Warriors All-Stars is a delight. It’s explicitly a love letter to the Koei Tecmo faithful, and it doesn’t pretend to be otherwise.
Lack of local multiplayer notwithstanding, Warriors All-Stars is another worthy entry into the Musou series. This is one for fans who want to get a little silly with it and ones who have an affinity for other Koei Tecmo titles.

While it doesn't reinvent the "Warriors" wheel, having a multitude of characters from other Koei games in a hack and slash was really fun. Diehard fans of Koei Tecmo/Warriors might be bummed out that certain series were omitted, but I think the roster they picked was solid, and the gameplay is some of the best the series has to offer.

The game, while relatively simple, has a lot of interesting things going for it in the way of if you are a Tecmo or Koei fan. There are many series, such as Ninja Gaiden, Atelier, DoA and many more with characters to pick from. The game can be beaten in just a few hours, but going through as each of your favorite characters can mean you can see how your favorite characters interact and interpret this strange world they have been transported to! If you aren't a big fan of any of the series, or don't like fairly simple combat, this game may not be for you, but it is really neat as a long time Tecmo fan!

Another musou from the best studio in this kind of productions, Omega Force, a game granted with a gorgeous selection of Tecmo Koei characters such Ryu Hayabusa, William Adams or Kasumi.
Warriors All Stars is definitely a game for fans of Koei Tecmo and musou games, filled with many interesting character interactions. Sadly, even with a nice battle system, it just feels average.
The trouble is that All-Stars has the misfortune of being released as the Dynasty Warriors 9 hype train is gathering speed, and Tecmo-Koei have made it quite clear that they're on the cusp of bringing substantial changes to the admittedly formulaic series. While it might seem unfair to judge All-Stars against a game that doesn't even have a release date yet, it's hard to see it as something more than a stopgap to keep fans happy while the promised headline act is still in development.
Despite the overwhelming difficulty found at the start, it is certainly worth pushing through it to enjoy the unique experience that Warriors All-Stars is. Koei Tecmo has found its own Smash Bros. mash-up game that brings together a brilliant ensemble cast of characters like Ryu, William from Nioh, and Dynasty Warriors' Zhao Yun for classic Musou hack-and-slash gameplay.
Warriors All-Stars is a colourful hack and slash title that can be fun in short bursts thanks to its varied cast of playable characters, but it just has too many problems to be considered a good Warriors game. Frustrating, tedious mission design, a throwaway story, and a wildly unstable framerate make it very difficult to recommend when there are so many better Koei Tecmo titles on the market.

