As it stands, the game is a must-own if you have a consistent group of 3-4 players.

Paperbound is a riot, and a ton of fun to play with a group of people.

If you’re looking for a new local multiplayer game for you and your friends, then Paperbound might just be the right one, with its fresh take on the genre and brilliantly inspired aesthetic.

The best way to determine whether Paperbound is for you is by answering one simple question: can you assemble a group of people to play video games with on a regular occasion? If the answer's yes, then put this on your watch list; it's a fun and fulfilling casual brawler that will provide solid afternoons of multiplayer action. If not, then you should probably consider closing the book on your interest in this.

It is great in bursts, and when you have friends playing with you, Paperbound glows with energy. But the lack of online or additional content takes its toll.

Paperbound may not have the depth needed to penetrate the ever-growing e-sports scene, but that’s beside the point. Boot up Paperbound and gather together a group of four friends, and you’re almost guaranteed to have a good time.

Paperbound is an incredibly fun game that gives a gravitational spin on the same kind of competitive insanity that inspires Smash Bros. or Towerfall. Its amazingly simple aesthetics work well, and the simple nature of the game means anybody can pick it up and have a crack at it.

Paperbound isn't all that exciting even for hardcore arena veterans, but the foundation is there for a fast-paced frag-fest. The developers employed a half-measure when it comes to aesthetics and content, but there's plenty of fun to be had once you start flipping out and making gravity your bitch.

The idea is good, but because of its lack of content and its repetitive nature, the novelty wears off quite soon.

The handful of game modes provide limited fun in Paperbound. Created to suit a party environment, it’s the type of game you break out when friends are over for a quick brawl or two before moving on to the next game.

Paperbound has a lot holding it back but at its core it’s is an inventive, feverish multiplayer game that has in it the magic to inspire the same kind of cursing and joy as the best multiplayer game – it is the magic of the formula.

Built for local couch multiplayer matchups with friends, Paperbound is definitely a quality option for parties, but otherwise will likely be collecting dust on your hard drive in the mean time.

For a party game, it’s a fun, frantic time for about 30 minutes every once in a while, but this will still just be a game you’ll want to boot up when people are around.

There are over 14 characters to choose from, tons of stages, and over 6 game modes. For once, a local multiplayer indie game lets you play against friends with or without the addition of bots. Paperbound is on sale for $7.99 this week. If you liked Towerfall Ascension's gameplay Paperbound will feel right at home. My only complaints are that the stages feel too big for 1v1 matches and the characters only differ for aesthetic reasons. Still, this game is worth it and deserves your purchase. Full Review »

There are a fair amount of different characters that don't really matter much except for their size as everyone does the same thing. Where this game is great, is how quickly the matches are and how responsive all the controls are and switching your gravity mid-jump can make for some very fun and crazy movement. Full Review »
