Road to Olympics is a sincere, passionate and compelling love letter to the Olympic spirt. It’s not a proper game about Pyeongchang Winter Games but rather a Steep-style take on them, with a fresh and intense game campaign, an amazing new mountain to explore and a lot of challenges to take. If you loved Steep, you’ll love this expansion even more.
Road to the Olympics adds a stand alone story that follows an olympic snowboarders’ journey from a hopeful participant, to the first person to ever claim gold in three distinctly different snowboarding events: Half-Pipe, Big Air, and Slopestyle. It (mercifully) doesn’t beat you over the head with an in-depth storyline and instead opts for a documentary approach of sorts.

Steep: Road to the Olympics does not quite represent the magnitude of an Olympic event like the Pyeongchang Winter Games 2018, but still includes some pretty fun additions to the Steep formula.
Even with the structure of the Olympic events being lacking, there’s still more than enough content here to justify the asking price.
Road to the Olympics is an expansion that tries to make a different cut compared to the original game: more linear, more simulative and more challenging. Conditions that probably will not be particularly interesting for historical players of the title that can still face new mountains and new challenges in total autonomy and carefree. For those who was waiting for a more structured experience and perhaps tied to something more concrete like the Olympics, with this expansion that comes also packaged in a bundle with the base game, it is definitely a good reason to get on board the multi-sports title Ubisoft to explore the Alps and Alaska once in South Korea.
Ubisoft has plunged the huge potential and brought an expansion nobody will remember after the Olympic Games end. The game is full of imperfections revealing that Ubisoft has bet primarily on the license attraction. Probably the best the game can offer are the new modes of downhill skiing and slalom, or Slopestyle, yet it is obvious, that the expansion could be significantly better.
This content neither plays to Steep's existing strengths nor gives gamers looking for Olympic competition anything satisfying.

Freely explore a massive open world, including iconic Japanese mountains as well as the Alps, where you will train for qualifiers to reach the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.
