The story follows a self proclaimed hero as they set off to slay a recently awakened dragon, presented in the manner of a tabletop RPG and playing out through narration from the gamesmaster.
Enjoy an all new, yet appealingly nostalgic gaming experience from YOKO TARO (Creative Director), Keiichi Okabe (Music), Kimihiko Fujisaka (Character Design.)

But those who take a chance on Voice of Cards might be surprised. Its tabletop style is endearing and a testament to the idea that gripping adventure transcends the need for cinematic cutscenes. Voice of Cards puts the "game" back in "role-playing game" in fun, compelling, and thoughtful ways that will delight players throughout their time with it.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is a comfy little game with a nostalgic vibes for an old era of jRPG-genre, unique visuals and great music. Not revolutionary or thought-provoking, but good enough to spend a couple of evenings with, in between other gaming releases.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars cloaks a very traditional JRPG in an alluring tabletop veneer. Sure, it doesn't really shake up the genre in any real meaningful way, but the unique presentation and laid back approach to player engagement all combine to make one of the more relaxing and easily accessible JRPG offerings to come along in a good while.

The great presentation and music is what really makes the game shine, but the card battles could have done with some more thought.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is a great wasted opportunity: a triumph of playing cards accompanied by a wonderful soundtrack and a wonderful atmosphere, which however does not have time to breathe and arrives too quickly to the credits , without expanding your own story. An experiment which from the aesthetic point of view is an absolute success but which becomes too repetitive in playful terms and not very interesting in a narrative key.

Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars features a striking and quirky tabletop style with delightful gameplay that doesn’t overcomplicate things. While the storyline won’t necessarily grip you, it’s told in a fun and interactive way and this is an easygoing pick up and play title that you can enjoy at your own pace. You won’t be challenged when going card-to-card against your enemies, but you can still find the thrill of a frustrating hand if you delve into the minigame.

The card and tabletop aesthetic is very pleasing, and very well done. I love the use of the various dice to show %, chances of effects happening. It feels like an elaborate D&D session with the narrator voicing everything. The gameplay itself is pretty simple, dungeons aren't anything crazy, but it is this simplicity I truly enjoy. When many games try to go bigger and grander, Voice of Cards keeps itself focused and is just a fun experience. The music is also fantastic all around. It all fits so well into the areas. I definitely recommend checking out this game. I feel $30 might be a bit steep, I think it should've been a $20 game, but the polish and experience is there to back it up at least. Expand

Its a Mix between a D&D Tabletop and a classic JRPG with a Cardartstyle something like Paper Mario. It took me around 18hours to see everything the game has to offer. I'm not a fan of Sidequest but i squeezed everything out of the game because i really loved it so much. I recommend to play the Demo because it is a Sidestory of the game which is not in the game itself. As a Nier Fan download the Nier DLC you will like it. The Game is a bit easy that's all that could be better. Hopping for a Sequel or a DLC. Story was great the Music was even better. There is also a little Cardgame in the Game, would be nice if it's getting an Onlineplay Option to playing with friends. Expand

Be warned, it is not a card game at all, but a classical turn based JRPG. The game is nice but very simple and basic despite its world made of cards.

    Positives :
+ Nice art style with pretty well drawn cards
+ OST is a blast (close to NieR OST)
+ Discovering the world map with cards which are unveiling themselves around you
+ Narrator's voice is excellent (either English or Japanese)

    Negatives:
    - Mechanics are too simple
    - Way too easy with no difficulty setting
    - Rather short (about 12 hours to see a first ending)
    - Story is very classical
