The interactivity and flow of the game make it so much more fun to play than you typical defense game that even non fans will find something to like here.

A refreshingly simple 3D tower defense game. It blends the strategy of building and upgrading your units with action-packed third-person shooting, and the result is unadulterated mayhem with a lot of visual charm.

I really loved battling through the various maps and tackling a pretty difficult campaign. On top of that, there are more than a few ways to replay it and one mode designed to have you checking in every day, which is something that isn’t outside of the realm of possibility given how much I liked it.

The variety in game modes doesn't quite make up for the lack of heroes, but Toy Soldiers: War Chest provides some quality entertainment for tower defense aficionados.

The merging of tower defense and shooter games is poorly implemented.

Not bad. But a laundry list of unfortunate drawbacks keeps it from becoming the exciting box of good times and nostalgia that it could have been.

The game is different, odd, colourful, and often funny, but it feels like step backwards from its predecessors in more ways than one. And sadly playing as Battle Cat just doesn't seem to fix it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First off, all the toy soldier games have been excellent. My kids and i play them coop. War chest is no different, great local couch coop and multi. This is the best local coop on ps4 hands down. Worth every penny of $30. The low ratings regarding the unlocks of the special characters is laughable. The primary act. gets the additional 4 character unlocks. If your kid wants one not on the primary act., then buy it. hey only cost $1!! So u might come out of your pocket $4 if ur kid wants all 4 extra characters. If u can afford a ps4 and internet and $30 to purchase this game, im sure a dollar for ur kid to play as cobra or gi-joe wont break u. The "stock" characters are all good. The game mechanics are perfect. No other local couch coop/multi on ps4 comes close. Game on Expand

Each character has a unique arsenal at his or her disposal and the battlefields are each unique in their own way. You can go it solo, or vs each other. The level up system for your units in play keeps it interesting and tense as wave after wave of enemy move to take your toybox. It is silly and a good time. The addition of the GI JOE and COBRA, HE MAN, ASSASSINS CREED is welcome. This is a family fun kind of game....if you expect more go elsewhere. Well done. Expand

The game play is a lot like the others, but with more armies, and less towers per army. The different towers for each army differ in their usage so each army is going to feel unique and the battles are as fun as ever. However, they released the game too soon, and it is still a buggy mess. It has crashed on me at least 5 times in the past 24 hours, and it's often telling me I don't have the dlc heros when I do. It's never crashed on me during a battle so far, so the game isn't broken, but it needs some patching. I will adjust my rating and review after they patch the game, but for now I would say, unless you are already a fan of the game or love tower defense games, you should probably hold off until it's fixed. Still a lot of fun, and the battles are great, it also may not be buggy if you didn't buy the dlc characters, but it was clearly released too soon. Expand

In typical Ubisoft fashion the game is full of bugs and non-working parts. Characters feel cheap and slapped together, and views are often problematic especially when zooming in to targets at a distance. All hero/toy options are the same just with different skins and animations and overall the game just feels like one big money grab.I truly hope a developer takes this idea and creates what this game should be but this one here is a disappointment. Had this game not come with so many issues it would be an ok buy for young kids but even then the price is completely unjustified. This is a game that should be free so I don't suggest buying this at all. Expand

This is a fun game, it brings back the fun from cold war, but if you buy the "hall of fame edition" (aka complete game) don't expect to play it entirely with your family or friends in the same room, because only the account that redeemed the dlc code or bought it from psn will be able to access all the armies, even if you play offline, in splitscreen. I bought the retail version of this game for my kids and I to enjoy splitscreen. The only person who can use all the characters is the one using my profile, the rest can only use half the characters, and in my mind, half the game. The licensed characters can only be used by one person at a time. We have enjoyed the game and find it a family friendly bit of third person shooter and light strategy. I enjoy games with my family members, in the same room, and will do so until gaming becomes a strictly online affair. I went to Ubisoft's website and read that the last four armies on the disk are tied to one profile and cannot be shared. WHO DO THEY THINK THE TARGET AUDIENCE IS FOR THIS? So if you are purchasing for the same purpose as I was, be warned hat neither sub accounts, or logging in as guest will make the characters playable. Expand
