Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Lost Legacy takes all of the positives of the series and combines them with protagonists that bring a fresh take on adventure to the series. We can only hope that this isn't the end of Chloe's and Nadine's stories, as the world of Uncharted is ripe for more exploration, and these two leads are more than up to the task of carrying the torch.

It might be shorter – as reflected in the price – but The Lost Legacy is a great Uncharted and a dazzling example of a studio at the top of its game. To be honest, I wouldn’t have believed that Chloe and Nadine could make such fantastic, sympathetic protagonists or that Naughty Dog could stretch the formula out for another 10 hours, yet it has and I loved every minute.

If you've missed the series, this is the perfect conclusion in every way, but I hope this is the start of a brand new saga in Uncharted's own legacy.

With Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Naughty Dog has once again raised the bar when it comes to cinematic action games, delivering an experience that is equal parts exhilarating and ambitious.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is breathtaking. It's the real thing - a big old-school expansion that sometimes is even slightly better than Uncharted 4. The visuals are perfect, the shooting and stealth mechanics are almost as good, and there are many more puzzles than there is fighting. All of this is worthy of a blockbuster movie. Awesome!

While I will continue to miss Sully, Nathan, Elena, and young would-be adventurer Cassie, The Lost Legacy is another amazing adventure in the living Uncharted world. Whether it spells the start of a new direction for the series, or just a fun encore, it’s an excellent experience for any Uncharted fan.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is an amazing new chapter for this fantastic franchise. Although the game follows a pretty conservative formula, the way it presents its gameplay, story and visuals, is almost perfect.

Overall, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a fun romp through a little more of the Uncharted universe and I can't imagine that players invested in the franchise will disagree. Naughty Dog did a really nice job fleshing out a pair of once-supporting characters and made us care about who they are and where they came from, and not just because they are women and/or persons of color. Check it out.

Bottom line; this is real Uncharted. It may not have been written and directed by Neil Druckmann, but it bears his fingerprints. Action-packed, full of trademark Naughty Dog humor, and a surprising amount of character development and heart make Lost Legacy a full Uncharted experience.

The Lost Legacy is not as great as a real new part in the Uncharted series, but as an insanely expansive stand-alone DLC it's more than successful. We will always miss Nathan Drak, but hopefully Uncharted will continue in this form for a long, long time.

The Lost Legacy is a mixture of best moments in the series, and even with a rather short campaign, it’ll still worth every penny of your 40 dollars. All in all, the future looks very bright for the Uncharted franchise. That’s because the fans love new characters and they are ready for more even without Nathan Drake.

Lost Legacy retains the amazing beauty of Uncharted 4, channelled here through the amazing vistas and monuments of the Indian landscape. You should be warned though that Chloe’s charisma is hands-down inferior to the one of Nathan.

Lost Legacy doesn’t reinvent Uncharted’s underlying Indiana Jones-meets-Prince of Persia conceit, but it tightens up many of its elements, with better gameplay design and a story that’s clear and thoughtful. This is probably the best Uncharted yet.

If Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is Naughty Dog's last run at the series, then it is good to know that they ended their involvement on a high note. Everything that made the series so memorable is present, from the witty banter and deep characterization to the white-knuckle action. Chloe and Nadine make a perfect duo, so you aren't going to miss Sully and Nathan. The lone new change, the expansion to a semi-open world for a majority of the game, works since the world isn't too large, and it means side activities are part of the game. For action fans, The Lost Legacy is a title that can't be missed, even if it's your first foray into the game world.

Clocking in at around 7 hours and costing a slightly-discounted $40 at launch makes this the perfect extension of the Uncharted series.

If there was ever any doubt of the talent at Naughty Dog, consider that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was made in less than a year. This sensational spin-off not only beds in two of the franchise’s more mysterious characters, but it also gloriously repurposes several of the series’ best moments. As a pseudo-Greatest Hits, the title will do little to tempt those who’ve had their fill of treasure hunting – but at a budget price (with multiplayer included) then this is essential for fans of PlayStation’s most iconic brand.

