While Trine 3 would've benefited from a much greater length, less frustrating puzzles and online co-op, what's here will more than suit fans of the series. The new 3D direction takes getting used to, but really incorporates into the developer's vision remarkably; and the visuals are quite stunning at times. If you're a fan of the series, this is a must. If not, maybe this could make you become one, despite the shortcomings.

While still a fun time, Trine 3 is rather short lived. The game will take most players around four hours to complete, even with the side missions that crop up over time. It’s sad to see, but in those four hours, I had a blast playing it.

The move into 3D has produced some staggeringly pretty visuals, but when it comes to the controls and running time this usually enjoyable action puzzler suffers badly as a result.

In many ways a step down for the franchise, Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is an unfortunate combination of lackluster 3D platforming and unfinished storytelling.

We extend our sympathies toward Frozenbyte since Trine 3's weaknesses are due to unforeseen costs that exceeded its budget, but this doesn't alter the reality of the game's state. While it may surpass expectations as a picturesque fairy tale come to life with a lovely score and promising tale, your childlike wonder will fade and be cut short due to abrupt closure, trite puzzle-solving, and dumbed-down gameplay that spells a fumble for this middling entry.

I have a 3D TV and took full advantage of the stereoscopic 3D in all it's glory. The puzzles are not too challenging and the visuals are to die for. Not sure what else I can say. If you have the 20 bucks it's well worth the money. My only gripe is that it's a little too short, in terms of hours worth of game-play. But it's a game I will come back to over and over again. I had only played the demo for the previous Trine before trying this one out. The 3D is a great addition and adds to the game. The entire gameI had only played the demo for the previous Trine before trying this one out. The 3D is a great addition and adds to the game. The entire game looks amazing as well. The game plays well with the 3 different characters diversifying how you play the game. The only minor grip is that it is a bit short, would've liked more game to play but I think it's worth the price to play what's here since it's great quality. Expand

What an insanely beautiful game! The best one of the Trine trilogy. Sure the 3D aspect can make some of the gameplay a bit frustrating, butWhat an insanely beautiful game! The best one of the Trine trilogy. Sure the 3D aspect can make some of the gameplay a bit frustrating, but the amazing graphics, colors and overall fantasy of the world far surpass any gameplay gripes. The score and sound of course are superb again, just like in Trine 2. The devs outdid themselves with this game. I’m enjoying the hell out of it, well worth the $20. Expand

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power
    a Beautiful but shallow adventure
Trine 3 as a game about collecting well, the artifacts of power
Trine 3 consists of 19 levels in total, included in those 19 levels are 8 main chapters to the game.
You play as 3 different characters.
You have a knight who comes equipped with a sword and a shield he can use to float,
an assassin with a bow and ropes used to pull object, and a wizard character than can create a platform at will and move objects around the screen.
Each character has their own chapter to introduce them, and they all have their own optional side chapters throughout the game
You only spend 5 of the 8 chapters together as the characters, but this is plenty enough, I actually prefer the levels where im on my own.
You can play this game with local co op, and im fairly certain co op was in mind during the development of this game so I cant complain too much, however I feel like there was way too much dependency on the wizard…
Clearly the wizard has the most puzzle potential, but it would’ve been nice to just give my mind a break and let me be the knight or platform with the assassin for a good while,
There is a decent balance of back and forth to get through the levels, but they kind of felt a little too much like a puzzle, not enough of an adventure.
There is some combat sprinkled into this game, not too much, again very puzzle heavy, but nothing all too challenging.
In these gorgeous and varied worlds there are also triangles all over the place,
Triangle collecting kind of became the game for me
You have to collect triangles to unlock chapters, so you might as well collect them, luckily they are easy to spot and very fun to collect.
All in all, I enjoyed the casual puzzle experience Trine 3 offers and I loved exploring the beautiful levels, but ultimately the game felt hollow to me, the story went over my head and there is no satisfying ending.. at least for me,
Trine 3 is an alright time, but not a must play.

For what it is, puzzle adventure game
