    Japanese video games are often equal to anime and manga, it doesn’t matter in what format you’re enjoying the stories. The Caligula Effect: Overdose, too, makes you forget you’re playing a game but rather, experiencing a piece of Japanese popular culture.

    The Caligula Effect Overdose is a good example of what a « plus » version should be. More characters, more storylines, more side quests, it totally justifies the "Overdose" suffix in its name.

    The Caligula Effect: Overdose is still definitely a flawed, frustrating work. Its shortcomings are many, and might still be too intractable for some, but the refinements and additions have,for me at least, papered over the cracks just enough to make it worth putting up with.

    Even with an engaging combat system to some fun side characters, [The Caligula Effect: Overdose] just doesn’t have enough to carry all the dullness it brings with it in its story and environments.

    The Caligula Effect Overdose could have been so much more, I would never say no to more games bringing unique ideas to the Persona formula, but this game doesn’t deliver on that and is instead filled with repetitive and undeveloped systems. It can entertain and be fun, but I feel that The Caligula Effect Overdose truly is a game for the serious hardcore fans of the genre that like the idea of a less developed Persona title.

    The Caligula Effect: Overdose is so saturated with bland content that the meaningful moments get buried. Attempts to perk things up with a new engine and extra content just end up on top of the pile instead of actually fixing anything.

    Enjoyed every second. A nice mix of Persona and Blue Reflection. Played on ps4 and again on switch.

    I really can't say much. The game is good, but is bogged down by the combat system. The way that they introduce new enemies is just by addingI really can't say much. The game is good, but is bogged down by the combat system. The way that they introduce new enemies is just by adding this thing near them that gives them a new attack. However, the combat system is pretty cool in that it operates a lot like Transistor. If you have heard of/played that game, you know that the combat was great. The game goes into a circular board like state, and you and your team all choose attacks and abilities while the game displays the best possible outcome, and the enemies next movement, letting you plan your attack accordingly. The characters are fun, most of them, at least, and the music is really good. The extra characters that you form bonds with are basically just reskinned main characters with worse powers and stats. I also have to say that unlocking bonds in the causality link system is horrid. Having to have these crappy knockoff teammates on your team while you do something is always bad. I would recommend this game if you really enjoyed Transistor, or if you enjoyed the original Vita version of this game.… Expand

    I never got a chance to play the vita game so I don't know what is really different but so far the game is just okay. The story and characters seem interesting and I like the combat but what makes it falter are the WIRE chat interactions don't feel like natural conversations I would have with anyone (including my real friends).

    The game locks away things called "trauma" quests behind certain students and to get to those students I have to try and get to know OVER 500 OTHER STUDENTS! Seriously?! I don't know if this game was trying to REALLY overshadow Persona 5 but more does not mean better NIS. P5 only gives me 16 people I need to socialize with, you add another 500 students (that all look exactly alike) on top of that and a part of me just hopes these aren't necessary to complete the game, plus I don't even feel these students are worth talking to since I just hold the L1 button to end the conversations faster. I don't know if this game is greatly improved compared to the vita version but I have feeling it isn't.

    Save your $50 and just watch the anime "Caligula". It will take less time (less than 5 hours) to watch and it is even free to watch on certain sites.    … Expand
