    If we had to sum up Toki Tori 2+ in two words, they would be: simply fun. These words are not chosen randomly, as they describe perfectly what the game reflects: simple but sufficient controls, many challenging puzzles but not too difficult and a technical section that makes getting behind the controller a real pleasure for our senses.

    Several years after its first release Toki Tori 2 + is still a great puzzle game. This new version for PlayStation 4 can be a nice opportunity to rediscover a game that surely deserved more consideration.

    Toki Tori 2+ is a cheery tune of delight which thumps to the rhythm of a chick's stomp. It's a beautiful, colourful, and clever environment to play in, and harks back to those feel-good games which used to be so prevalent but have unfortunately fallen from grace in recent years.

    Toki Tori 2 is a cute little platforming puzzler that gets more interesting and fun to play as you make your way through the game. Yes it becomes a very challenging game probably more down to trial and error but it’s open world mechanic allows you apply open world thinking.

    Lifeless, over-produced 3D graphics, sterile single-player gameplay with no interesting flavor. It's about as sterile and boring as Ecco the Dolphin or Soul Bubbles with the further sterilization of smooth-shaded 3D. The music and sound effects are so bland and repetitive, I had to disable them.

    There's an excessive amount of arbitrarily locked nonsense to memorize and come back to at the "right point" in the game, rather than being immediately solvable in more brutish or imaginative ways -- a hallmark of this "Metroidvania" style they're attempting to copy.

    The penalty for death is very low, just having to restart at the latest checkpoint, creating very little compulsion for advancement because challenge is reduced to nearly the same level as watching the game play itself -- why not just make a video instead of wasting people's time with it in game form?

    For some reason, there's an overly-complex overlay to the stages, requiring manual traversal through the puzzles if one wishes to backtrack, rather than simply having a linear set of puzzles to overcome. Moreover, there appears to be a "collect all the items" psychological draw in a game that otherwise seemingly has no compelling reason to be played, no high score list, or any other reason than to be evil and exist in the meta-game of trophy hoarding.