Repetetive but Still fun
Warriors All Stars is a Dynsaty Warriors game where you choose 1 of 12 character all from different koei tecmo games, only one of them speaking english.. that being William from nioh.. other than William, if you don’t understand japenese, youll be reading subtitles throughout the entire journey as there are no other English voice actors…
But the worlds greatest heroes have been summoned to save a world and they cant go back home until they do so, so you set out with your selected hero and your 2 companions to go gather the other heroes that were spread across the land..
theres a base where you can trade, craft, and accept tasks…
But theres a map with missions all over it.. main story missions as well as missions to recruit heroes, obtain cards, gold, and materials…
Depending on the difficulty you play this game on, you may not need to focus much on these side missions that are just more of the same..
Sticking to the main story will allow you to beat this games campaign in about 10 and a half hours, and story missions gave me plenty of cards and materials to do just this…
Despite the character you choose at the beginning, you are not stuck with playing as this character…
you have a team of 3 but you set out to recruit more to eventually have a party of 5..
Like every other dynasty warriors game your goal is to just get to the main points on the map until victory…
But as you journey through these maps youll run into monster enemies with a bravery level..
you have to defeat these monsters to raise your bravery as it resets every battle..
So it’s a balance of hunting weaker monsters down so you can take down the stronger monsters for the main tasks..
there are also points on the map you can take over to be able to refill your health for example…
You play as your groups leader which can be swapped out with any character you recruit before you start a battle…
while the other 4 follow…
There are only 12 characters to choose from at the start, but by the campaigns end youll have around 30 to choose from…
This game impressively feels like it has no loading, when youre ready its ready…
while youre in battle you can use your 4 characters to do a special move on a cool down meter, but a mechanic I thought was really cool is that also on a cool down meter is the ability to use any of the 4 characters briefly in combat - this allows you to get a feel for them without the commitment of making them leader
that way its much easier to find your favorite character that suits your play style the most…
the combat here is fairly simple…
you have a light attack and heavy attack, you can do and unlock combos as you level up, youre also able to dodge and roll…
and again use special moves from your allies as well as pull off your own special move from a meter that’s filled by defeating enemies…
But there is also a rush ability.. activating rush will cause an infinite amount of enemies to storm in while youre invincible and try to kill as many as possible for the best rewards, this rush is also useful for tough to deal with enemies… as they cant stun you or hurt you while you get in some free damage ignoring everything around you if youd like as smaller enemies are just there, posing no threat whatsoever…
youll also pick up cards off of enemies that can be assigned to your party members to boost their stats, youll also level up their friendship towards you for friendship gifts and to run into them in the bathhouse
annoyingly though while your party members do level up.. their card will only level up if that character is the leader… almost making cards pretty useless…
and I only say almost because you can craft and find better cards with slots to add abilities to and slap them on your party members
And that’s it.. this is the game…if you’ve played 1 battle you’ve played them all… its that repetitive..
but I still actually enjoyed my time with this game..
I wasn’t blown away but despite every mission feeling exactly the same, I was having fun all 10 and a half hours
things did get a little annoying towards the end where id have to actually strategize because it turns into a bit of a baby sitter mode where you can lose the battle and have to restart if an ally dies, but luckily this only happened to me twice through the whole campaign, and I didn’t mind that much having to strategize a little bit..
There isn’t really anything special here…
The game is fun, but it’s the same throughout, the story is throwaway,
Everyone is speaking in Japanese during battles so I had no idea what was going on and couldn’t break my focus to read the text…
Warrior All Stars is just an okay game

Gameplay is good but repetitive.Storymode is fun but it suffers from non sensible **** as if Koei-Tecmo took the second or third string writers from Warriors Orochi or Dynasty Warriors and gave them something to do.

The novelty of this game is that characters area drawn in from different franchises such as Nioh and Ninja Gaiden. This is indeed quite enjoyable and breathes life into an aging concept that are the Warriors games.
The downsides for me are the limited game modes and the drops in framerate. There can be many enemies on the screen at once, so framerate drops were understandable in previous generations, however I think that on a PS4 Pro this is not acceptable and also makes the game harder to play as the screen can jerk at crucial moments.
Secondly are the limited characters to play as. Of course, you can unlock a nice array of characters, but the story is very short and when I restarted it I was presented with only the three original characters again, making it very repetitive to unlock them all and resulting in me seeking out online guides, which is rarely a sign **** game.
Still, if you enjoy the series and were let down by DW9 like most of us, this could fill the DW gap in your life, but not for long.

As a big Musou fan this was a disappointment. It felt like a step back from previous games in every way. 100% recycled maps from other games and nothing interesting to do on those maps besides take over bases and kill officers. Procedurally generated missions are supposed to pad out the length but can be completely ignored. And the characters are not given their own story lines or missions, they're just all lumped together and you're expected to fight the same storyline missions over and over to get the multiple endings. I got bored halfway through and this is from someone who platinums every other Musou game.

The game so bad that I feed bored playing it. Framerate is not consistent, enemies character design lacks diversification. In just few hours, you will lose interest to keep playing to unlock more. Never before that I have to stop playing a Koei title without complete story mode. Looking back at the mesmerizing Dynasty warriors 8 XL, Warriors Orchi series, this game is just a shame for the Warriors title. I have had a high hope for it when it first came out (even paying a full price) but now all I have is regret.
