If you play with another human than the fun factor is very high. However, if you are stuck with an A.I. companion then prepare to suffer. This title is a straight action game and has no real horror elements. Resident Evil seems to have lost their way with this title.

I've played all the resident evil and this was the worst of all, but that's just my opinion. If you want to realise how bad was REV 5 just compare it with REV 4. Come on it's not that dificult..!

Resident Evil 5 is a great co-op action game, but a poor Resident Evil game. It was the first Resident Evil title that I had ever played and I absolutely loved it. But as I went on to play the older titles, I realized that Resident Evil 5 is not as good as the rest of the series. I don’t mind that it’s co-op or that it’s more of an action game, but the story is over-the-top. What made theResident Evil 5 is a great co-op action game, but a poor Resident Evil game. I don’t mind that it’s co-op or that it’s more of an action game, but the story is over-the-top. What made the stories of the previous games great was that they were simple and stuck to a few locations. With this game, you’re fighting enemies in the most ridiculous of locations and it bothers me a lot. Resident Evil has never been realistic, but I’d argue that Resident Evil is at it’s best when somewhat grounded in realism. Just enough to take it seriously. If you’re looking for a solid gameplay with a friend, then this is a great title. If you’re just someone who wants a solid action game, this is probably an 8/10. But when you look at it as a Resident Evil game, I feel that it has to be lowered for going in a direction that most fans did not approve of. The PS4 version does include all of the DLC and runs at 60 frames per second if you do care about that like I do. You get two DLC missions that should add over an hour of story and extra characters for the Mercenaries. One of the DLC missions is called “Lost in Nightmares”. It goes for that horror feel and I’d argue that the rest of the game should’ve played like it. As a package, I can definitely recommend this version. Expand

RE5 is a really good game, and with the better resolution and frame rate its even better than before. The story is average but the gameplay is a ton of fun especially when playing with a friend. But playing this game solo can become boring after a while. Overall RE5 is a really good game when played with a friend but when played solo its alright.

Compared to the previous games, is not very interesting. Didn't like the yellow filter and overall savanna vibes. Playing with AI is kinda painful. Not quite the Resident Evil experience I'm used to. Still, enjoyable.

Resident evil 5 is an interesting case where I feel the game doesn't fully know what it wants to be. The first third is straight up a more corridor centric RE4 that is decent at best. The middle is more open and really is the highlight of the game for me. The final third is a roller coaster of quality with some brilliant section but it also tries to jump in on the trend set by gears of warResident evil 5 is an interesting case where I feel the game doesn't fully know what it wants to be. The first third is straight up a more corridor centric RE4 that is decent at best. The middle is more open and really is the highlight of the game for me. The final third is a roller coaster of quality with some brilliant section but it also tries to jump in on the trend set by gears of war 3 years prior and it is a miserable attempt due to the stiffness of the controls which really becomes apparent in these sections. The story of the game is far more connected to the RE universe than 4 and is compelling but none of the characters are standouts like Leon was in RE4. The game has a good variety of environments so the visuals at the very least don't go stale. Pretty much every enemy is similar to RE4's and they function well minus in the cover shooting sections. The boss fights are very hit or miss. 3 of them are great but the rest are absolutely awful. This is an action game not a survival horror one. There's only one section in the game that felt remotely like a survival horror and it was my favorite section in the game. It's not that I hate action I actually prefer action games to survival horror however while this control scheme is perfect for RE4 it is not a fit for a gears of war like game that this game wants to be. It's the indecision in whether to be one or the other but in the end it is neither and the lack of a concrete vision is seen in it's quality. What makes or breaks this game is whether u play in coop or not. If you do it's a good solid game if u don't it is decent at best as the ai isn't the best. The ai in particular is awful at taking cover in those shooting sections leading to much unwanted frustration. Mercenaries returns and is better than in RE4 in my opinion and it comes with the two dlc packs that are two of the best levels in the game. If your playing with a friend there are better but it's a good time but if your playing alone be ready for some potential frustration, worth playing for diehard RE fans but that's about it

Resident Evil in a nutshell is all about heroic action heroes battling all manner of freaky freak created by a evil corporation. Visuals are still pretty nice even for a game as old as this. Not exactly the direction I wanted the initially creepy Resident Evil IP to go in, but I thought the same about RE4. The controls are old age clunky, but nowhere near as bad as RE4 on a controller.Resident Evil in a nutshell is all about heroic action heroes battling all manner of freaky freak created by a evil corporation. This is a game that works better with friends. The co-op isn't to bad, but isn't great either. It hasn't aged or dated as bad as RE4. Same as RE4 only being able to fire when stationary was a massive tactical limitation and some immersion breaking game world logic. A nice roster of upgradable weapons was the personal carrot on the stick for many a new game+ replay.

Resident Evil 5 was released in 2009 and received 84/100 score. Now, the game was outdated on release (compare with Uncharted 2) yet it was considered positively by critics and many players. The DLCs Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape were much better than the base game since they were more similar to the older games or more action based, respectively. But the game is just a boring stiff third person shooter with awful opening levels.

It is not the best RE but it has really aged well.

I think the real RE 5 is the chapter "Lost in Nightmares", the most rescuable.

Resident Evil 5 is a good game, it just lacks an identity and atmosphere to be truly memorable, despite many satisfying story moments.

The DLC "Lost in Nightmares" is amazing.

The worst game of all parts of Resident evil. This is a shooter, not a horror survivor.

The gameplay it's too rigid and repetitive.
The history and Narrative were okay.
I played on ps3, it had an amazing graphics.
Compared to another games from resident evil, definitely this game it's not as good as the others.
    But i enjoyed this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game (unfortunately) is just the beginning of the end of good RE games like I literally felt like playing a gears of war game the AI is annoying for players who play alone the gameplay is so similar to RE 4's gameplay and the story lacks from the usual resident evil vibe and the worst thing was Wesker's death like couldn't they just give him a more epic death at least but I liked lost in nightmares though even if the last boss fight wasn't so satisfying. Having played this game for countless hours when I was a young teen with my cousin, I was intrigued on playing through over 10 years later when it was available on ps4. I don't want to be quoted on this but I think they just upped the game to 1080p and 60fps, as of most recently remastered games. Despite this I did not get even half the enjoyabilty as

It was a fun game , the horror aspect of the game is close to none but still very gory and the story is average but contains some OG characters so that always gave this game brownie points

Its so meh, this is where I started to lose hope for resi. While I don't think this is an awful game, it still has many flaws such as just being really forgettable, bad dialogue, badly aged graphics that tried to be realistic at the time, the enemy ai is really dumb and easy to fool, lastly just a really bad coop system for weapon sharing. This game is pretty fun especially with second player. There are some pretty fun sequences and shooting galleries'. The combat is unique in the same way as RE4 and has some pretty satisfying animations to compliment your weapon fire. Unfortunately this game is longer than it needs to be and there are some notably poorly designed sections.

The only thing still attractive about RE5 is Sheva Alomar. Everything else – the design, the mechanics, the visuals (it’s a port, not a remaster) – aged to various degrees, but always noticeably. [09/2016, p.63]