Although not quite on the same level as the previous games in the Uncharted series, Lost Legacy is still a very worth play with some new gaming mechanics added and truly impressive graphics. The only letdown of the game is that it does feel a little similar to the previous Uncharted games which is not a bad thing. Thankfully the protagonists are both interesting and fun, however Chloe is really the star of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and given her mysterious history, I wonder if we’ll see more of her?

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy offers up a lot of thrills even with its different cast. It’s a testament to the franchise’s character strength that two side characters can carry the tale. It doesn’t change the formula up much, but the revamped combat helps things from feeling too repetitive. The story takes players to new locales , but the cast of characters just doesn’t gel together as well as past games, on both the sides of good and evil. It’s a very good game, but one that casual fans of the series can wait on. Series die-hards will definitely enjoy another exploration and combat-filled romp through the world as we get a large glimpse into the post-Nate era of the franchise.

The Lost Legacy is a worthy expansion for Uncharted 4. Naughty Dog pushes right up to its own high bar in terms of story telling, visuals and gameplay design. So long as you aren't expecting an adventure of the size and scope of the base game, it'll be hard to leave disappointed.

Fortunately, Naughty Dog has made sure that that core is as human as ever, and as a result, have produced another stellar title that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with not only some of the studio’s best works, but some of the industry’s best action-adventure games ever.

Despite its shorter length, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy embraces the same level of quality that we’ve come to expect from the series. Some repetitive combat encounters dampen the proceedings, but the emphasis on exploration and puzzles is a refreshing change of pace. Most importantly, Chloe and Nadine shine as the game’s leads, contributing to a high stakes adventure that’s easy to invest in.

The Lost Legacy isn't any different in that respect, but what it does, it does well. And that's good enough for me. If Chloe and Nadine are the future of the franchise, we're in for a great ride.

We thought the Uncharted series was over but Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a very good add-on to the IP built upon the foundations of Uncharted 4, but with a new interesting story centered on Nadine and Chloé.

Once again Naughty Dog shows us the power of the Uncharted games with perfect environment and story.

A masterful example of what an expansion should be, The Lost Legacy is truly magnificent from a technical standpoint, and able to slightly evolve the Uncharted series without changing its roots.

Whatever small missteps that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy does take, are drowned out in the fiery explosions of its set pieces. They’re forgotten, amidst the humour and humanity of its cast, and the witty banter they share. Chloe and Nadine are proof that Uncharted can exist – and thrive – without Nathan Drake.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is the Tomb Raider that I always wanted to have but didn't get because the reboots trimmed on gloom and action. It is a real blessing to stroll with Chloe and Nadine through the Indian ruins and do some daring climbing tours without banging hundreds of enemies every few minutes.

An adrenaline-filled spin-off for the award winning Naughty Dog series. Move over Nathan.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is an outstanding game that achieves the unexpected: to makes us forget about Nathan Drake. However, its narrative and plot leaves us with more questions than answers.

Forget Nathan Drake and Chloe Fraser, if you managed to bag The Lost Legacy as part of Uncharted 4’s season pass then you’re the real thief here. There’s a staggering wealth of content to explore, the quality of which is easily on par with A Thief’s End. The stakes may not be as high, but it’s impossible not build a connection with Chloe and Nadine or revel in the set piece action and story surprises. As far as standalone expansions go, they don’t get more epic than this.

Given just how fully featured this adventure is, Lost Legacy could have easily been Uncharted 5. Where Naughty Dog goes next is anyone’s guess, but I would love to see Chloe and Nadine return for another hunt, as they’re every bit as engaging as the Drake family. They make a hell of a team.

