particular entry feels well past its prime with bland visuals, uninteresting courses, and terrible controls.

Cars will also spawn infront of you right near the end so you go first to last 500 yards from finnish line happens to me more oftern then not. Plz plz fix
This is why I don't pre order games what a letdown
