Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition offers the same solid game experience, but as the DLC's that are included are not brilliant, we wonder if the the astonishing graphics is worth the big price difference with the original one.

Definitive Edition is not quite an essential purchase – especially if you already played and finished the original release – but it’s definitely worth picking up if you’re hankering after the kind of open world criminal action that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

A more polished version of an already polished game.

It's a shame we're not getting any new content here, but it is indeed the best opportunity to try an outstanding game that have already surprised many players during the previous generation.

There isn't a good enough reason to double-dip if you played the original, but if you haven't had the pleasure, we'd suggest you Triad it out. [Dec 2014, p.94]

While it can look nice under the right conditions (usually during well-lit cutscenes or when the sun goes down), Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is the least impressive new-gen remaster I've seen so far. And as somebody who played through the entirety of the game upon its original release, the visual tweaks on offer here did little to convince me that I need to play it, or more importantly pay for it all over again.

I 100%'d Sleeping Dogs on 360 when it was originally released and I loved it enough to give it another go on PS4 after the remastering, therefore my review is of the Definitive Edition.

I love the story, a dark and brutal foray into the untraveled in video games East. The Hong Kong underworld complete with sex trafficking, drugs, triads and corruption is fantastic. The combat is awesome and is a more complex version than what the recent Arkham games offer complete with upgrades. It takes a while to get to grips with controlling vehicles, once you do however it has a more "Action Movie" feel to it than other games of this genre. Over all the game itself is terrific, I'd give it a 9/10

This is where it lets itself down, yes it has all the DLC and such but as far as a visual and audio overhaul its barely had one. All they have really done is made everything shiny and glisten. The neon has a bit more image flare and its a bit more higher resolution but that's about it. When it rains it looks really good but my major gripe is how empty Hong Kong is. Aesthetically the game is abandoned and sparsely populated, the city simply isn't alive enough. The pedestrians have about 7>10 possibilities of things they can say and there aren't enough of them. Sometimes there are literally zero vehicles on the road. To me this is not a next-gen overhaul. It is more fitting of a past gen GOTY re-release.

Summarizing, Sleeping Dogs is a fantastic action game and it is very underappreciated. However as far as remasters and definitive editions go this is a flop. Taking into consideration a certain other open world crime game which was remastered into practically a brand new game *cough, cough* GTAV *cough* the remastering of Sleeping Dogs is pretty sub-par.

The story is bland and the voice acting is the physical incarnation of AIDS itself, but the gameplay is fun and challenging. You play as an undercover cop trying to stop the evil triangle people, because squares are better. You also can kick people off of motorcycles. This game is the kind of stupid fun that you have drunk with your friends and i love it to death.
P.S. don't try to get a gun. You will die every single time.

But was left with PS3 graphics in no way did square Enix enhance the graphics like they claim they did I truly expected better looking graphics on the ps4 version like they did with tomb raider but yet we only got the exact same game with the same ps3 graphics.
The added dlc's is not enough to make this game shine on PS4 if you look at GTA V on PS4 and sleeping dogs you will clearly see how far behind sleeping dogs really is. Sleeping dogs was below average on PS3 and on ps4 it is even worse. The controls is terrible and the driving mechanics is garbage. The entire game is a lost cause and should never have been remastered for ps4. If you like open world crime games on ps4 I suggest stay with GTA V