The initial hours of The Lost Legacy give an "Uncharted Greatest Hits" vibe, but it grows into a more nuanced, clever experience, ranking among the best in the series while also making its own mark as a standalone Uncharted that isn't anchored to Nathan Drake's harrowing exploits.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a fun addition to the consistently solid Uncharted franchise. While this entry may be quite a bit shorter than the main numbered games, that doesn’t mean the key components that constitute an Uncharted game aren’t just as present. Indeed, you’ll rarely see a game with this high of production values for only $39.99. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a tight, action-packed adventure in India, and a trip well worth taking.

There is no doubt that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is an excellent game. Like in the previous games in the series, it features a brilliant story, challenging puzzles and intense combat which are all better than ever. Chloe and Nadine prove to be a wonderful team and it seems like this isn't their last treasure hunt adventure together. However, The Lost Legacy can be labeled as a "very big DLC" for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Hence, the campaign is not very long and all the mechanics are pretty much the same as in Uncharted 4. If you haven't played Uncharted 4 yet, you might want to do that before picking The Lost Legacy because it could ruin and spoil your story. If you did play Uncharted 4, then The Lost Legacy is a must.

The Lost Legacy follows in the footsteps of Uncharted 4, and it couldn't be otherwise, and Chloe and Nadine make for a nice buddy couple. It's a pretty short experience, with some replay value and an unprecedented - at least for the series - open level to explore. A solid "more of the same", for better or worse.

Naughty Dog did it again. UNCHARTED: The Lost Legacy may not be so different from its predecessor but it does offer an exciting new campaign with a decent length and the same quality that you remember from past games in the series. The Lost Legacy proves once again that UNCHARTED is one of the best action-adventure experiences in videogames.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy had brought back everything we adore from the series. However, the time has come for us to see a substantial refresher in future releases.

The fast-paced, adrenaline pumping action sequences that we’ve all come to love from Uncharted games are aplenty, and specifically, the game’s finale might be one of the best Uncharted sequences in the franchise.

While this new iteration mightn’t influence other titles or franchises like Drake has, it’s nonetheless amazing to play an Uncharted game with a strong heroine with a nose for relics, a pistol in hand, hair tied back in a ponytail and no need for help from the likes of Drake or Sully. The Lost Legacy is a great little addition to the franchise, ideal for newcomers or fans alike.

Simply put, aside from Nathan’s absence and the lack of anything notably new in how we play, there’s very little to disparage here. Naughty Dog remains a master of storytelling and spectacle rivalled by few other studios. I can think of no good reason to ward Uncharted fans away from The Lost Legacy.

Naughty Dog did right by our memories here, and I hope that whoever takes on Uncharted next does right by them.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a great standalone entry and is exactly what you'd hope to get from the first single player expansion in the franchise. It does almost everything just as well as a full price release with great visuals, solid gameplay, and varied multiplayer. Whether or not you've played Uncharted 4, this is an adventure worth undertaking.

Fans will like it, but they won't love it. It is a bit of a letdown when it comes to providing enough new experiences.

You get the perfect piece of Uncharted content for a good price with this add-on. That’s how you could describe The Lost Legacy. The game proves that you don’t need Nathan to get a great Uncharted game. [Issue#278]

A stylish addition from the masters of the genre does not falter in any moment, and proves that the Uncharted universe can flourish even without Drake brothers. The rumors about DLC for the near full prize are plausible, but in fifth sequel, it will need more surprises and innovation than only a good playtime and a show.

Lost Legacy's shorter runtime and reduced scope means it has something many of its mainline forebears lack: focus. There is a game with neither faff nor filler, no sense of a story being stretched too thinly across a game that is too big for it. Once it gets into gear, this is a rare breed: a finely paced action game with a story to tell and no creeping sense that the needs of one are undermining the quality of the other. [Issue#311, p.108]

If you’re part of the majority that played and enjoyed Uncharted 4, you’re going to find plenty to like in this expansion. If you’re part of the minority that did not, this is not the game for you.

Uncharted: Lost Legacy is another Uncharted game, for better or worse. I loved its length and characters. I would love to see more spin-offs now that Nathan Drake’s journey has come to an end. I feel like we don’t get enough of these action adventure style titles and am always up for another one. I might say we don’t need another Uncharted game once again, but if the series returns, you know I will be first in line to eat my words.

