Outlast II - Creepy Teaser Trailer
May 1, 2017Outlast 2 could well be the scariest horror game I have played to date. There were a few very minor gripes, but the isolation, desolation, and desperation were noticeable throughout. The sense of fear was more impactful than in the first game, and there were parts where I played hiding behind anything I could get my hands on. I went to Temple Gate, and I did not enjoy my stay. And by that statement alone, I have to applaud Red Barrels for creating such a brilliant game.
May 1, 2017I played same 10 hours on this game, on normal (as my son advised me that Outlast games are really hard on hard).
A- GRAPHICS- The game looksI played same 10 hours on this game, on normal (as my son advised me that Outlast games are really hard on hard).
A- GRAPHICS- The game looks beautiful. Textures are very detailed. Frame rates are high. The atmosphere created submerses you into the game (also, it's half the price of an AAA game- it is as nice as RE7- leave the VR aside).
B- STORY- This is not a game for kids or teenagers. The subjects on the games are reserved for Adults. I found it compelling so far, though I anticipate the ending will not reveal everything.
C- Game play. Unlike RE7, you never feel safe, there is no safe room or weapons to protect you. That is thrilling. Mechanics are great and I haven't find a bug. Also, there is a lot of trial and error, so be ready to die several times reasonlessly. Also, I understand people complaining about the game being repetitive however I do not feel that way about the game.… Expand

It's an intense ride from start to finish with an interesting story and horrific monster designs. The switch between real world and otherworld gives the game an old Silent Hill kind of vibe, something that I've missed very dearly. The bandages, limited running endurance, and improved AI gives the game the depth that it's predecessors lacked. The areas give you just enough signposting to keep you going on the right track. With the new Story Mode update, there's no reason to miss out on this amazing experience.… Expand

More anxiety than Horror
In Outlast 2 you play as a cameraman working with your wife doing your investigative journalism thing, getting to the bottom of the possible murder of a pregnant woman
And then your helicopter crashes, you can’t find your wife, and you spend the rest of the game trying to find her…
Outlast 2 is more open feeling than the claustrophobic original…
While at the same time much more linear feeling
But I found it to be a lot more stressful…
Instead of 4 hours, Outlast 2 clocks in at a little less than 7…
Which felt to be a bit of a mistake...
It feels like it drags on forever, mostly thanks to the games awful pacing…
This is still la survival horror game, collect batteries for your camera, use that camera to record things and as a light source, collect bandages to heal yourself when you’re hurt and get through everything the game throws at you..
Hide under beds, and in barrels and lockers...
But the game is missing those tense moments the original had…
I feel outlast 2 throws way too many enemies at your way too often…
This is where the pacing issue comes in...
You never have down time, you never have time to soak in the environment and let it creep you out… because beyond the first chapter the game is throwing multiple enemies for you to deal with around every corner... and it isn’t tense or scary, it’s annoying...
Getting through sections of the game is frustrating...
You never feel like stealth is a real option...
It never really feels like it works…
Enemey detection is way too sensitive and I felt like they always knew where I was
and I felt like I had to trigger enemies, make them chase me, and run around the map to get past sections…
And some points in the game you’re forced to deal with situations like this
and it just never stops, making the game feel like a chore, especially in the final few chapters..
The game is gorgeous though, and creepy
it’s full of jump scares and surprises, especially with the random transitions between your location in this religious cult and a catholic school…
The game never becomes predictable.
And is definitely worth seeing through to the end,
I don’t want to set any expectations, but I’ll just say it’s better than the original outlasts ending.
Outlast 2 has a lot going for it, as does the series in general...
I just wish it stuck to the one enemy at a time formula the original had... it made moments tense...
instead of throwing multiple enemies at you that you cant deal with and never letting you breathe…
Again, I was more annoyed by outlast 2 than I was scared by it…
The Demo was a more enjoyable experience for me than the actual game
I give Outlast 2
a 7.5/10… Expand

The terribleOutlast II is a running simulator with hardly any necessary hiding, and with no sense of direction on where to run or escape to. The terrible design and lack of proper direction of where to escape often ruins any enjoyment to be had with the game, since that's all it really is. Also, your battery life is way too short, often dying within 2 minutes when using night vision in order to even see most of the time, and your guy doesn't run fast far enough before getting exhausted and outrun by whoever is chasing you. The game is too hard, in the worst possible way. The whole thing is just cheap. There are a couple good scares here and there like in the school, but most of it is just pure frustration. Not as good as Outlast 1.… Expand

Expand
