  • Summary: Set following the events seen in Borderlands 2, Tales from the Borderlands focuses on Rhys, a Hyperion company man who wants to become the next Handsome Jack, and it’s also about Fiona, a Pandoran con artist intending to score the biggest of all swindles. Baited into danger by a Vault keySet following the events seen in Borderlands 2, Tales from the Borderlands focuses on Rhys, a Hyperion company man who wants to become the next Handsome Jack, and it’s also about Fiona, a Pandoran con artist intending to score the biggest of all swindles. Baited into danger by a Vault key and all it promises, the unlikely pair are thrown together with a common purpose and a great amount of mistrust. Who is speaking the truth, and why is it important? That is for you to decide. It’s important to remember that there *are* two sides to every story, and you will tell this tale, or…tales, through the choices that you make. Your every decision as both Rhys and Fiona will affect the people and environment around you: this is a game where YOU are the final author in a brand new Borderlands story set on the unforgiving world of Pandora. Tales from the Borderlands isn’t just a superb entry point into what appears to be a captivating story, it has the potential to be Telltale’s best work since the first season of The Walking Dead.

Short of not being a fan of the Borderlands franchise, this an incredibly impressive outing – and the fact that it’s not riddled with bugs is just the icing on the cake.

Tales From the Borderlands: Episode One – Zer0 Sum is one heckuva debut. Somehow, the developers allow the action and story to leap off the screen, and they give a sufficient amount of time to each.

A high milestone for the upcoming chapters. Excellent and funky characters make this a frantic and colourful adventure.

    Well-paced, well-acted and brilliantly-written. [Jan 2015, p.94]

As expected, the Borderlands franchise translates perfectly into Telltales' series format. Fondly recommended.

A fantastic proof of concept... it's just not as engaging or game-changing as the other cinematic episodes Telltale has been putting out over the last three years. [Issue#157, p.122]

    It's simple:
    Do you love Borderlands?
Do you love Telltale's adventure games? Do you own a PS4? Are you able to read at a 5th grade level?

I love Borderlands. I love Telltale's storytelling games. Still, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this particular installment. Color meI love Borderlands. I love Telltale's storytelling games. Still, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this particular installment. Color me happily surprised!

All of the Borderlands writing and the Telltale engine work wonderfully together. Playing more than one character is new for these games, but it works really surprisingly well. It's only out a week before Telltale's GoT game, but it's worth picking up and plowing through before Tuesday's new treats drop.

Definitely worth every gamer's time and money to play them.

Telltale took this fantastic game series and somehow made it BORING. Bad execution of a bad redesign of a great game. DO NOT GET THIS GAME.