Survival Arena alone isn't reason enough to pick up The Lost Legacy - especially since it's been made available to Uncharted 4 owners via update - but it, and the depth of the multiplayer as a whole, round out a solid standalone package. A great story with interesting characters and solid online play to extend the overall experience, this Uncharted is a little treasure in its own right.

Visually stunning and old-fashionedly adventurous, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a great swang song for this memorable franchise. You'll miss Nathan Drake and his signature quips, though... and be unpleasantly surprised by the bugs that every now and then rear their ugly heads.

The Lost Legacy eases off the set-pieces and globe-trotting, to its detriment. However, the heartiest of Uncharted's staples – its characters, camaraderie, and cutscenes – are here in abundance, and overall it's an extremely capable action title.

This smaller-scale adventure looks and plays a lot like last year's excellent blockbuster, but with the personal journey of a pair of new protagonists offering a refreshing change of perspective. Even when the action got a little too familiar, my affection for these two women and their fractious journey together, as well as the beauty of ancient India and its treasures, made for an engrossing experience.

Video games often struggle to balance story and gameplay, but Lost Legacy finds that, delivering a muscular tale that finishes in under 10 hours but still feels right.

For what it’s worth, I loved playing the game. I felt let down and disappointed with my major gripe riddled throughout this review, but every other facet of the game is a triumph. And so at the end of the day it boils down to where you stand on design progression, and on modern day humanised characters with sticky trigger fingers. While I’m in the former camp, I also realise I’m likely outnumbered by those in the latter.

You will recognise the beats, but Chloe and Nadine make their own fresh and thrilling impact on the familiar. You could not imagine a more fitting finale.

If ever there were a video game that felt like a packaged tour to an ideal tourist destination, this was it.

15 months out from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's release, Naughty Dog is still king of the action adventure jungle. This new angle on the Uncharted formula, which stars Chloe in a pristine mountain range of India, is often captivating, even though it follows many of the same set of standards that were unearthed a decade ago by Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

When I wrapped up the 7-8 hours of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy I was sort of blown away with how polished and enjoyable the experience was. At times, Uncharted 4 felt a little combat heavy for me, but The Lost Legacy feels like it does a better job of balancing traversal, combat, and puzzles. Although there were two chapters that comprised the open-world segment of The Lost Legacy that didn’t do it for me, the rest of the experience is so polished and so enjoyable that it more than made up for it. Not to mention that Nadine and Chloe are fantastic characters that make for a truly memorable Uncharted experience. Uncharted 1-4 may have been all about Nathan Drake, but this game proves without a doubt that Uncharted can live on without him.

I sincerely went into The Lost Legacy feeling like there wasn't much an Uncharted game could do at this point to surprise or impress me, but its tight pacing, likable characters and creative scenarios really won me over and added up to one of my favorite games in the series.

I loved the previous titles in the series, and although this new one can miss the mark at times, it's a beautiful treasure hunting romp that brings back that same Uncharted feeling.

The gameplay and graphics are as enjoyable as ever, but this spin-off feels more like a rerun of Uncharted 4 than a genuinely new experience.

As a standalone expansion, The Lost Legacy does a good job, delivering yet another great adventure with everything you can expect from the series. The new open area felt a little bit disappointing, but fortunately the rest is pure Uncharted, and it continues to be one of the most visually-outstanding franchises on Sony's consoles.

Though The Lost Legacy boasts beautiful new environments to explore and for Chloe to take collectible photos of on her smartphone, the journey through them feels very familiar. The only thing that’s truly fresh about this game is the protagonists, but they’re a promising pair, and those who don’t mind a formulaic sequel should take the chance to get to know them. They’ve certainly proved that we don’t need Drake.

This is a stand alone. Nathan Drake is out of the picture, but the new adventure with Chloe en Nadine is nice! It has some typical Uncharted elements in it and you will enjoy it. However, we miss Drake.

