This time with trophy support and other PS4 goodies. Being rendered in 1080p does nothing to hide the game's age. The title is still dated visually. However this is still probably the best new way to experience the game. If you're coming in expecting new content though, you are likely to be disappointed. This really is just a PS2 era game with some up-rendering. Luckily it sill holds up well after all these years.
It's some of the best aerial dogfighting this side of old school Star Fox. That's not something I say lightly. Combat is smooth and incredibly satisfying. The controls are perfect and battles are a blast. It really does give you the feeling of being in a starfighter. This is some of the most enjoyable vehicular combat I hav ever experienced.
One thing that really surprised me about the game was it's dedication to storytelling. It's got great cutscenes and ties into Attack of the Clones well. There's a great deal of attention poured into it and not all of the characters are throwaway nobodies. It actually makes the Battle of Genosis feel much larger than what was portrayed onscreen in the movie. A perfect example of how satisfying the former EU of the series could be.
Admittedly though, I didn't really follow it too much or get really invested. The voice acting is genuinely good all around, but some characters are just too cartoony or over-the-top. That and some cheesy humor here and there took away from my interest in the plot.
However, very little could take away from my enjoyment of the gameplay. Some minor camera and control issues in tight areas were all I noticed, and given the scale of the game's conflicts they were barely an issue. There's plenty of extra content to sink your teeth into, and the cooperative gameplay can be greatly appreciated between you and a buddy.
With the exception of the visuals, this is a game that's aged remarkably well. With an excellent campaign and healthy amount of bonus content to keep you coming back, this is a fantastic option if you're looking for some top-notch space combat or just some classic Star Wars fun. The soundtrack alone is a treat for any fan. The expansion of the lore (even if it is possibly non-canon now) is just icing on the cake. It's even more worth it now that it's on the PS4 with trophies for a pretty great price. It's a steal for any Star Wars fan or those who love good space shooters.
