Who are they? Why are they dressed as such? What are their motives? And... why are they being pursued? A picaresque coming-of-age story, Persona 5 brings a new twist to the RPG genre. Assume the role of a second-year high school student who becomes a Persona-user through an unexpected incident. Having moved to Tokyo just before the start of the school year, he finds residence at a cafe run by his parents' friend, and is about to get his first taste of school life in the big city. The protagonist seems quiet and well-mannered at first glance, but gives a completely different impression once he has donned his "phantom thief" guise. What is the motivation of his alter ego...? Arsene is the protagonist's initial Persona, characterized by a mask-like face and a pair of huge, black wings. Some suspect an association between its name and the famous gentleman-thief, Arsene Lupin. What is the origin of this Persona, and what power does it hold? This is an account of the wild adventures experienced by a team of young misfits, who grow dramatically along the way. While attending Shujin High School, the protagonist will encounter a number of individuals, each with his or her own distinctive personality and charm. School life in the city is full of surprises and interesting events! It will most definitely be a fun year for the protagonist, living as an ordinary student. However, he and his friends become involved in an incident which leads to the awakening of their Personas. No one would ever suspect that these adolescents will eventually shake the world... Welcome to the next iteration of the Persona series, boasting a brand new metropolitan setting, all-new cast, and fresh, original story. [Atlus]

Girls and boys, Persona 5 is simply the new king of Japanese role playing games, and it may even be 2016's game of the year. The story is so deep, the battle system is so well-executed, the art direction is so amazing and the music is so groovy! I instantly felt in love with this game and I am pretty sure you will too.

The last chapter of one of our favourite series improved over the previous chapters in every, possible way. The storyline is unique and much more consistent, and the production values (art direction, soundtrack, dubbing, graphics) are simply top-notch. The fact that the dungeons aren't randomly generated anymore is just the cherry on top.

Its Atlus's watershed moment—which is to say, the moment they allowed the Persona series to truly grow up and earn that “M for Mature” rating.

It’s a spectacular RPG experience that is truly in a league of its own, and fans of the series and the genre in general owe it to themselves to check it out.

Persona 5 is periodically fascinating, but it’s unable to maintain the required level of interest and energy over such an extended running time. If it were half as long and cut out most of the repetition, it’d be a much tighter, more enjoyable experience. As it stands, adventuring with the Phantom Thieves sags way too often to be a heartfelt recommendation.

If you like RPG’s you’ll love this game. It does take about 4 hours to get good though, but the entire game is about 80-100 hours of content.

I even put it on English VA for a laugh to hear the pathetic Hollywood style voice acting in every game.

So going from youtube on my phone to the 50" changed everything, it looked amazing, the music was dated but in a kind of cool retro style and fitted the aesthetics of the game well. Then the VA. What a **** miracle, it was actually good. Yes, I'm not lying it was actually pretty good. So far I have played virtually nothing but it has been bad as **** and it has totally surprised me.

I never even play PS4 much, I just play my Switch but this game is going to be consuming some time. I can see it coming.

Production on this is pro level.

The combinationAs someone who played most of the various main and side games in the Persona 3 and 4 series, I was eagerly awaiting Persona 5. The combination of a clever strategic round-based/card-based battle system, social bonds and a deep story with multi-layered characters is a winning formula and in my opinion Persona has overtaken Final Fantasy as the premier japanese role playing series.
As a normal user, I have only put about 10 hours into the game so far, but the experience has been great, the presentation is stellar.
What surprised me is that the story starts on a high pretty quickly, introducing some fundamental movement and battle concepts as a sort-of tutorial. Not until about five hours into the game it is that things settle down a bit and exploration and day planning starts.
Granted the framework of the game and the type of characters is very familiar to people who played previous Persona games, but the presentation is so much better. If I would describe the art style, it is similar to Atlus' puzzle game "Catherine".
There is now much more voice acting than e.g. in Persona 4 Golden, and it feels like a lot of time has been spent on the localization, so the experience is very polished.
From the experience so far, this it is a great JRPG title that is not afraid on taking on more serious topics like abuse of students by teachers and sexual assault that is tolerated by the surroundings, while also blending in more light-hearted elements.

The discovery and fusion of persona is addictive and compelling, battles are always fun, and there are plenty of things to do without being overwhelming. The palaces are all unique and fun. Battles are as easy or as challenging as you want them to be.

I played the game for over 100 hours and didn't get any fatigue until the last 5 or so.

I highly recommend this game if you are a fan of the rpg genre.
