Score Rush Extended is a fantastic remake of what had already been an excellent shooter.

Score Rush Extended might look and sound a little generic, but it's a solid, back-to-basics shooter that truly tests your arcade skills. Its bullet hell gameplay is nicely tuned to be highly challenging and addictive, and it's just plain fun to play. If you're a fan of hardcore shooters, definitely check it out.

By doing away with the trappings of modern bullet-hell shooters, Score Rush Extended is able to deliver a tight shoot 'em up that rewards focus and skill over help and luck.

Score Rush Extended might not put a lot on the table with only two game modes, but in the end it doesn’t matter. Thanks to its ultra-colourful, fast-paced, high-octane action, this is a game you’ll find hard to put down, playing to constantly beat your old score.

It may not have a ton of content for players looking for variation, but if you embrace what Score Rush Extended offers, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding enjoyment.

The stripped back mechanics and simplified gameplay might not be for everyone, but few shooters manage to appeal to both a Western and Japanese audience while somehow delivering an experience that is as fun for the casual gamer as it is for the hardcore.

This game is highly addictive. This game had me chasing high scores for weeks. The sprite tsunami that is Score Rush runs butter smooth on my PS4. The soundtrack will continue to play in your head days after your last game, and thats not a bad thing. Control is key in a bullethell shooter(or any game imo), and this game has it down. 10/10. There should be more games like this. Expand

I love the frenzied gameplay and music but I hate that I plateaued quite soon with the game. On the Normal Score Rush setting there is certainly a learning curve but in time I was able to complete the game. After playing the game for 7 hours or so over the course of a week this was the only game setting I could complete. The Expert difficulty proved too challenging as did the Boss setting and having dual ships. The options/help menu is useful and I recommend setting all enemy bullets to one color. Learning when to use the bomb (get 3 of them per play) and manuevering after eliminating enemies that cause a screen shake (gives temporary invincibility) are key as knowing how to orienate your trailing orbs (unlike the firing power-ups the trailing orbs disappear when you get hit). I like that the game heavily values speed as eliminating enemies faster gets more points and gives you some strategy. Most of the trophies are attainable. As the game's description describes there are no scoring gimmicks which I also appreciate (incredibly my score of 192,000,000 was far outmatched by the leader at the time of this review on the Score Rush - Normal by more than 150,000,000 points). Having never really partaken in the arcade shooter type game I wasn't sure if I'd have fun playing this but I certainly did. Just be wary that this game gets very difficult very quickly in all modes other than Score Rush - Normal. Expand
