Shadow Warrior on PS4 is a brilliant homage to what make the 90's video gaming world so entertaining!

Shadow Warrior is a game that you simply must own, because it represents a by gone era where videogames didn’t take themselves at all seriously. And we all need a bit of fun in our lives.

Shadow Warrior is a great game full with blood, gore and a lot of one-liners. It has some great action, but the implementation of the touch pad on the PlayStation 4 doesn't work well and a little bit more of variation wouldn't kill.

As a smarter-than-it-looks nostalgia trip, then, Shadow Warrior delivers, and as long as you keep that in mind - and consume it in moderation - it's an easy recommendation.

Shadow Warrior is an entertaining game, perhaps limited in it's technical possibilities, but perfect to have a great time listening bad jokes, tearing apart demon limbs with a katana and shooting around. Pretty straightforward. It won't give you anything new, but it won't disappoint you.

Shadow Warrior is a good shooter that stands out for its humor and fast-paced action, and that's enough to satisfy fans of FPS until something more substantial.

Shadow Warrior is more than just puerile jokes and demons – there are some quite interesting technical faults in there as well. The personality of the game is enough to recommend to those that enjoy old-school shooters, but it comes with a warning: Wang should probably be taken in small doses.

I don’t think I’ve ever had this much fun playing a game! Crazy weapons, insane combos and lots of enemies - 10 out of 10 game for me, love it

I played the original many years ago and the developers made sure they placed some subtle nuances into this version. Shooting the rabbits to reveal the black rabbit is a definite cross-over. The tongue and cheek comments from Wang aren't as funny, but I enjoy the conversations between him and the demon mask.

I do find it quite difficult at times, trying to cast magic while running for my life gets a little confusing at times, for me at least.

The hidden women from the original game are in there as well, and I am saying the original 16 bit women. :-) Just listen for the music and singing and you will find them.

    For $40.00 it's a good solid game.

A time when it didn't matter if the game had a good story or if the developers hired Kevin Spacey as a character or if the game has amazing cut scene visuals, all what matter is killing hoards of bad guys with an awesome arsenal. It's has good graphics, classic game play and a SAMURAI SWORD. It's cheap go buy it. Expand

The graphics areI've never played the original Shadow Warrior for the PC from the 90's, but for a modernized version it's a pretty solid FPS. The graphics are very nice and in some parts beautiful. The voice acting is ok. Full of cheesy dirty jokes which are the charm of the game I suppose. The sound design is pretty ok, nothing really stands out though. The combat is nice mixing swordplay with guns and different upgrades and abilities you give Lo Wang. Which brings me to the upgrades and powers. You can upgrade your guns and sword and abilities with in-game currency, karma points for getting new skills, and Ki crystals for getting new powers. So it has RPG elements too. Good news for classic FPS players: health packs instead of regenerating health. The enemy AI for the most part is ok. Sometimes taking cover, other times running head-on at you. The different environments look good but none of them really stood out and made me say "I like this level" except for maybe 2 or 3 of them. Gameplay can become repetitive if you're not mixing up your combat enough. The bosses in the game with the exception for the final boss are very forgettable. They look nice but the environment is practically the same, again not including the final boss. Basically, this a 90's game with nicer graphics. Some like it, others don't. I'm a person that happens to like it for the most part. It's definitely worth playing. A buy for hardcore fans of old school shooters or collector's looking for a solid game to add to their collection. But for everyone else it's probably a rent. Expand

Fans of Serious Sam and Duke Nukem will probably like it. The story is rubbish, something about stealing a magical katana from gangsters. The lengthy campaign features plenty of secrets and challenges. All of the weapons, skills and abilities can be upgraded. Along with the story mode, there's also survival horde maps and unlockable concept artwork. This is an indie game and it shows with its dated graphics and lack of enemy types. While the shooting/slashing gameplay is fun, it does get a bit repetitive. Still, fans of retro shooters will find this to be a gem. I would rate it with a 7.6 out of 10. Expand

The game proper? 7/10 The developer and publisher? Big fat 0/10.
There is a bug on PS4 where if you have too many friends in your Friends list (I think over 100?) the game will crash unless you stay signed out of PSN when you launch it and the whole time you are playing. I have sent countless e-mails, tweets, and Facebook posts to the developers and publishers but they have made clear they are simply "not interested" in fixing this massive bug in both the retail and digital copies because "few people" are affected. Yeah right! New posts pop up on Facebook all the time with people having this same problem. I even told them its related to the friends list and how someone deleted all their friends to fix the issue. And how my alt account with 0 friends doesn't have the issue. But they still have no interest in fixing it. So, I have no interest in buying any more of their games or in giving them a fair review. SHAME ON YOU Devolver Digital and Flying Wild Hog. SHAME ON YOU.
