The Suicide of the Rachel Foster is a masterpiece in atmospheric storytelling. The slow-paced unveiling of the truth is crafted meticulously, and whilst the ultimate ending is a little disappointing, that doesn’t make the journey any less thrilling. The game knows exactly how to manipulate emotions and does so throughout. Equal parts intriguing, frightening, disturbing, and thrilling, The Suicide of Rachel Foster sets a new high-bar for the already strong first person exploration genre.
The Suicide of Rachel Foster tackles some tough issues but in a respectful way. Surrounding it is a mystery that will intrigue and surprise right to the end.

Не помню, писал ли отзыв когда-либо до этого, но сейчас возникло непреодолимое желание :)
Итак, буду краток:
Если,
1. Ты являешься фанатом жанра "Симулятор ходьбы".
2. Считаешь что глубокий сюжет > Геймплейные механики.
3. В списке твоих любимых игр фигурируют такие проекты, как Firewatch, what's remains of edith finch, Gone Home.
4. Любишь густую таинственную атмосферу.
5. Любишь ходить и тщательно разглядывать детально проработанные атмосферные локации.
То,
Данная игра однозначно должна быть тобою куплена и пройдена.
Я бы купил эту игру и два раза и три раза, лишь бы подобных проектов было как можно больше.
Игра не без изъянов, спору нет, и тем не менее она занимает почетное место в списке игр, которые я без зазрения совести буду рекомендовать всем, кто хочет познакомится с жанром.

The Suicide of Rachel Foster is a good thriller, which deals with strong and difficult themes. Due to the good writing and successful atmosphere, we recommend giving it a chance.
Small issues aside, The Suicide of Rachel Foster is a truly riveting thrill ride. The story plays out perfectly in the first-person narrative video game medium. You owe it to yourself to discover the secrets of the Timberline Hotel - just make sure you've got a few hours spare, because you're not going to want to put it down once you've started.
On paper, The Suicide of Rachel Foster promises a spooky ghost tale grounded in the drama of a family driven apart. While some of that potential is eventually made good on, the road there is a bit too bland and unengaging to make the whole experience shine as brightly as it should.
Regrettably, the revelations the story builds to are obvious, and the characters are not charismatic enough to transcend the limitations of the plotline.
A mediocre melodrama, awkwardly written into a shoddy walking simulator, its few bright ideas are poorly fleshed out and ultimately destroyed with a rubbish ending.
Im really impressed i didn't expect it to be good i really like that kind of storytelling in games the atmosphere is good it's kinda like firewatch with the whole ur alone but not entirely cuz u stay in contact with someone all the time its really good :) we need more games like that

The game as Firewatch. But about realistic graphics, one big house and his story, which is fully disclosed only at the very end of the game and without any hints earlier.
Pleased me:
- graphics
- the atmosphere of realistic horror without fictional mysticism
- pleasant and hearty conversations
- sound component
- detective interest
I was not pleased:
- everything that's happened since the high point of history.
- many plot holes in the lore.
If you like games like Firewatch, Edith Fintch, Everybody's Gonne To The Rapture, etc., then come in for 3-4 hours.

it had good atmospheric potential, but was tainted by the unmotivated actions of the characters, a million extra details that don't tell the story. I don't know how it is possible to empathize with such flat and inadequate characters. Unsuccessful attempt to imitate the Edith Finch and firewatch.

This game sounded interesting to me so I went in with no idea about it. Speaking positively for the game the story is interesting enough even though its teen horror level, the sort where you'll work out the real culprit before the end of the first chapter, and Irving is an interesting character however thats the only good things I can say about this game, sadly.
You spend the entire game as "Nicky", a character you will not develop any attachment to at all as all you ever see of her is her hands, the gameplay is also brain meltingly boring, to and fro, to and fro, to and fro through the same corridors and rooms with a lot of backtracking amounting to nothing more than a walking simulator. You can run, but theres no need to do so at all through the entire game. Even the multiple endings are.. well, not to sound harsh but crap. You could forgive the gameplay if the story had a solid payoff by the end of it but it just doesn't.
I'm not one to prioritise graphics in games but a game like this REALLY needs to draw you in to the world with polished visuals and sadly it doesn't have that either. At worst it looks like something from the early PS2 days, and at best something from the early PS3 days. Performance-wise the game also won't impress, I played on PC and the graphical difference between "low" and "Epic" is nil, save for some heavy post processing AA which makes everything look far too blurry and more heavy bloom on "High" and "Epic" settings, so most people will likely stick to "Medium" so they don't feel like they are playing with vaseline over their eyes. Something also feels very off with this game I also had screen tearing with everything set to "Epic" quality but the game felt like it was running at 20FPS even with sensitivity turned right up with both mouse and keyboard and controller setups.
I had high hopes for this game but ultimately it needed more time in the oven to better develop existing endings and add a couple more and to vastly improve visuals in order to draw the player in these things would have gone a long way to significantly improving this game. Overall this game is definitely one that if you are interested in look for a game movie of it on youtube as actually playing it will bore you to death.
