Shadow of the Colossus is a tremendous journey, and one well worth taking and retaking. The visual overhaul is stunning, thoroughly enhancing every facet of Wander and Agro's excellent adventure. Galloping through the tranquil world is always breathtaking; felling a monumental colossus is always humbling. Shadow of the Colossus is a beautiful reconstruction of an already exceptional title. It continues to be a modern classic and is an extraordinary game that everyone must experience.

The concept of Shadow of the Colossus is unique and full of charm. The remastered version on PS4 is remarkable, which means it is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to try it, no matter whether you are an existing fan or a new player. However, Fumito Ueda's works are always a little bit cult, so it is also understandable if you may not get into this game.

The best way to experience Shadow of the Colossus — play a couple of levels at a friend’s or use the Share Play function. This game was a hit in its time, on its original platform, but we all moved on, and now the remastered version feels archaic, especially its gameplay.

I couldn't play the original on PS2 as the camera was infuriatingly impossible to control but glad I revisited this game the developer Bluepoint has refined and polished it to a fine tee. Closest you're likely to get to Zelda-esque title on PS4, so satisfying to take down this huge scale Colossi and the musical score to accompany it is just breathtaking at times.

    A true masterpiece.

    A masterpiece reborn

Ever since i heard shadow of The colossus was getting a remake i was overjoyed. I've played it on ps2, loved the remaster and now im able to play the remake of one the best action titles ever created. I couldn't be happier that this remake happened. The graphics, sound,  everything has been remade running on a brand new game engine entirely. The colosi and environments have been overloaded with amazing detail and the world feels very alive despite the quieting emptiness of it. With detailed texture work and lighting this game looks absolutely gorgeous. It's also butter smooth hardly ever dropping frames even when giant colossi are thrashing about. The story has been left untouched retaining the same emotional journey the original offered. No new colosi or extra story but Everything else however has been improved to the MAX. Bluepoint games did a phenomenal job of remaking this classic. ID even go as far to say this surpasses the original and is one of if not the best game remakes ever created. A masterpiece has been made even better i can't wait to see what bluepoint games does next. Absolutely incredible job. 10/10

Shadow of the Colossus was fun while playing it, but the game is really short and that is mildly disappointing.

Most of the reviews are based mainly in nostalgia, one of them even recounting solely their past experiences with the game, reviews such as this have more than likely artificially boosted this game to it's current position on this site. Looking at the game alone; it controls horribly, the player character is really floaty and awkward, even more so for that of the horse, she will get stuck on every little object, which in tandem with her wide turning is horrible for maneuverability, especially in forested areas. The climbing of the colossi in this game is also very iffy, to say the least, climbing these things during the boss fights is a pain, with the last boss being the worst of them all. Not the difficulty of managing the stamina meter, that is simply one of the game's mechanics; just when the try to shake you off, when the colossi shake the player characters grip tends to shift, during the 15th boss i was holding onto the boss' shoulder armor when it started to shake, I got flung to it's back, and then to the floor, during which my stamina meter was more than half way full. My Final criticism for this game is the strenuous animation, particularly when getting up after being knocked down, to site another instance in the game, during the 11th boss, i was rammed and my character was knocked onto the ground where he remained while he was hit twice more and died. This game is beautiful and back in the day i see how it would've been deserving of this high a standing when compared to other games of the time, but this game has been released twice since then, bringing in more money for the same developers for the same game, adding nothing but aesthetics, and garnering the same praise, so, is this game worth buying? I'd say that this game is worth buying to an extent, those who are nostalgic for the original will be the main audience for this game, but if you're someone who happens to have (as of writing this) $30 burning a hole in your wallet, or you just want to experience a style of game not so prevalent today, then the Shadow Of The Colossus is the game for you.