Even if the formula is still the same, without any significant new gameplay elements, The Lost Legacy succeeds in being a very good stand-alone in the Uncharted universe. It's a gorgeous (probably the most beautiful PS4 game at the moment) and funny ride, and its lovable and very interesting protagonists surely deserve to get a another shot in a more consequential and surprising game.

While the action sequences might feel like old hat, there’s no denying that Chloe and Nadine’s very personal adventure will go down as one of Uncharted’s best.

The team has found a way to humanize and flesh out two characters that, for all intents and purposes, were just random secondary additions to the titles they premiered in.

Overall, The Lost Legacy doesn't bring anything new to the Uncharted series but if you're curious about what these less-discussed characters from the franchise get up to when Nathan isn't around and you're happy with more of the same gameplay and scenery then you'll definitely want to check out Chloe and Nadine's adventure.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy makes for a fun but brief journey while still boasting the same level of high quality that we have seen in past entries.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy succeeds on the strength of its characters, writing, and phenomenal depiction of India’s jungles and ruins. Being in the company of Chloe and Nadine keeps its overly familiar action sequences and disappointingly empty open-world area interesting, and it regains its footing in smart puzzles and thrilling cinematic moments.

Despite the poor narrative, there is some fun to be had throughout the 9 or so hours it’ll take you to beat Lost Legacy. While it’s definitely not the globe-trotting adventure of a full, numbered Uncharted, this expansion has a few great moments of its own.

Even though the scope of this stand-alone adventure is smaller than usual, there‘s enough exciting, yet all-too-familiar blockbuster scenes, a daring escape from a crumbling temple, a high-octane car chase and a sequence that can only be described as the train from Uncharted 2 on steroids.

The main problem with Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is its underdeveloped main character. The game is good, but it doesn't stand against previous entries to the franchise.

The smaller scale works for such swashbuckling adventures, and its more open-plan design shows how the series should evolve. Early promise falters around the halfway point due to some noticeable shifts in what the player is able to do in any given space, but it quickly ramps up again to a spectacular finale. The game also serves as a reminder of how strong the supporting cast of these games has been. Chloe makes for a fine hero, and Nadine would have been as well. Perhaps they'll get a chance to return one day.

The Lost Legacy is proof that there's still life in Uncharted, though it'll need to break out of it's own formula a bit in the future. Chloe and Nadine could do that for the series. You just have to let them.

The game looks beautiful and plays back well, but leaves no lasting impression. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is not a must play like The Last of Us: Left Behind. This solo add on feels like something we have already played, but it does offer two other cool characters in key roles.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy offers more of the same cinematic and action packed gameplay as we're used to with the series. The story and the characters are well-written, and the graphics are stunning. On the negative side, the new mechanic that lets us explore the world at our own pace feels a bit underdeveloped.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy plays flawlessly. It’s impossible to criticise the level design, the basic mechanics, or indeed anything that involves pressing buttons. Naughty Dog is simply a developer of such quality that it’s not going to make mistakes there. But I like my games to have narrative, and I like games that get me thinking. I like my games to have purpose, and I find The Lost Legacy to be a very purposeless game. It’s fun, I enjoyed my time with it. I doubt I’ll ever feel inspired to play it again, much less remember it.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a technical marvel, and offers a lot of great treasure-hunting moments throughout. The characters and their dialogues are also a huge part of what makes the game work – this makes the plot quite enjoyable, despite it (and almost every other aspect of the game) being incredibly formulaic. If this is not the end, but instead a new beginning for Uncharted, I really wish Naughty Dog would make something that's way less shooter-y and way more unique going forward.

The larger issue, though, is that heavy, uncomfortable shooting mechanics like these have no place in a series like Uncharted. It was fine in a gritty, downtrodden survival tale like The Last of Us, but this is a series in which inhumanly characters are constantly falling from perilous heights and surviving without a hair out of place afterward. This is a power fantasy. Let it be a power fantasy.
