    Great Gore

    Cons:
Settings need more options for brightness calibration, headset options.
It was definitely not short but I wish it was longer.

Wish there was a harder difficulty. Maximum is hard don’t get me wrong but an insane difficulty would be fun. Only issue with combat is you shouldn’t be allowed to just hold dodge. It should be time related. It would make it a lot harder.

I definitely recommend and hope a sequel comes out.

If Dead Space is what you are looking for, that's coming out next month from EA. The overall atmosphere of this game, the main character, the general enemies, and even the setting to an extent, do bring me back to fond memories of freaking out on the USG Ishimura in 2008 or so. However, the combat plays completely differently, and once you get it down is perhaps even more satisfying than those. The Callisto Protocol is a game from the Dark Souls era, and is purposely very punishing at some points. On PS4, the load times are bad, about 55-60 seconds to reload after a death. It's a beautiful looking game, even on the PS4, and I encountered only a few glaring performance issues (2-3 full crashes though) across 12ish hours. Long story short: if your expectations are anchored to Dead Space, you may or may not enjoy this. I was drawn to this because DS1 is among my favorites of all-time, but I played nearly all of TCP through in one snowy day because it was a ton of fun as its own thing. The story and world are also super intriguing, and I'm intrigued by the possibility of strong DLC next year. My guess is that in a couple years, the sequel breaks through commercially (and perhaps especially critically) similarly to Assassin's Creed II building on the first AC. Expand

Wasted potential. Attempts have been made, some started creative but ended looking like another cookie cutter, with promises of a greaterWasted potential. Attempts have been made, some started creative but ended looking like another cookie cutter, with promises of a greater stuff with a cheap sequel or dlc teaser.

Launch of the game wasn't a perfect one. First time putting the cd in I was greeted with a 20GB patch, how nice. Despite a big patch, the game still felt unpolished and not optimised, although I was running the game on a PS4 PRO... I can only imagine how terrible it's running on PS4 original or Slim. By the time I was done with the game, I was greeted again with another 14GB patch. They finally managed to fix trophy bug that wouldn't sync my progression to PSN... which I never experienced before and never thought that trophies could be a challenge to implement.

The game starts interesting and promising. You're introduced to beautiful visuals, in a futuristic looking city in distant Europa, in the middle of something that looks like a terrorist attack. All this interesting setting... you won't get to explore... it will be used for sequel bait, ain't that nice?

If you're a fan of dark visuals, where you can't see anything, well you can to the right place. And if you demanded more unclearer visuals, be not afraid, they're adding foggy/misty environment and terrible weather effects, to spice up your fetish.

Those locations... How many more sewer levels must we suffer though before developers understand that they're not fun, just stop... please, I'm willing to pay more just so you don't force on me this literally crappy levels. So, back to tortures, you're forced from point A to point B with some "conveniently" placed crazy routes to go through that don't make any sense. Along the way from point A to B, they do everything in their power to make that journey more tedious. You fall through floors, something falls from above and blocks your way, then there is obligatory "missing fuze battery riddle" every half hour. An those vents... just why... this supposed to be a prison... keeping people from escaping... but those vents are everywhere and they made in perfect size for anyone to escape.

Game mechanics. So the new fighting mechanic is not something I've seen before, it's something refreshing... I like the way it feels like a real close combat... so here comes a big "BUT"... Enemies are unbalanced, the game throws at you bunch of enemies, but camera movement is way too slow to deal with more than two enemies at a time. Same goes for characters movement and reaction time. Even on easy mode the game will be difficult and frustrating. For example there is a mini-boss which could have been killed easily if not for the terrible gun selection mechanism. It's a close combat... the game is supposed to be a survival horror... but here we are supposed to deal with a boss like a bullet sponge with limited ammo and shifting from one weapon to another.

And if you're like... "well duuh, just get more ammo for one specific weapon, not a biggie, i is smart, you is dumb". Well, captain genius, let me introduce you the next segment: those terrible checkpoints. They are all over the place, sometimes you can end up wasting time on buying the same stuff again and again because the game is not smart to save at the buy point... and the other time, without a warning the game throws at you a boss battle... while you are one low health and almost no ammo. And the best part is... there is no way to go back... no level selection. Just awesome...

And while we're on the checkpoints and dying... those loading times... just terrible. If you're stuck at a checkpoint, you'll be spending more time looking at the loading screen, not playing the actual game.

Story could be great but it ended up being boring. They slightly touched the virus origin and by the time they explained the intentions the game ruffly ends. The part with protagonists schizophrenia had some moments, that they could have expanded upon, instead of throwing at us same monotonous prison/abandoned hangars/ sewer levels. But don't worry, the quality stuff is coming, everything is promised for the next chapter, well then... until then, 5/10 is all they get.
